Rasmus Elm

Seems as though Mr Elm is hinting to David Moyes that he would like to play for Everton:

"I want to join a club where the coach gives me big confidence. I got a good impression of David Moyes. I don't close the door to any league, but the Premier League is more tempting than the Eredivisie. The overall picture is important, but the biggest club is not necessarily the right one for me."

This translates pretty easy: I like David Moyes. I prefer the Premier League. I don't want Man City's money. I like Everton.

Now... Does Moyes want him? — is the question.

Moyes obviously wants him, or else he wouldn’t've had him flown over to look around.

Either we don’t have any money yet, or the money we do have is being held back for another player maybe?

In my opinium, if the lad wants to come to EFC then fucking sign on the line, end of. All this BS about the best club for me etc etc... If you want to play for us then sign.

We’ll have to put a bid in and offer a contract before he can sign anything.

If he’s such a hot prospect and he wants to sign, we really should just sign him before Happy Harry hijacks him from under our noses or Sparkey offers him silly money to warm the Man City bench.

We don't look like doing any business until they sell Lescott or the Sky cheque clears... Billy Bullshitter and lastminute.com all over again and again and again and again.

He wants him alright, but he probably won’t get him due to the Club’s predictable but frustratingly inept transfer policy, which is to prevaricate over possible deals resulting in missing out on identified targets. Today we have missed out on Delph, looks like Madrid want Defour, then there is the Naughton debacle. This exact scenario happened 12 months ago — when will they ever learn?

Several press associations seem to be running a fairly confident "Senderos to Everton" claim. Apparently it has been confirmed by the Swiss press, and all the usual English news outlets have followed suit.

Could be an interesting few days; people will undoubtedly speculate on what this will mean for Joleon Lescott’s future on Merseyside. Oh well.

It seems like a simple choice, assuming that Everton and Man City are truly Rasmus Elm’s two choices. He may get paid a little less money if he signs for Everton, but he’ll be guaranteed more playing time. If he signs a contract with Everton, it’s not like he has to fulfill the contract if he doesn’t like it here. Contracts these days mean nothing; so, if he wants to move on after a year or two, then he can move on.

Senderos would be ace in marking Drogba.

Oh please NO!

I think his comments hint that the two clubs interested are Ajax and Everton and that he would prefer to come to Everton because of Moyes and opportunity to play in the Premier League.

I hope he does sign, I only got a brief glimpse of him in the U21 championships but he looks to have good technique and Moyes does like to employ attacking midfielders out wide and a blind man can tell we are short in the wide areas.

I won’t hold my breath though

Apart from his goals Lescott was pretty average last year and utter rubbish at the start and There is no way Drogba would have got ahead of Jags if he was playing at Wembley for his goal.
Fuck em, get Senderos in get the money and buy a good wide player we are craving for, no central defender is worth over £15M in my eyes.

Just thought I’d drop my tuppeneth in...

Over and over again I am reading on here that we won’t be doing any business in the transfer market until ’the Sky cheque clears’.

Surely that is not the reason we appear to be dragging our transfer heals AGAIN?! The Premier League money (whenever the cheque is received, be it be one single ’lump-sum’ cheque or a far more likely (IMO) installment arrangement) is guaranteed income. Does that not therefore mean securing finance against this is a formality? I appreciate that any finance is more difficult to get nowadays - but surely we are able to borrow on the strength of it???

And, while I’m on - are we not seeing exactly the same set of circumstances (missed transfer targets and apparent lack of available finance) that only 12 months ago appeared to be the reason David Moyes appeared to be getting itchy feet?

Lescott is gone in all but name, that much is looking increasingly clear. I for one don’t buy this mystery ’hip injury’ for a second. And I don’t think that’s such a bad thing. Senderos or similar plus ~£15m seems like a very good deal to me, assuming all/most of the money is able to be used for squad improvement.

Oh yeah - we were supposed to be talking about Elm:

I don’t think any of us know him from a bar of soap. He’s almost certainly a gamble - he might be amazing down the line, more likely just decent, possibly useless. We have to trust Moyes on this as he’s the one that trialled him, but no reason to get excited either way - I do hope Moyes has got much bigger fish to fry this summer esp. if the Lescott deal goes through.... Nice that Elm likes Moyes though I guess.

What’s all this crap about waiting for the Sky cheque to clear, business doesn’t work like that, we had the money to buy Naughton so what’s changed?

It sounds to me more like the lad’s taking his time (can’t blame him) and maybe seeing who else is tempted to step in.

As for Senderos, I’m not convinced but willing to get behind him to let him come good. Remember, Lescott was dropped early season because he was all over the place.

This drawn out transfer is killing me, I really think this boy is a gem. When I first heard us being linked to him i checked him out on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9y8g4aZHF0) and was mightily impressed, his technique seems top class and that’s something you can’t really teach. But being youtube I thought, ok, large pinch of salt, anyone can look good on there. Since then I have watched him in two recent games, the champions league qualifier (he ran the show scoring two goals in a 3-1 win) and the latest league game (supposedly attended by City scouts) in which he did this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFOV2AiBsno. It really does seem like all Kalmar’s good play comes from him and I will be absolutely gutted if our dithering allows City to poach him from under our noses.

I’d bang in a 8mill big for kranjar at pompy, they gotta sell according to reports today. fuck elm!!
Karl Masters
20   Posted 04/08/2009 at 13:58:05

Yes, Lee. Krancjar would be good for us.

One player I can’t understand why we haven’t tried to get him is Scott Brown at Celtic- a very talented, energetic and committed player in my eyes. And also would cost relatively less than many other options.

As for Elm, I don’t know much about him, but I see that Roy Hodgson at Fulham is definitely interested and he is a wily old fox. Getting Fulham to 7th was Moyesiah like really and don’t rule Fulham out if this guy is concerned with the quality of the coach as much as the size of the club.

Totally agree Karl, I would have loved to have signed Scot Brown, his career kinda stood still under Strachen, but he’s with a manager who thinks the world of him and he will flourish again, think we missed a trick there

Talking of Sellic, I caught a quick glimpse of a young boy from Derry leaving half a dozen playeras in his wake at wembley a couple of weeks ago, but I was in a crowded boozer and could’nt make out his name, I think it was macort, can anyone shed any light there ?

Just been on SSN that we’re in talks for him - whatever that means.*

*Probably that Spurs/City will have signed him in a few days.

I’ve never seen Elm play, but spoke to a mate who lives in Stockholm. He says Elm is a class act and the best player in Sweden at the moment. He can play centre mid or right mid and has an awsome shot on him

I can’t wait really...I want to see him in Everton soon.
