Elm

Comments (16)

I just watched a special about Rasmus Elm in the leading Swedish football show, Fotbollskvall (the Swedish equivalent to MOTD). Apart from showing an in-depth analysis of Elm's season to date, with some stunning goals (he's scored 9, tied second in the league... not bad for a midfielder!) and after having named him the without any doubt most influential player in the league, they also discussed his future.

Having been linked with amongst others Bayern Munich, Man City and Everton, Sweden's leading football writer, Simon Bank (Aftonbladet) was asked which club he felt was the right one for Elm. After saying that he felt Elm was good enough for most clubs in Europe he stated: "without a doubt Everton. They are the best club for Rasmus; stable, togetherness and with a great manager in Moyes, who has got a great ability to develop his players."

So what are you waiting for, David... sign Elm! As I am sure you've seen, Elm is very down to earth, equally comfortable in the middle or at the flanks; two-way with an eye for the goal. And the icing on the cake is that he is only 21 and comes with a price tag that we can afford!

We can’t sign Elm !

a. We’re skint !

b. Moyes is "demented"

"And the icing on the cake is that he is only 21 and comes with a price tag that we can afford!"

The sad thing is Bernt, is that it looks like we couldn’t afford cake icing, let alone Elm!

So the Swedish Danny Baker says he should come here... cool!

I’m being stupidly optimistic, but when the Sky money comes in (or Lescott goes) I believe he’ll sign, the players comments lead me to believe that he’s been told to wait so we can find some beans.

The fact we can’t rub enough together to buy this player really is indicative of how utterly skint Everton are. We’re not talking about "doing a Leeds" when all we need to find is something in the region of £3.5 million. It could even be seen as an investment because if he’s as good as everyone says he is, surely he could be sold at a later date for a massive profit therefore avoiding a Leeds type situation.

What is all this ’when the sky money comes in’ nonsense... surely if EFC are due to be padi 50 million from Sky they can go to the bank and borrow a little on spec!!! How can there be any belief that EFC have no money until Sky pay up?

I’m not being funny, a lot of the reports on Elm are discussing how down to earth he is and that he has the right attitude and such like.

Now he went around Goodison, what, about a month and a half ago now? and supposedly has a lot of interest in but is telling all the clubs they must wait for his decision.

That doesnt sound like someone who is down to earth to me, it sounds a lot like someone who is up their own arse.

Maybe all the "best since Ibrahimovic" talk has gone to the lads head.

Still would like him at the club! but I would like almost anyone right now and if the fuss is to be believed he sounds like a v v good player.

Davy must have his dithering fix!! It wouldn’t feel right to have everything done and dusted within 48 hrs

If Elm’s current manager is to be believed - then we haven’t actually made ’a serious bid’ for Elm...

There is no chance Elm will join Everton... Unfortunately in football these days , money talks !! And David Moyes clearly said yesterday, that we dont have the money to buy these type of players and to sustain their wage demands.. Its a pity though as he is real class !!

Seeing as Lescott has now handed in his offical transfer request (even though EFC have refused it) I think it is only a matter of time before we do have some money.

Although it will be a shame to see Lescott go, if it means we have some cash for new faces (and do we really want a player playing for us that doesn’t want to) it could be a good thing in the long run. He is a fine player but is not totally ireplacable so maybe now is the time to start "watching this space"?

Another good player who’s going to slip the net!

Nik ..any money we get from a Lescott deal will dissapear and never be seen again.
Just like the Andy Johnson money and the Mcfadden money(remember him)
This is due to the fact our chairman is a fucking useless lying prick

Andy Codling : i thought the AJ money was used to sign Fellaini.

I also agree that this’waiting for the sky money’ theory that has circulated this website recently is a load of crap. It isn’t a case where we may or may not recieve the money so wont risk spending it, that money is 100% guarenteed. Considering noone pays the full fee in transfers immediately but over a number of years in most cases, this theory just makes no sense.

As for transfers, I just can’t be bothered discussing it anymore. Elm, Cana, Defour, Moutinho et al. We have discussed each to such a degree, how they will improve our team, push us to 4th etc...Whatever happens, happens

I just cant wait for Saturday...start talking actual football

Sky Sports News are reporting negotiations to sign Gary O'Neil. Not exactly inspiring, what do the rest of the lads thinks?
