A lot of discussion in the last few days has been on the FA Cup, Value of Europa League/Uefa Cup, and our plans for the summer... However, we play Spurs tomorrow, a very important match. I honestly think finishing 5th is vital: for one, it doesn't half stick one to the BBC and the other media pundits who have masturbated over Martin O'Neill for the past 9 months.
We're also, I think, on course for our best points total in the Premier League ? something we should be aiming to reach. To do so, on the back of cup success also, would make this our greatest season in the Premier League.
Also, I just fucking hate Tottenham and the mercanery that is Harry Redknapp. 3-0 with Pienaar, Jo and Cahill amongst the goals, COYB!!!

Redknapp is a disgrace IMO. He talks "top, top, top" bollocks and has stabbed more clubs in the back than most. He constantly prattles on about what a "triffic" job he’s done to get them out of the relegation battle, when actually it’s only the fact that everyone else was even worse that they’ve managed to climb up the table. I thought he was bang out of order to criticise Bent on TV straight after he missed that sitter (forget who against), you do that shit in house, not to the Sky cameras. He has publicly blamed the players for poor results as clearly it can’t be his fault and I have lost all respect for the guy this season. Ask a Pompey or Southampton fan how "triffic" a manager they think he is.
Let’s hope we stuff spurs and show them that steady progression and team spirit count a lot more than spunking money around on anyone and everyone who is available in the close season.

Agree wholeheartedly on most fronts, but we’re not going to be setting any points records unfortunately.
We finished with 65 last year, so even if we win all 3 remaining games (by no means a cert!) the best we can do is match our best.
I think we more like to finish on 63 (2 wins and a draw).

I think the lads can’t believe how badly they did for the home crowd against city. Some good stuff coming tomorrow. Lescott to score?
7 Posted 09/05/2009 at 01:27:33
As for points total, I wholeheartedly agree that is it important to aim as high as possible for that, and keep setting new Premier League records there, although it won’t happen this year (should have though...). It should at least be a target to surpass 60 points consistently now, and to do that given our record at Craven Cottage, we might very well need a win over Spurs.

To get back on topic, I can see a tough game against Spurs, but the lads will surely be eager to leapfrog Villa and give the Goodison faithful something to cheer about. I see a narrow victory for the Blues.

We desperately need investment so that DM can have realistic funds to meet the challenges to come....he needs a transfer budget of at least £30 million with some more youngsters coming up to the plate and breaking into the squad. I would love a top quality playmaker aka Arshevin who we should have signed immediately after the games against Zenit and a ?proper? striker, truly I do not think that the Yak is consistent enough and he would not be in a top side.... we are making do and mending up front and we do need someone who can shake up defences and compete consistently... NOT OWEN !!!!
I have basked this season in our positive play and DM has dragged fantastic displays from our depleted squad, he should be the manager of the year for the achievements this season.... BUT we want more of the same next season and beyond!!!
14 Posted 09/05/2009 at 11:06:52
Agree otherwise with what you're saying apart from £30 mill, we need much more than that to break into the top 4. ie Glen Johnson £10 mill , Joaquin £10 mill, V Love £20 mill, M'bia £8 mill ? thats £48 mill and still gives us no depth in squad.
15 Posted 09/05/2009 at 12:08:28
Who we get, not a clue... but Moyes must know who he wants and make his move as early as he can. We need them before pre-season to gel with de rest of the squad.
As for Spurs, I will be gutted if we dont take three points from the game, and lay down a marker for next season...
16 Posted 09/05/2009 at 12:19:02
We have 4 games left this season, all against London sides, the 2 at home (Spurs and WHU) have to been seen as the more winnable ones, then Fulham away, then throw everything at Chelski. What odds we win all 4??
17 Posted 09/05/2009 at 12:41:41
I mean just as an example when Mrs Lamapard passed away last year, tragic a sit was - wasn't the entire thing turned into some kind of Princess Di-esque national fucking tragedy ? I'm sure other players relatives pass away over the course of a season but they dont get this special treatment that this family seems to enjoy.....
Ah and Lampard ringing up that fucking London DJ last week re his wife and kids ? I mean any normal person would switch the radio off and rise above it ? but no I'm fucking Frank Lampard and my mum died last year and you can't say that about me blah blah blah .......... look I know this sounds harsh but do you know what I'm getting at?!!!!!...
18 Posted 09/05/2009 at 13:11:10
I think it meant we haven?t won at home in 5 years, as we beat them away in the last 3 outings. 1-0, 3-1, and 2-0, however havn?t beat them at home since the 3-1 victory in 2004.
Anyway, time to do a double over spurs.
However, what if Jacobson aint fit? Neville at RB with Castillo in middle? Gosling at RB? Yobo at RB and Rodwell in CB? Or will Gosling start if Ossie aint fit?
Should we play Fellaini? He still risks missing the Cup Final if he gets 2 bookings... Should Saha or Vaughan play for more than 15 minutes, they are both out of match practice and we need a striker fit for the Final. A lot of queries as to our first team today...

We could easily have won that and Piennar was brill. The defence looks OK withut Jags and my only worry is whether we have a striker who can score. In the final, our goal will come from Peanuts, or Fellaini if from anywhere.
