Don't Blame...

Comments (16)

Forget about blaming the club, or blaming the chairman, I've worked out what the problem is... the internet... No, think about it; all that time browsing through countless pages of football rumour and innuendo — all of which is primarily based upon some crap made up by a tabloid journo.

How much calmer would I be if I was ignorant of the fact that EFC are waiting for a Swedish player to decide upon coming to the club when they haven't even made a bid yet?

How much happier if I didn't know that the club hadn't bought a first team player yet?

How much more peaceful if I was unaware that Spurs can sign Bassong in a day, Liverpool can sign Aquilani in a day... and EFC takes a week and still haven't signed a defender that nobody apparently wants a week after we start chatting (FFS)!

I reckon if we did away with all of this 'news' I could spend my summers calmly waiting to see what happens and not work myself up into a lather over a club that launches a black and pink football kit by using the Maori Haka — I mean come on, what complete tosser thought that one up? The kit isn't even 'all' black! - and even were it...

(pause for apoplectic rant)... (and relax)

After all, it is only because of all of this 'space to fill' that I know David Moyes wants to 'get players in early this year to let them settle before the season starts... and that the money has been put aside... and that Kirkby can't be built because of voles...

So if the internet didnt exist you still wouldnt be aware that we had not signed a first team player? How did we know anything before the net came along? I'm sure I remember finding out about us signing players before turning up and seeing who ran out of the tunnel!!

Before T’internet I used to scan Ceefax, Aertel, Oracle, whatever Itv’s pages are and look at back page of every paper about 5 times a day.

The internet has just increased the frequency not the frustraion.

Spot on Rupert. Noel Coward once said that Television wasn’t for watching, it was for appearing on.

Lord knows what he’d have made of the internet. Or Tony Marsh...

I think in the case of Elm - We will have contacted Kalmar to see if he was available and what fee they were after. Obviously we weren’t a million miles apart for us then to be given permission to bring the lad over for a butchers of finch farm, where we probably got an idea off his representative of what personal terms they were looking for. Apparently he left with a good impression but I’ve no doubt we’re not the only club he’s spoken to and now we’re waiting for him to make a decision. It’s a shame he hasn’t already joined but we’ll have to wait and see.

Senderos is a different one. Apparently Hamburg are interested but his preference is EFC and personal terms have been agreed. So why hasn’t he signed? Are we waiting on Lescott? Has BK lost his chequebook? I don’t know.

After all the ’get players in early this year to let them settle before the season starts... talk I wonder. Nothing is ever straight forward with us and it’s understandable why are fans are left so frustrated. We seem to say one thing then do the other.

However, supporting EFC is a rollercoaster of emotions and we love it. Reading all the gossip columns etc passes the time in work and there’s only a week or so to go.

I blame the obsessive people who populate this site, and whine about the fact we haven’t unveiled any "big names," yet. Happens every season; The same generic, regurgitated speculation stories, rumours leading to moaning because EFC haven’t sated your appetite to mentally masturbate over the latest arrival.

Let the club get on with it !
Stop inflicting boring articles/comments every other day people !!
It’s supposed to be the holiday season, folks !!

Ah I get it Rupert,so when I want to blame the chairman for fucking up the Kings Dock arena I am wrong it was all down to the internet?

How about it was the internet who employed Bully Beef Wyness?

I blame the internet for turning our lovely chairman in to a complete Gobshite and making him skint.I mean its the internet that cant afford to keep hold of Lescott isnt it?

Please, please, please don’t mention those fuckin’ Maori’s ever again.

My jaw still hasn’t unclenched itself from the sheer cringeworthyness of it all.

I never though I would see the day where a proud race of people, famed for their aggressiveness and ability to intimidate were reduced to camping it up in Liverpool city centre by prancing about displaying pink cocks on their chests and chanting silly little dittys - dear, oh dear, oh dear...

I’m giving up Rugby Union.,,and if I were a Maori chief back in New Zealand I would demand the heads, literally on a pike, of all the dancers who took part in that effrontery and the idiot/idiots at EFC who authorised it.

Haha class, Tottenham agree a fee for Bassong in a day and sign him within 24 hours, what do Everton do? Takes weeks and weeks to negotiate a price and we’re still no closer to signing anyone. We were in talks with Senderos a week before Tottenham even bid for Bassong but they snap up there targets there and then. What must these everton targets be thinking? It really doesn’t show much about Everton’s desire to bring them to the club by dragging it out for this long.

