What does Hughes mean???
Comments (47)
Can only one explain this quote from Hughes on Lescott?
"We are still trying to speak to the people who will ultimately make the decision over whether or not the deal continues... Those conversations are still to take place "
I'll tell you what I think it means, they haven't got to speak to Billy Bullshit and once they do, they know he'l cream himself when he hears £20M and Lescott will be gone.
I think this could be the end of Moyes....He will walk.. And rightly so...
Sad.

The club doesn’t have many assets and whilst it's great to have players signing long-term deals, they will depreciate in value.
It's a sad state of affairs really.

He made comments last week along the lines of, "I could just phone David Moyes up and he would say no and that would be the end of it but you need to get around the table with the people who make the final decision and speak to them", and now he follows it up with this. This should have made the headlines but was simply unnoticed by most blues. Everton's Board of Directors had better back Moyes over this or I for one have bought my last season ticket.
Under no circumstances should we sell to this classless, trailer trash outfit. Personally although it would spell disaster for the club, I hope Moyes walks if this is the case.

He’s trying to actually go over the head of David Moyes and I, like every other Evertonian knows, know that if Lescott is sold against Moyes’s wishes then we’ll be missing a centre-back AND a manager!
The tactics Hughes is using are despicable beyond belief. Classless doesn’t cover it!

So David Rothaway , you think Mark Hughes has been in touch with Evertons banks and discussed our loans and payments and said to the bank, "they really need to sell Lescott to do something about these figures"??
Yeah right!!!!!!!
15 Posted 13/08/2009 at 17:06:46
Would I boo him when we play against him? Wouldn’t waste my breadth.
16 Posted 13/08/2009 at 16:59:10
Mark Hughes is so utterly out of his depth over there that it beggars belief - and this provides me with the tiny glimmer of hope that I still retain that we may, just may, be able to finish 4th or 5th again.
Untold billions, and he’s tickled around and prevaricated with offers of £15M, £18M and maybe back in with a £20-£22M ’last offer’. This for a player he is supposed to have deemed ’essential’.
If ’Honest ’Arry was in charge of City I can imagine the phone call to Moyes thus:
HR: "Awight Moysey ’ow much for Lescott"
DM: "Not for sale"
HR: "OK £25M"
DM: "Not for sale"
HR: "£30M"
DM: "How many ti.."
HR: "£35 Million and that’s me final offer"
"Throw in Jo and we’ll have a deal"
"Your a cheeky so ’n’ so Moyesy. Done. I’ll throw in Richards n’ round it up to £40M for being such a diamond"
Hughes on the other hand...if he thinks he looks canny or responsible, then he as deluded and ridiculous as he is out of his depth. Infact he looks as much of a twat as Bill Gates would if he collected McDonalds extra fries coupons and flew EasyJet.

That’s what happen’s when you mortgage all your assets & rely on money from business backers - you eventually loose control of your business & can no longer control events.
I’m going to enjoy the moment as Kenwright is caught on ’the hook’ of his own mis-management and bullshit here and can no longer square the circle. Either he somehow stops his ’hard-nosed’ business buddies getting a return (unlikely as by all accounts he’s alienated them of late) or breaks his promise to Moyes (not to force him to sell players).
Backed into a corner, he’s no doubt ’gone to ground’ as he always does when pressured.
It’s PRICLESS but will not do our team's chances or our hopes of progression any good.
WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

Where do yo get your news from Simon?
Kenwright spoke to Cook (City’s wanker of a CEO) a week ago and read the riot act, i.e. LESCOTT IS NOT FOR SALE. You may have noticed that we’ve also turned down an official written request too. Why do you think we’ve done that?
Hughes is behaving like an arrogant fuckwit. I used to respect him but he’s lost touch with the real world & any sense of decency since the Sheikh landed.
If Hughes was still at Blackburn and Alex Ferguson was publicly briefing media in the way that Hughes is over Lescott then Hughes would be apapleptic.
Hughes and City have been working on Lescott and his agent for many months. They know that Lescott wants the move and his agent definitely wants the move. It is actually starting to intrigue me as much as irritate the fuck out of me as to what lengths City, Lescott and his agent will go to in order to break a contract that has almost 4 years left to run. I’m actualy wondering if some "other action" may be planned here, not quite a strike, but something along those lines.
And meanwhile the Premier League & FA just look on and do fuck all. It’s an obscene state of affairs. Are you aware that even City fans are posting on their own fanzines and even the BBC suggesting they back off and give it up as it’s making them look what they actually are, stupidly rich arrogant tossers.

