Stand by your man

I'd like to congratulate all those who stood by Moyes through some of the dark times earlier this season when others were calling for his head. That also includes some rare but deserved praise to Bill Kenwright. He could have quite easily baulked at offering Moyes a new contract and taken the easy way out and offered his job to the likes of Big Sam or some other wannabe.

I have questioned Moyes in the past, and quite rightly so, as some of the football we have played under him has been dire and negative. We are still far from the finished article and if we repeat the pre-season of inactivity and dithering again next season then I really do think it will be a wasted opportunity to finally break the stranglehold of the so called big four.

But I have seen enough signs this season that we are starting to play the type of football that most of us Evertonians want to see. We don?t do it enough yet and our squad is not big enough to maintain it all season but these are things that have to be addressed during the closed season.

Although we may be as passionate as those trusted to run our club, thank goodness they don?t always act on the opinions of those fans who shout the loudest. I will be singing "Oh Davey Moyes" at Wembley and I think those of you who have stood by him all season will have a satisfied smile on your face as you shout his name out.

All we now need to do is to win the cup, Kick the Kirkby move into touch, sign a few class players before July and I can have a happy summer. It?s not too much to ask for is it?