All I have wanted over the last 2 years is a pacy winger to be brought in, doesn’t have to be anyone amazing or expensive just someone who can run at their man and have the pace and ability to take on an opponent but it looks like Leon remains first choice again next year in that department.

I’m afraid I’ll have to stick to blaming the board and the manager. Yes, that’s right, the manager. I’ll always give Moyes the respect he’s due for the many positive things he has brought to the club. However......

As yet another transfer debacle unfolds, i do lay SOME of the blame on him. His posturing last summer regarding the club needing to match his own ambitions etc seems to be no closer realised ( we can assume his ambition isn’t to NOT improve the squad ) and yet he doesn’t seem to be moaning about how ill prepared we are to win premiership games this time round does he? In fact, on the whole he seems far less stressed than last year! Maybe that new lucrative contract has dulled his anger and frustration?

In my opinion Moyes signed his contract because a) he wanted ( and deserved ) his pay rise. b) he was given assurances we WOULD match his ambitions. c) Both.

Does anyone dispute that?

So why then, are we seemingly repeating the joke of what was last summers transfer window? Those of you who won’t hear a bad word said against Moyes can surely see that he’s either been shit on by the board ( in which case why doesn’t he show that famous integrity and call their bluff? ) or he was/is aware of our financial restraints and has chose to go along with them. A fair assessment?

Either way, as a fan and someone who works hard and pays good money to support the club, i feel totally let down and shit on. I don’t want Moyes showing his integrity by being respectful to other managers or loyal to the board etc. I want him to show it to us, the fans.

Showing integrity is not done by winning matches or making us a progressive club. ( both things he has done and should be applauded for ) It is by doing the right thing when faced with difficult choices. If we’re skint then fine. But he either new this would be the scenario when he signed the contract, or he has been fooled by Kenwright and the board and should tell them to f*ck right off. Call their bluff even. Do something.

To do nothing makes him no better than Kenwright. Harsh, but that’s how i feel just now. ( maybe being over £600 lighter does that to you )

Like I’ve stated in previous posts, I’ll always be grateful to Moyes for how he and the players have helped transform our fortunes these past few years. I’m using these forums to let off some steam. I’ll be at the match tonight supporting the lads as always. You’ll not hear a boo or a shitty throwaway remark about Hibberts passing or about Osman being out-muscled by the wind. I’ll do my duty and cheer them on.

I just hope to God that we sign some players and give ourselves a fighting chance this season. It only takes Spurs to click and the likes of Villa and Fulham to have another good season and we’ll be hard pressed to make Europe again. If that happens and we have a relatively poor season, i can see the likes of Pienaar and Arteta wanting to go. Maybe others too.

Let’s hope we do give ourselves a fighting chance.

Clearly, the reason why Spurs can sign a player in 2 days is due to the fact they have some money to spend and we don’t until either A) The Sky cheque is cashed, or B) Lescott goes!

I blame the internet for that as well!!

Its the boards job to get money to sign players. The board have not done that. Moyes too must hold his hands up also how many other managers would sit back and not strengthen the side he has. We were in a good position this summer back to back 5th places, F.A.cup runners up a manger well respected, a decent youth policy so we should have been able to get players to come but somehow we have not. So dont blame the internet or the fans. Blame the board and Moyes as they are the only ones with a say in transfers.

I blame the internet for Richard Dodd.

I blame Kenwright for the utter shambles our transfer system is. Anthony Millington is right, we need a fucking winger and Moyes must surely see that. I think the squad could be vastly improved by investing £15 million on a winger and a right back. If Kenwright can’t find that paltry amount of money in Premier League terms then he should fuck off. As each week has passed without us "bringing players in early" I’ve become more and more frustrated with this clown. I’ll be interested to see what team Moyes puts out against the Czechs because we surely don’t have the numbers to compete in Europe and the league.

The lack of transfers has me fuming. A great chance to challenge for a CL place has been thrown away because BK can't give his manager any money for players. We are a joke and I hate transfer windows as I become more frustrated each passing day as we continue not to sign players to improve problem areas. Every other club can wrap up transfers in a day bar us. Why?

Still they get our season ticket money in earlier and earlier each season with false promises and we fall for it every year... BK must be laughing his socks off. He doesn't do his job in getting cash for new players and yet he gets away with it scott-free.

The RS have spent about £70 million in the last 2 years and their owners get all sorts of abuse. BK can't believe his luck — we don't spend a penny this year and hardly any complaints.
