Joey coming home?

Comments (39)

Working in Newcastle and spending too much time in Quayside watering holes(!) I met a few of the Toon fringe players in "3i8ht" last night watching the England game and they were adamant Joey Barton was on his way to us come January. I know he can be "bad music" but he could be just what we're lacking in midfield.

And we're a forgiving lot, aren't we?

I, personally, would not visit Goodison Park if he was in the team. I would support the club, as always, but would not pay my own money or time to visit if he was in the team.

Same goes for Craig Bellamy, incidentally.

I second that. Barton’s got an evil streak in him, he’s not a loveable rogue as some make him out to be.

Here we go

Cue all the two-faced hypocrites who have never put a foot wrong themselves and believe there can be NO redemption for a guy trying to start again.
The guy?s done his time. If he steps out of line again, there can be no more chances, but at least he should be given the opportunity to show he?s learned his lesson.

I?d have him here.

For crying out loud. The lad gets linked to us EVERY month, he should have signed for us a thousand times right now. Only Alan Smith is mentioned more often!

Are you on drugs mate????

Barton is a scumbag. He has had second chances and blew them.

I agree with Jeremy and Paul on this one, don't want that twat anywhere near my team under any circumstances.

Stubs a cigar out in teammate's eye, batters another one in training, then beats up a young lad in town coz he?s pissed.

And you talk about redemption?? FFS get a grip mate!

No lad I’m not on drugs, but I’m no angel either, I fucked up in my teens and early twenties and it would be hypocritical of me to condem this fella out of hand.

Good to know you are such shining examples to us all though

I?m afraid Joey Barton stands for everything I hate about modern society so, I for one will not go to the ground. Have a look at some of the footage when he?s hitting some poor sod, makes me sick every time!

Please, someone ? tell me it's bollocks.

To be fair, we don’t watch or support the team based on the morals or personalities of the players. I’m sure most Man United fans would admit that Ronaldo is an arrogant prick. On the other hand, I personally think he’s unstable and would disrupt team morale. I would be suprised if Moyes signed him.

It's not going to happen; Moyes will not sign him so it's all a bit academic.

Garry, I haven't seen the footage, chose not to when I heard about it coz I?m a bit squeamish too. If it makes you sick every time, can I suggest you stop watching it.

I believe football players should be role models for kids. I wouldn?t want any of my kids emulating the antics of Joey Barton, that for sure.

Maybe I am wrong and he?s doing some work helping disadvantaged kids not to make the same mistakes he has made, or maybe he?s just swanning round in his Ferrari.

Training ground fights are one thing, we saw it with high profile rugby players last week. I suspect most of us have got involved in some sort of fisticuffs whilst pissed of a saturday night. But to deliberately stub a cigar in someones eye really takes a special brand of evil that is nigh on impossible to comprehend. It amazes me that of all that twats "misdemeanors" how little that one action is contemplated. Had he actually landed that cigar where he intended that Tandy kid would have blinded in one eye for life. Utterly despicable, I don’t care how good the boy is (and he’s not anyway) he should be banned for life by the FA on sheer principle.

Joey Barton is an Evertonian and he will play with passion on the field... unlike some of the current shite we have in middle.

Evertonians are no angels with some of the vile abuse we give him when he comes to play at Goodison.

Joey Barton ? just what Everton need.

Here it is, fellow suffering Blues. If he signed and stayed out of trouble, got Man of the Match every week, scored a few vital goals and forced his way into the England set-up, all would be forgiven and his name would be sung from the heavens. If on the other hand he hadn?t learnt anything we?d all be calling it a disgrace he was signed. (That?s Togger)

Regardless of which special brand of evil flows through this scumbags veins, he?s actually not that good anyway! We would have a hateful man worsen our midfield! Good god no! I would never go to a game again if he signed for us.

I wouldn?t be at all surprised ? particularly if he?s going cheap. I suspect Moyes will try to cut his losses on Fellaini (explaining we would only have paid £15M for him when we won the World Club Championship!) and go for Barton and Bullard. Oh,and Alan Smith is still on the shopping list if he comes ?pay as you play?.

It really shows the character of those who would support a cretin like Barton. The lad earns stupid amounts of money yet doesn't have the mental capacity to stay on the straight and narrow. He?s not just violent, abusive and a scumbag, he?s a brainless idiot to boot and that will never change. Everton have enough twats in the crowd without allowing one on to the pitch in the royal blue everyweek.

Like a hole in the head........
I?ve never booed a player in our colours but if this idle rumour ever came true, then I?d make an exception for Joey Barton. Has Roy ever met him? I suspect not. I?ve met him a few times and on personal experience he?s not just a loveable misunderstood rogue. Most of the people with a dodgy past had no chances early in life ? Joey Barton is doing what many kids dream of and is paid a vast wage.

There’s a difference between adding bite and just being rash. Joey Barton is a rash player, he makes more fouls than he wins tackles. It’s a myth that the lad can tackle, he really can’t.

Looking at him as a footballer I don’t rate him and never have done. He’s just a half decent box to box midfielder, he doesn’t have any major strengths. Not great going forward nor is he great defensively.

That’s just looking at him as a player, that’s all I care about really. I don’t rate him and I don’t think he’d offer us anything. We can definatly do better.

Mugabe is already employed at EFC (he was the one that counted the votes for the move to Kirkby)...

Alternatively, I think we could use Joseph Stalin and Enoch Powell - extreme left and right wingers who know how to get close to the line go past people like they aren’t even there...

I’d rather we had Warren Barton playing for us - Joey Barton is a complete moron with no regard for other people; have you seen that footage of him beating the crap out of that kid??!

He stubbed a cigar out in the eye of a youth team player, punched an Everton supporter who was about 15 AND beat the crap out of that Toon player (names escapes me) - I think thats enough reasons to never have anything to do with him.

No, just no.
