Midfield Balance

Comments (13)

David Moyes spoke today that the balance of the midfield hasn't been right and that last Sunday against Newcastle was what he thinks the best he has been able to field. Does this mean that over the coming games there will be no place for Captain fantastic or will he simply put him in at right back? Either way, Moyes will make sure he can accomodate Phil Neville in some capacity regardless of his piss poor form.

Oh god... not another Phil Neville in midfield" thread.

Still, there seems to be very little else happening at the minute. I haven't seen a single news story worth linking to in the last two days... So Have At IT!

Andy Crooks - Is this like a ?Wheres Wally? game, only with Dan wearing a blue & white stripped jumper ?

Michael - Might be worth following up that story in the Telegraph about three EPL clubs being contacted by their banks. Just got told & am about to check it out now.

No nothing worth linking too there.

Back to the thread: he had all summer to get the right players in & get the balance right... so no-one to blame but himself ? as he kept saying, he had the funds!

We looked a completely different side with Pienaar back, although sadly he struggled to give 90 minutes. Hibbo has been beaten by losing his man at the back post twice in the last 2 games so that needs seriously addressing.

The only thing worse than a ?Neville in midfield? debate is an Andy VDM one!

I don?t know what game you lot have been watching, because I think Neville has been our most consistent performer this season. When deployed in his right position (RB) he has been very good. He is also an excellent captain and wears the shirt with pride. Get off his back

I think if we have got any money left we should try for Noble from West Ham. He?s young, tenacious and would go straight in to the team.

Mark - I agree that Pienaar made a hell of a difference. I was surprised to see him start but was glad that he did. The midfield seemed so much more balanced & we were keeping possession up-front much better than of late.

Time for DM to start getting things right.

1. Replace Howard with Nash ? Tim is having a terrible season so far;
2. Give Castillo a chance at defensive midfield ? he could be the new Carsley, and I presume that's what he was bought for;
3. Actually play Vaughan, not bring him on with 6 mins to go ? he is the future of Everton.
4. Never even dream of letting Shandy Andy put on a blue shirt.

My Midfield would be :
Pienaar - Fellaini - Castillo - Arteta.

This is a balanced midfield for me, but as we know, Moyes likes to stick with his old guns or the players he?s spent a lot of money on.

Pride before a fall.

Sorry but whatever else we may have reason to thank David Moyes for, he couldn?t tell the difference between a balanced midfield and a dead badger.

Throughout the whole of his tenure we have never had a balanced midfield and apart from a brief purple patch from Gravesen a few years ago and a few games last season, we have never had a creative one either.

That is why we play hoofball.

We play ?up and over? the midfield.

That is Moyes? football philosophy I?m afraid. A balanced midfield for Davey is midfielders not getting dizzy and falling over as they watch the ball flying over their heads.

Have to agree with Tommy?s chosen midfield.

Are we ever gonna get rid of that piece of shit player call Phil Neville? (replace him with Bryce Moon).
