Squad Value?

Comments (17)

After watching Sunday Supplement on Sky Sports, apparently Newcastle in their breakdown of club valuation to prospective new buyers have their squad valued at £100 million... cue much laughter and shock from presenter and guests.

It made me think what would our squad valuation be? If Newcastle's squad is that much surely ours must be a little higher? Or lower!

There has to be a vacancy first and only 2 people can create one, (1) Bill Kenwright, I would hope if it happens that he has a candidate lined up... and (2) David Moyes, and I don?t think he will really care.

But we?ll no doubt stagger on with forgiveness and excuses for the poor results vs the Arse and the Mancs... yeah but, no but, no one beats them, Sky 4 slags.

Then it will be bish bash bosh, halloween, bonny night, Christmas and the annual FA Cup fiasco will become our season-defining game. The OS will have Capt Pip saying, a la Big Joe, "Put a quid on us for the Cup, I feel this could be our year as all the lads are up for it."

There will be no buyer.

Moyes will still not have signed his contract... "I?ve been too busy trying (and failing) to sign, xxxxxx, xxxxxx and xxxxxx ? all top-class £20mill+ players ? for a couple of mill down and the rest over the next five years, but I won?t be rushed into over-priced panic buys or held to ransom by greedy players / agents."

Doddy will write... thats the Man we at the peoples club know and love Mr Integrity personified, it will all come right, we won?t be relegated, my sources at the club assure me of this.

Marshy?s head will explode with fury.

Jacobsen and AvdM will be nearly fit again

Ross says IT?S LIKE SIGNING TWO NEW PLAYERS.

Pass the Hemlock, it?s all too much.

Interesting Q Dan - I?ve often wondered about that especially when trying to compare our squad value with Big 4 and other teams. I have tried to scour the internet but couldn?t find the info in any one place and gave up. Maybe some smarter Toffeeweber has pulled all the info together.

It?d be interesting to see a league table of squad values to see who is under or over performing. Would that be a true test of the value of a good manager?

Everton’s squad has so many passengers that the overall value’s in the red. We should apply for a bailout.

Can we expect to find this figure mentioned in the club?s soon to be published accounts. I would think that any figure more than £60M would be a gross exaggeration !

The sale of Everton is nearly complete - from the horse's mouth of the club's solicitors on Friday.

Roughly... just roughly ? about £90m. Big values: Arteta 12, Yakubu 15, Fellaini 10? Cahill 5, Yobo 5, Lescott 7, Jags 6, Baines 4, Howard 4. Vaughan, Anichebe, Neville, Hibbert , Baxter, Rodwell, Pinnaar ? all around £2-4m ).

Let's hear the arguments!!

There?s no way this can be true ? all very important announcements happen in 48 hours :0) Tom, you?re a day too early with that rumour!! Come back with more information tomorrow.....

This is the way I see it in the current market
Fellaini 7m

Arteta 10m
Yak 15m
Cahill 6m
Lescott 9m
Yobo 6m
Jags 5m
Baines 4m
Osman 5m
Neville 2m (astounding, i know - but some clown will pay it)
Hibbert 2m
Howard 3m
Pienaar 3m
vic 4m
Vaughan 2m

The rest are worthless.

That's 83mill...

I don’t think Mike Oates is too far away from the truth, certainly not worth arguing against.

Arteta-12, Yak-15, Fellaini-10, Lescott-10, Yobo-8, Howard-6, Cahill-8, Pienaar-6, Osman-4, Baines-5, Jagielka-6, Hibbert-3, Neville-3, Vaughan-5, Ancihebe-5, Saha-3, Rodwell-2, Baxter-1, =112 mill

Everyone else we have is worth near next to nothing (e.g. Valente, VDM and our other youngsters). People may think I?ve put a high price on some players, but you only have to look at how prices have rocketed on players over the summer (if Anton Ferdinand is worth 8 mill, Yobo is worth atleast that too and Arteta is valued around the same price as what Aston Villa paid for Milner, although I feel Arteta is a much better talent). Oh and I forgot to mention our other big signing - Carlo fuckin Nash... haha.

Richard,

We?ll see. This is also the reason that DM hasn?t signed his contract.

Tom Maloney - A while ago I worte the same thing. DM is holding off for the so called new investment. Stuck that one on here over a month ago but it didn?t get anywhere. I don?t know what you know, or how you come to know it but we?ll keep our fingers crossed something will happen, on both fronts.

Maybe Richard Harris is Keith Harris?s brother or son and is trying to lead us up the wrong path, steer us away. Unless he is actually Keith himself and wants to be the one to break the news.
Tom, write it again tomorrow and see what happens...

No one has mentioned AvDM. Surely that must bump the value up?

Ollie Grange says -"105 million".

Andy Crooks says - "No one has mentioned AvDM.surely that must bump the value up?"

Can I suggest 3?.

So all told, that would be one hundred and five million and three pounds.

Seems about right.

Being an optimistic 'glass half-full' type of person, I would say that AvdM is worth much more with a half-full glass. Never really thought about this sort of stuff but it seems that at least in terms of the club?s valuation, Moyes has done BK some big favours. As for individuals, I would put Pienaar higher and Yak and Arteta lower than others have done here. But then again, who gives a monkey's?

Players’ valuations: Hibbert at £2m or £3m?! Well I must be worth £500k then and I’m in my fifties!

Thanks for the laugh ...
