The Mail Bag

It's a fix!

Comments (4)

As I'm on holiday at the start of August, I did a search to see if I'll miss this year's "Community Shield". The first few "hits" that I received were all from ticket agencies, including this one from "World Ticket Shop".... I couldn't believe what I was reading!

"The yearly Community Shield match is held between two teams that have won very prestigious national cups in England, so one could say the match decides which of the two teams is ultimately the best of the country. In reality, the atmosphere at the match is very friendly and though both teams definitely compete for the win, the Community Shield Cup itself is not regarded more prestigious than winning the FA Cup or the Premier League. Instead, it is a nice way of starting the new season and provides a nice opportunity for both teams participating to show football supporters around the globe their sign-up for the new season. The Community Shield 2009 is between Chelsea and Manchester United."

Oh, and as it's on 9 August, I probably will miss it!

Same thing when I looked for final tickets. They were advertised on all the foreign package deals as being Man U - Chelsea. And this after the semi-final!

Sunday night in the Guardian online, it said "Sir Alex Ferguson?s Manchester United are Everton?s opponents in Saturday?s FA Cup final.".

It?s pretty scary when people cannot imagine anyone replacing Man U in the final.

And Football 365 congratulated Villa on finishing 5th after their win against Newcastle.

Oh dear. Pity the poor Villa fans who saw that and got all excited...

This is truly awful and I've reported it to numerous people i.e Everton, FA (got a swift response saying its nothing to do with them), and newspapers because this is a fucking disgrace.
