'On the banks of the reflex blue Mersey'

Comments (20)

Looking at the info in the Everton Direct flyer, the colour of the new home kit top is given as 'Reflex' blue... when did we change from 'Royal' blue.

"On the banks of the reflex blue Mersey..." ? just doesn't have the same ring to it...

And when was the last time you seen the mersey blue, a shit house brown with froth is closer. Remember those days at the beach, plopping yourself down on the sand, then sanding yourself off because of the plop.
We can moan all we want, the kit is what it is, just buy it as well as the away kit like we always do and support the club

I own a printing company. We print kits, spiritwear, corporate wear, et al... Reflex Blue is the actual Pantone Matching System color vernacular.

It?s Royal Blue, in layman?s terms. It?s just an accurate printing term for the actual color. Not a big deal.

Jamie, thank god you nipped that in the bud. I was fearing pages of Blue Bill is a gobshite shithouse and selling our history down the drain because he’s a big selfish evil man!

Phew!

To hell with Liverpool and Rangers too,
We'll throw them all in the Mersey,
And will fight fight fight, with all our might,
For the boys in the ?Reflex? Blue jersey

No lads, I get what he means, it's clear from the pics that the Kit isnt ?Royal Blue? or ?Everton Blue? as I like to call it, which is our traditional Colour.

It's like the old one2one home kit we used to have with the band across the middle, that was a very light Blue!

Just an observation!

I agree that the hue just isn’t right. It’s too light a blue, getting on for Rangers rather than EFC. What kind of an outfit can’t even get a simple thing like our kit right? It shows assumed rather than researched understanding of what the fans want. Our boys will look little sailors with that stupid bib.

Hmmm. The Re-Re-Re-Reflex. I suppose the kit is 80?s retro after all!! :.)

The marketing people covered this at a shareholder meeting a few years back. They did some research into the famous kit of the 60?s and it was actually "reflex" blue. Basically this is as good as "royal" blue. However the 83-85 kit was lighter (as was the dreadful one2one kit we had in 98). I suspect that the new kit ? if it follows the 83-85 tradition ? will be a bit lighter than proper reflex.

I worry more about who will pull the kit on rather than the colour. Does it matter really what shade of bule it is? I mean I bet some of those whinging about history and tradition are some of the very people who voted for a move to Kirkby. Think about it.

Peter Bradshaw - not moaning mate, just a light hearted observation - and yes in all probability I will purchase and wear the top at the start of next season.

I hate to sound petty but kits matter.

Bad kits send people down.

Spot on Tony M...the irony of it all
God forbid Kirkby goes ahead but, if it does, Yes people willing to own up will be as rare as those admitting to voting Tory in the late 80s

We’re the lads from the Tescodrome
That you all know
We’re the boys from the banks of the Alt
And we sing in the rain
As we queue for a train
We never voted for this...it’s not our fault

Had same morbid thought when first laying eyes on the new kit and checked it and although I’m now an arl fella to my kids and wear ’reading glasses’, the new kit is deffo ’royal’ blue and think we sometimes have a sense of ’navy’ blue being the right deep soul night out hue for our lads but the new kit is ’royal’ blue so I want them to get it wrong next season and go ’navy’ and i do care cos i do and it matters and i hope we win the league by xmas before the world ends in 2012

There?s something Everton always miss here albeit with a few exceptions. That is, with this penchant to stick too much white into the colourway of the jersey. It?s my belief that the only white in the jersey ? if you?re going to have it all ? should be confined to a discreet collar at most.

Whoever sanctioned the design of this latest jersey with that ridiculous bib needs to have a word with themselves. Our fellas are going to look positively gay in that top.

Denis, not to be pedantic, but the 21st or 23rd. December 2012 is actually the end of the 5th age of mankind, and not necessarily the end of the world.

Anyway, the kit is GAY, a total bastardisation of the 1985 kit ? could you imagine a Glorious Goodison God like Johnny Bailey wearing that??

Considering that a fair percentage of blokes who will wear it will be big biffas with "man boobs" that titty acentuating cut is not clever.

Might be able to get the "war office" her first Everton shirt though....
