Released

Comments (10)

Club website has a list of players released: Castillo gone back from whence he came (Red Star Belgrade), Valente and vd Meyde released, along with Scott Spencer (never became the player he looked like at 16), JP Kissock (never became the player he was in his own head), defenders John Irving and Cory Sinnott and Irish winger Eunan O'Kane, along with some academy kids.

Interestingly, Lars Jacobsen seems to have been retained, so I assume we're in discussions to keep him- there were rumours at one point he was going to Bayern Munich, but they now seem to be after Bosingwa from Chelsea.

Hmmm... surprised about Kissock and Irving; I thought they had been getting pretty good assessments... Wasn't Irving England captain at a number of levels?

Not so surprised about Spencer... I also thought Lukas Jutkeiwicz was headed the same way after what Moyes said about him privately.

I am surprised about Kissock and Irving. What a disappointment Spencer was ? and looks like Jutkiewicz will be too.

Why is anyone surprised about Kissock when Osman gets panned every week for being too lightweight? If ever I saw a case of style over substance it was JP? Doesn’t surprise me at all!

Dave & Sam..: There was a fan article on here a few months back where a guy visited Finch Farm. It was almost a throw-away comment during a chat with David Moyes where he commented on players who join with great prospects, but after a few seasons you realise they won’t make the grade. Lukas’ name was dropped into the conversation...

I?m not surprised at Kissock's release. Earlier this season while out at loan to a 2nd Division team, he struggled to make the grade there and was sent back when the loan was up. If he?d have been decent for them, they would have asked to keep him, which set alarm bells ringing for me.

John, JP Kissock went to Accrington Stanley who couldn?t afford to keep him. He got a few good reviews including one from ex-England U-21 coach Peter Taylor, now manager of Wycombe who said he was the best player on the pitch when they played them. It?s his size that has stopped him from advancing at Everton. He?s had a number of clubs interested and I am sure if he gets a run of games, he?ll prove he?s a decent player.

I watched Kissock when he was on loan at Gretna and he was their best player by a long way, still lightweight but a decent turn and reasonable ability to go around players and decent passing range. He looked like a younger Osman (I didn't say identical), they couldn?t keep him so he came back. So yes, surprised he has gone but we don?t see how they get on at training and if he continued to develop or not.
