ToffeeWeb - Season 2009-10

The Mail Bag

U21

Jack Rodwell played 60 mins and James Vaughan played 90 mins. Did anyone see the game? Where our boys any good? Do they look sharp? They're going to be needed in the coming weeks I think...

Rodwell replaced in the 58th minute and Vaughan taken off (for Sturridge) in the 46th minute. Apparently there weere only 2 long range efforts in the 1st half - one by Rodwell and one by Mancienne, both easily saved by the new goalkeeping star - Krul. No mention of Vaughan’s display. Anyway, it is another good experience for both our lads - should stand them in good stead for the PL season.

Vaughan apparently had a good chance but took an extra touch and messed it up, thats the only thing i have read of either of them

However, Everton defender Shane Duffy got a goal when he coolly slotted home a penalty in the 74th minute of the 2-1 defeat to Portugal U21s.
