Missing: One Centre-Half... (Last spotted

... Last spotted "having talks" with Everton... a week ago!
I'll keep it simple... where the fuck is Senderos??? Anyone?
I'm not exaclty his number one fan, but we were "having talks" with him a week ago, in amongst the noise and confusion of Joleon "coming or going", have I missed something here?
Apparently he wasn't a replacement for Lescott, so whether that particular "saga" continues or not surely we should have signed him by now. (I'm basing my timescales on the fact that Villa signed Delph 24hrs after talks were confirmed.)

It’s the Everton Way. He won’t sign either. I think we are extremely skint and have to do deals in which add-ons are applied — otherwise surely these deals would go through quicker.

"Watch this space" and go "wow" ........ oh no that was last year.
This year "We got all the new signings in early so that they could gel pre season".

Having talks with Kenwright is like a one way trip to the Bermuda triangle.

We don’t do concise simple transfers — ever.

Stop whining.
We merely conduct our transfers early. Fellani and Saha were for this season, we bought them last year. We just haven’t got next season’s signings.

Patience friend.
Have you ever waited for a London bus?
Trust me.

Quite clearly he was Lescott's replacement, despite being told otherwise and, as it looks like he isn't going to City, it means Senderos isn't coming.

Arsenal are a bit short on defenders too, my best guess is that we are waiting for Arsenal to finalise a transfer of their own.

Arsenal won't let us have Senderos until after the game next Saturday. There is no way Wenger wants headlines of Senderos scores last minute winner for Everton.
We’ll get him on Sunday 16th, or maybe Wed 19th, or probably Fri 21st... after his 3 day medical.

This is what happens when your Chairman is an incompetent buffoon.
But as long as there are idiots around to defend the man, then it shall continue.
Arsenal will not sell any players for a bag of toffee mints and two tickets to see Blood Brothers at the Empire... but then again Kenwright got rid of Peter Johnson...blah blah blah

The fee is the sticking point, we're skint and offering peanuts whilst Arsenal are being greedy and want more. But it sounds about right that they want to either wait 'til they get someone in or until after their game with us.

Alec, we NEVER do a simple transfer, everyone knows that. I hope we do sign a centre half, because I bet you my bare arse in Lewis’s window that Roger departs at 5 minutes to midnight on the last day of the window. No time to secure a replacement and plenty of time for the money to disappear into that black hole in BK’s pocket, never to re-emerge!

At the risk of sounding like a negative Evertonian, I just cannot believe that with our two consecutive 5th place finishes in the Prem, we are still losing out to lesser clubs (Naughton!). It’s just so fucking annoying to be looking at this rumour mill and being linked to the same players as teams like Blackburn?!
We are far and away a bigger and better team, yet we still find ourselves losing out and battling it for signatures with the lower half of the table! After our success, surely now is the time to use our good prem consistency, great team spirit and FA cup run to attract better players to build and cement our place in the top 6, but NO! We sit and watch teams like villa and spurs strengthen!

Neil, he is shit, but I think that people are just pointing how incompetent we are in transfer dealings.

Neil Humphrey — I’m with you Bro. There is no pleasing some people. He is and always was cover for jags (who in case you have all forgotten is out for a while with a knee injury). On his day he is a good no-nonsense centre half. His problem is that he loses concentration and makes mistakes. Ala Yobo when he was younger. If he played with more consistency dont you think the price would be 2 or 3 x the reported £3m?

I have mixed feelings about our lack of signings. I do honeslty think we have a very decent team when all the players are available and fit and I would have trouble picking the starting eleven and the formation but, and it's a big BUT, we have no bench when we have injuries and then there is a lack of options to change a game when we are struggling. I don't think we need to spend bucket loads of cash; players like Arteta, Yakubu, Jags, Cahill are real quality so we just need to add to these players.
A right back for me is a must, Hibbert is the weak link in the team and Osman gets knocked off the ball far to much. I've just seen on Sky Sports that a possible replacement for Osman, Hunt is on the verge of signing for Hull, so another target goes elsewhere.
I do trust Moyes and think we are lucky to have him in charge of our great club so I'm not going to start jumping on his back. Hopefully the day I come home from work and switch on Sky Sports News and find we have spent some cash is not to far away.

I’m waiting for the "Lescott not going to City is like a new signing" to go with "the return of Yak/Arteta/Jags which are like new signings" crap to be uttered by the club. I really thought after last summer's fiascos we would learn the lessons and push on this year.

Andy - please explain how anything I posted provided evidence of my expectations? I am just as unhappy that we havent signed several players. But my point from this was totally separate - that some people are only happy when they are moaning.
John - last summer was annoying - agreed - but let's not forget that we *did* sign the Fella, who scored 9 goals and was considered to be one of the buys of the season.

At the end of the day I trust Moyes to deliver. We all know it’s so bloody frustrating supporting this team and so we should be used to summers like this.
I agree with Mike that it’s plausable that Wenger doesn’t want to let Senderos go before Saturday. It’s sensible on their part and I’d fully expect him to be in sometime next week.
I’ve just read on BBC that Moyes is getting demented trying to bring in players.I’m sure he is as he’s stated many times he only wants to bring in players that would improve the squad. However on the flip side of that I (along with the majority of you) would rather not hear all the shit about getting players in early. We are being held up as an example of a true, tradditional club. It doesn’t help then when sometimes your Manager and, more often, your Chairman are capable of frequent one liners that end up making us all abit of laughing stock.
I just live in blind hope that we have some good news over the next two weeks. I’m not blessed with too much hair anyway and this summer hasn’t helped. Come kick off I’ll be shouting my head off but someone (MOYES) give me some good news soon!!!!

Apparently Arsenal actually want some money for Senderos. That’s what I heard the hold up is.

Every club is playing it cagey this year and there will be a shoal of transfers on 31st August. With DK likely to be a goer — but with strict conditions attaching to do with funding — it figures that the later signings are made, the less strain there will be on the club’s finances.
Just have patience. Davey’s on the ball and Bill will provide. He has so far, hasn’t he!

Doddy, give it a rest will you Walter Mitty. One second you have it straight from Billy Bullshitter all is well, maybe you are the only remaining person on the planet that believes that lying toerag and Lescott is going nowhere then you put your other head on for effect saying he is going to city as per your "insider". The gullible shrine worshipper is one thing but to join in with your beloved’s bullshitting is something else.
Don’t tell us the "strict conditions" as already reported elsewhere are reduced capacity to 40k making it nigh on impossible to break even or give Everton a larger capacity than it already has? Hmmm a 50k stadium in a town fit for 40k people, fucking genius.

Richard, it just shows what a dire financial state we’re in if saving a couple of hundrend grand on wages helps the club save for DK. Will there be people outside the ground against Arsenal with buckets asking for spare change to help fund DK?

Adrian Arnold - in total agreement mate, we don’t need to do a lot with our current squad when you consider our recent continued success & our potential returns from injuries (at our level of course).
As the saying goes "In Moyes we trust".