Well that’s it. I thought I’d read every preposterously paranoid made up scare story imaginable on ToffeeWeb. But I hadn’t.

25 Posted 13/08/2009 at 18:54:33
Sorry Marc, but you’re being unfair to BK. Moyes is a manager, Kenwright is a business man.
We SHOULD sell Lescott for a bid that is financially unbelievable (and actually, £22 million is).
You can’t have it every which way — you can’t have BK as buffoon, yet castigate him for being a good businessman and grasping £20+ million. The smart businessman, would accept that.
Sorry, but that's the way it is. Some people are just so anti-BK they can’t see the wood for the trees.

Moyes actually wants to Lescott to be sold.. behind his back.. over his head!
And here’s why... it’ll give him an excuse to leave after 7 years of no help from the board.. most fans will agree with him leaving and would still be thankfull for his 7 great years.. Moyes knows the Utd job is up for grabs soon and Fergusson would probably give him an assistants role or something for a year or two until he can take over.. Everton would still get 22 million.. Lescott will get his dream move to the footballing dynasty that is Manchester City.. everyone will still think Man City is a twat.. everyone will still think Mark Hughs is a Twat.. but nevertheless all the blame will fall on Kenwright.. he’ll get booted out following fan unrest.. a billionaire will come buy us.. we’ll turn into Man City.. we’ll buy Lescott back.. and Rooney... who thinks Moyes, his manager to be, is a twat!
29 Posted 13/08/2009 at 19:37:31
Our lack of defensive options mean that the time’s definitely not right for us either. Similarly, it’s not inconceivable that Everton & City they could come to a similar pre-arrangement, allowing Lescott to move next summer, when we’ll be better placed to withstand his departure. I’m not sure whether FA rules would permit it, but it would make sense, for example, for City to make a modest down-payment now (non-refundable, naturally) then have the option of completing the purchase next summer.
It seems to me that pretty much everybody would get their wishes if something along those lines were to go ahead. We wouldn’t even have to worry about Lescott’s motivation throughout the season – as well as fighting for a World Cup place, he need to maintain his standards to persuade Mark Hughes to part with the rest of the cash so he can have his bumper pay day.

Moyes has said he does NOT want to sell, Kenright has been forced to publically back him. However he’s so in hock to his ’ghost backers’ that he’s NOT in a position to guarantee this as the final say won’t be his.
He’s said and done every trick to cling onto control of this club but NOT ONLY has he mortgaged all the clubs assets he’ll shortly find out he’s effectivly mortgaged his own position/control.
I’ve NOT characterised him as a buffoon BUT he is out of his depth & the real business deceisions, like the sale of Joleon, will be taken by his backers who put up the money.
Hopefully when this happens the penny may finally drop with more on here as to the parlous state his actions have left our club in.
32 Posted 13/08/2009 at 20:08:15
Right, because Kenwright hasn’t heard the club rejecting the previous bids and hasn’t read a single newspaper that talks about an incoming bid of 20+ million. Honestly, do people not think before they post these things? You think Kenwright has no idea about these transfer negotiations? You think that once they talk to him he’ll say, "My word, I had no idea you were trying to buy Lescott, and for 20 million no less!! Well I’ll take that deal. Thank you."

