Senderos???

Comments (12)

Another rumour... Must admit i am horrified if its true!!

Everton have made a bid believed to be around £6m for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos, according to the Daily Star newspaper.

The newspaper claims the 24-year-old Swiss international is a replacement for Joleon Lescott, who they assert is close to completing a £20m move to Manchester City

I personally don’t think us being linked with Senderos has any relation to Man City’s move for Lescott.

Moyes has made no secret of the fact that he’s is after cover at centre back. We currently have two fit centre backs with any kind of Premier League experience so a move for Senderos would make sense regardless of any deal for JLo.

Ok, Senderos hasn’t had a good couple of years but he’s still relatively young had bags of top flight experience and in my opinion put in some collossal performances during Arsenal's run to the Champions League final. I’d be quite pleased if we got him for £6m. With Jags, Yobo and Lescott, we’d have real strength in depth in that position.

Senderos got 5 goals in 15 for AC Milan last season. Like David says, young and experienced. Probably never hear his name linked again.

As David states, Moyes has already been quoted as saying we need cover, Jags is out and Yobo will be off to the AcoN in January so we deffinitely need cover.

The three words that stand out most of all about that rumour is "The Daily Star".....in other words some bored journo making up stories minutes after the official line of "Lescott is not for sale" is reiterated with an instant knock back of the improved Man Shitteh bid.

I've been scouring the websites this afternoon, looking for any news re Senderos. Let's be fair, I really do hope City get knocked back (Am I worried that BK might agree to a DFS type deal, eg buy now pay later?) We really should (if we ARE gonna sell JLo) hang out for a massive pay now deal, £30m I think.

BUT, I think JLo’s silence IMHO speaks volumes for his stance at staying at Everton. Keep Lescott, sign Senderos (for cover) and just think of the back 4 we can draw from when Jags is back?

Like I said, that's why websites like ToffeeWeb are really good. It gives a chance for ordinary fans like me to give their opinions.

In Moyes We Trust

ps: RIP Bobby, we’ll all miss you mate.

He certainly fits David Moyes’s criteria of a player who can still be moulded and have the problems ironed out of his game.

Under his, Steve Round's and Alan Stubbs’s tutelage he could turn out to be a very useful acquisition, we’d have three very good central defenders on our ranks meaning we could concentrate on the other areas in need of attention, namely the right flank.

Senderos is a good defender who lacks pace and albeit a little confidence of late.

My girlfriends an Arsenal supporter so I’ve seen enough of him over the years to know that he would be an excellent addition to the squad.

My concern however is when are we going to stop pussy-footing around and buy a pacy winger???

Defenders every year... enough already!

Well according to today’s News of The World, Lescott will this week force the issue via a written transfer request. Claiming he’s already had 4 meetings with Moyes saying he wants to talk to City.

I know it’s only the News of The Screws, but what with the rumour that City will make a take-it-or-leave it bid of £22M this week, seems there’s been stuff going on behind the scenes. The club could of course refuse to take it, but then it’s gonna be how does Lescott feel, and how will the fans feel.

Remember the treatment Jeffers and Speed got after they asked for transfers (for vastly different reasons I might add!). Wouldn’t fancy facing the Gwladys St after one of his occasional howlers!

I wouldn’t want to keep any player against their wishes but the prospect of the World Cup next year will surely keep Joleon focused.

Whatever happens with Lescott I hope we do buy Senderos: Prem player, international, young for a centre-back (as I feel they improve with age), and well schooled at the Arse.

I hope it's not true. Senderos is a donkey: slow and indecisive.

As of now (Monday afternoon BST) this has begun to be reported as ’done deal’ and ’the worst kept secret in football’ (I’m not sure its important enough to be that). Another claim is that Senderos is at our stadium today. Can anyone categorcially refute that? (please).

He’s signed according to UEFA.com (the german version)

http://de.uefa.com/competitions/uefacup/news/kind=1/newsid=869143.html

Signed at 17 for £2.5m by Wenger who considered making him captain ahead of Henry at the age of 21 - he must have shown something?
