What will we say on Friday ?

Comments (33)

I just read that Pienaar is fit to play tomorrow. Good news for optimists but it means we now have everybody fit so WHEN we are eliminated tomorrow night what excuse will we have come Friday ? Oh we're missing Shandy Andy and Nyarko is still probably under contract to us and is just on loan somewhere so once we get those guys back.......

This season is a piece of crap. It seems like we go through this every other year with Moyes and whenever we've had enough someone says "Remember Kendall was on the line in 84 bla bla bla" Look I am not blaming Moyes and I have been telling myself that same story about 84 for the last 13 years... so let's be honest: the seasons over.

For god's sake... can't we actually just wait? Bide your time at least until we actually have a result?? Un-freekin-believable!

That?s right! Un-freekin-believable! Yes, we are out of the "mickey mouse" cup which we can?t even compete. YES, we have not beaten anyone at home and got only one point so far. YES, we have a fucking small squad. YES, we were held by Leige and now have to score and even win in Belgium. YES, YES, YES..... the season is over.

Why can?t you bide your time until we have a result?!?!! Because you have just predicted it and snatched away an article content from Toffeeweb!

But, is it the end of the world...NAAAAH....we still have next season...COYB!

New players need to bed in!
Cahill and Pienaar aren’t match fit!
Arteta still has a stomach problem!
Moyes’ dithering over his contract affects team morale!
Lescott should play central defence / left back!

God there’s loads of excuses.

Oh ye of little faith!! Let?s get behind the lads - if we can?t be there in the flesh we can support them in our minds. Let?s wait and see what the outcome is when the final whistle goes. Remember, it?s not over until the fat lady sings or in this case Blue Bill!!

Well, I don?t know, Kieran has a point here - this match could go anyway, win lose or draw - anything can happen in football, "you have to have a clear strategy, policy" in the words of David Pleat! Anything could happen - and probably will including balloonists landing on the pitch, the referee breaking his leg, no one turning up because the match tickets stated KO 6:40 on 9th October ......

Pienaar is not match fit mateys, he?s had no reserve team action and his inclusion in the squad just shows how desperately thin we are in midfield!

I?m not making excuses already for tonight but I just want to make a point that people seem to choose to ignore on this site.

Hibbert and Cahill have been reintroduced to the first team without any reserve team action, so they along with Pienaar in substance are still in their pre season and not match fit! I?ve heard Moyes state recently that Arteta is still not match fit after his stomach injury, and Yobo plus Osman are suffering with repetitive strain injuries to ankle and knee respectively I believe. Vaughan and Baines are also still struggling for match fitness

When will people learn that football is not black and white, no one on here seems to entertain the idea that this lack of match fitness is a factor for our poor start!

Only Newcastle have started the season with a worse injury list than ours.

I?m convinced that when we can field 11 match fit players (we?re no where near yet in midfield) our form will improve and we?ll climb the league.

Unfortunately with this seasons injuries we?re in a similar place to Spurs last season, and on a positive note look at how they improved when their players recovered.

Come on guys,

its gettingt ridiculous, what Kieran would you be happy if we lose so you can come here and say "I told you so"

I dont know whether this is some kind of masochism, waiting your team to lose so you can go to TW and gloat about it? Whats the point supporting Everton?

Most of the contributors here are waitng Everton to slip to start berating the team, when we were winning and showing title winning form Jan-March 2008, there were days without any new contribution to TW, now we lose some games and everyone becomes so clever - " We are shit, we are useless, etc"

If you want Everton to lose so you can feel better fair and square - real Evertonian

I think we will go out tonight - though my heart is trying to convince me we will nick it in the 90th minute and win 1-2.

My first post on what promises to be a memorable day for Everton. Not surprisingly, I do not share the total negativity of this thread as I am sure we are more than capable of ?bringing home the bacon?. Contrary to popular opinion,we cannot attempt - or need - a gung-ho approach to this fixture and for once, Davey?s proven tactic of ?keeping it tight and hope to nick one? will meet with universal approval. Therefore, I suspect that the starting line-up will show only Castillo for Fellaini as a change from Saturday with Saha ready and waiting in an emergency. Of course, if as rumoured, Pins is available we can expect him to figure at some stage.

This is a game for pragmatism in which ?going down gloriously? will have no merit or reward. But what we can be sure of is that whatever team takes the field it will be that best equipped, trained and briefed to do the job! IMWT.
COYB!

Alan you could have both if we picked the following team

Replace Tim Howard with Millhouse in goal minus the glasses of course

R/B has to be Ralphy instead of Phil, twin centre halves Lenny & Carl, left back Smithers !

Midfield, Barney Grumble or AVDM, Nelson and Willie for some bite and on the left Monty Burns.

Up front Homer to replace the Yak ( same size shirt ) and Apu.

Manager has to be Mo, obvious. Assistant = Ned Flanders Okeley Dokeley

All looked over by Mayor Quimbey with a suitcase full of cash

Darren Boyce - and just exactly WHEN do you exepct us to have an injury free squad? Given the fact that our sqaud is tiny to begin with, on top of the fact that we have so many injury prone players such as Vaughan, Shandy, Cahill etc I think we will be pretty fucked.

People say Kendall in 84 was near to losing it- he hand’t been in teh job for 7 years then though.

Why do you even bother to say you support Everton.

What sort of support are you showing now, when you are all happy to come on here and say "we are going out" "the season is over".

We might get beat, we might Draw, we might even will. At least wait till its finished.

Alan, they aren’t excuses they’re valid reasons that contribute to our poor start.

Joe, I don’t expect us to ever have an injury free squad, I’m merely pointing out that our small squad is carrying many more not fully match fit and injured players than we ever did last season hence the poorer performances in comparison. Even though you’ve shot me down I still believe its a valid point.

I know what i would be saying to Arteta on friday, your not taking anymore corners you gutless shithouse. World class !! dont make me laugh, world class players do it in big games not like him, Last minute we have a corner goalie goes up and he hits low to the near post, he is totally over rated, i’d swap him for fernandez in a hearbeat.