36 Posted 13/08/2009 at 21:53:03
All those people who say we can replace him with a £5 million centre-half are not being real look at the pissing about with Senderos because Arsenal value him at £6 million...
West Ham are quoting £12 million for Upson and he’s not fit to lick Lescott’s boots. The other none sky 4 decent CB’s are either retired or injured. Woodgate, Laursen etc.
In fact the only decent centre half who may be available at a reasonable price is Gary Cahill at Bolton but even they have been reinforcing their squad.
I also sincerely hope we’re not in for Duff as he was not the same player after he left Chelsea.
Coming back to money and politics I cant understand why we bid £5 million for Naughton and yet cant find a bean for any other deal.
Was that another Ghost bid?
37 Posted 13/08/2009 at 22:26:32
I dont think so, but I do think Moyes has been burned by the failure of that deal, as well as watching the likes of Spurs and Sunderland busily inflating the demands of players they are after. Once upon a time, players who had something to prove but who also had undoubted ability would have been on Moyes’s radar (as Senderos appears to be). This season, however, those players (thanks to the likes of Spurs, Sunderland, City and a few others) seem less willing to take a pay cut in order to rebuild their reputations.
If we take Cana as an example, he left OM under a bit of a cloud (which is why they got Mbia in and sold him for £5 million) and yet Bruce was more than happy to pay him sixty grand a week. We cannot afford to compete with that, even for our best players (and given our + the current global financial situation, we should not try to compete with it).
Moyes’s other hunting ground for players was, of course, the lower leagues - and yet the prices there have, for this season at least, gone stupid as well. As good a player as Naughton is, its worth remembering (as has probably been pointed out already) that in 2007 we paid Sheffield Utd £4 million for their best player, one who had spent a season in the premiership and had played in total 254 games for them. We were expecting to pay more than that for someone who had played 40 games in the Championship, and indeed he (and Walker) were sold for £10 million. Delph, who has never played higher than Division 1, was sold for £8 million.
38 Posted 13/08/2009 at 22:37:32
If Moyes does have cash, even a very limited amount, then his failure to add players and recent whinging about ’not being ready for the new seaSon’ (deja vu there!) is criminally incompetent. Basically, Moyes has a lot to answer for whether he has a transfer budget or not. I despise what direction Kenwright is taking our club in and fully appreciate Moyes’ great efforts but he is not blameless. If Lescott goes, will Moyes have the principles to resign? Or will he carry on with his reputation and credibility fatally flawed?
39 Posted 13/08/2009 at 23:58:24
Divide and conquer. Learnt from Real Madrid. Moyes has learnt from Darth Ferg. He’ll have told Lescott about WC2010. If he plays there and plays well, he can go anywhere he likes, and Everton can get more than £22M. One more season out of him: that’s the formula Darth Ferg demanded from His Gelness.
My own foible about loyalty to the team was shattered by Carsley. Moyes — and everyone — wanted him to stay, but Carsley moved because of family circumstances. Not money; family circumstances. That’s loyalty. And I look forward to Everton v Birmingham City, and the reception that GP gives to the likes of Lee Carsley, whatever colour shirt he’s in.
That’s Everton.
40 Posted 14/08/2009 at 03:11:07
The one silver lining with that is; look where Newcastle are now. Let’s hope that’s Man City in a few years.

It's the Mirror, so probably false, but the naming of Pini Zahavi does make it an interesting read. The Israeli ’super’ agent is buddy buddy with a certain Sir Phillip Green — Kenwright's puppet master.
42 Posted 14/08/2009 at 08:53:53
What fucking deal? We haven't accepted a bid or the transfer request (as far as we are told) so there isn’t a deal. So how can a deal that doesn't exist 'continue'?
What a dick. And to think he once wore the Royal Blue shirt of our great club.
43 Posted 14/08/2009 at 12:21:30
Whatever you believe as regards the details, I’m absolutely convinced that City are getting at our "backers". Can you imagine what it's going to be like at Goodison when City arrive — particularly if Lescott goes. Mind you, I’m of the opinion that if Lescott goes so will Moyes.
When the hell are Scudamore and the FA going to act over City’s behaviour?
44 Posted 14/08/2009 at 13:19:13
Anyway, enough of them. I have read throughout the summer the arguement and counter-arguement about the Lescott saga and the lack of incoming names. It strikes me that Lescott would like to go, but also knows by staying he is guaranteed first choice all season and in world cup year that is crucial. He wont have that guarantee at Eastlands, because come January Hughes will either be sacked or they will bid about £400m for Terry if they arent in the top 4. He can survive on 40k a week and trust me, he wont give a fuck if a few people boo him. For this reason I believe he will stay. ( Unless they decide to throw in Jo, Petrov and Onoura or Richards ) !!! Plus he covers Baines now Nuno has gone
We would need 2 centre backs to cover losing him anyway, Jags recovery wont be until end November and Yobo going to African nations cup in January. On transfers in, I dont know who, but you would think that by saving approx 60k a week in wages of AVDM, Nuno and Castillo there is room for one big signing. I think Moyes knows that a RB is a priority so that will be one surely ?
45 Posted 14/08/2009 at 13:58:01
He will play tomorrow. I was at Malaga when people were singing his name and applauding his every touch. He looked ashamed, like he knew he was in the wrong and bowed his head. I expect him to behave similarly tomorrow. I’m not criticising the way he behaved, I think he done the right thing and as the players have said he will carry on playing for us unless he’s sold. I hope he stays, even after the request. I was told he questioned Moyes about what are plans were for the summer and said he felt City had a better chance of getting in the CL. I hope we prove him wrong.
46 Posted 14/08/2009 at 15:27:47
Nothing wrong in what he says at all....we now know he hasn’t actually talked to Moyes yet...so it’s quite possible it was him he’s refering to.
