Thank God for the Football Season !!

It seems like an eternity since the final whistle blew at the Cup Final on 30 May... (77 days ago). Like many other Evertonians, we've been waiting for news of transfer speculation and potential investment about my beloved club... and we've waited and waited while tearing shreds off each other on why nothing has happened.

The internet is a new form of media where access to information is available 24/7, I'm sure many fans on here have had a constant stream to websites like Newsnow as well as logging on to their favourite sites instead of enjoying the summer for what it is. I'm just about worn out of it all and the season hasn't even started yet!

Whatever your opinion on who should be managing or running our club, whether you want us to lose or not... once that whistle blows at 5.30pm on Saturday we can all concentrate on what matters and that's on the pitch. Once more the fans can unite for around 90 minutes.

Let's appreciate what we do have and that's a top 5 side with a great manager and promising talent coming through the youth system. Of course the transfer window is open until 31 August so plenty of time for debate till then.

COYBs !!

"The internet is a new form of media.." (cough).

It may be new to you, John, but some of us have been using it for 15 years now, which is about the length of time ToffeeWeb has been around.

The challenge we face at the start of every season is the same: we have zero points... and the achievements of last season count for nothing, zilch, zero. It's the same for every team of course, but to stand any chance of breaking into the top four we have to win games consistently from the off, and above all, we have to win our home games at Goodison Park.

We're starting off with our three best players from defence, midfield, and attack unavailable due to injury and a squad that is lacking in depth, to put it mildly. Predictions of doom are premature but the portents are not that great.

The bar is set very high, and it will be a tremendous challenge for us to come out of the blocks with all guns blazing... under Moyes, it's just not our style. His mantra is defence, and making sure we don't lose too many games... but we always seem to lose more than we should.

We need a more winning mentality if we are to really press on: we need to win games from the off.

Mark Hughes is a disgrace the way he continually openly talks to the press about trying to sign Lescott. Any other manager with an ounce of respect or class would not discuss other teams players so publicly time and time again. It’s as if he feels they have a right to sign him, if they are that desperate for him why don’t they just offer £30 million for him so that Everton will accept the bid and get it done with so we can move on! An extra £8 million is nothing to them so why not just do the deal if they want him as much as they keep saying they do, rather than unsettling our team before the start of the season!

Michael, we only lost 9 games last season. I guess that is 9 more than we should have lost eh.

In my best homer simpson voice "hmmmm they have the internet on computers now eh?" :)

We will be doing extremely well to finish fifth again this season, infact we will have exceeded my expectations, I would have had higher expectations but for whatever reason, money or lack of, good or shite chairman and manager, disloyal players, whatever the reason we have had a summer of standing still and have even taken a giant leap back for mankind also known as Everton

Well considering the ancient Egyptians and the Romans used to sell newspapers (or equivalent) I would say the internet is a fairly new form of media.
Not sure how much media coverage Everton got back then but im sure big Dunc would been the best Gladiator they had ever seen!
