TEAM NEWS: Everton team to face Arsenal: Howard, Hibbert, Baines, Yobo, Lescott, Jo, Cahill, Neville, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini.
Dunno what the bench is, but assume Saha on there.

Very pleased to see Lescott playing... just hope the twat element in our support can demonstrate some rare intelligence and NOT boo him.

Agreed, let's hope the fans behave themselves with regard to Joleon, he has a big part to play over the next few weeks and we need his head right.
Booing him will not help this

Interesting question: What would Lescott's reaction be if he scores?
Fran Mitchell
Posted 15/08/2009 at 14:16:09
Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Osman, Neville, Cahill, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jo.
Subs: Nash, Saha, Vaughan, Gosling, Rodwell, Duffy, Baxter.
Arsenal: Almunia Sagna, Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Fabregas, Song, Denilson, Bendtner, van Persie, Arshavin. Subs: Mannone, Eduardo, Ramsey, Silvestre, Eboue, Gibbs, Merida.
So Jo and Pienaar are fit, and Lescott does indeed start (didn't expext anything else)
This one could go either way, 2-1 to the Blues is my prediction, Fellaini and Jo to score, with Bendtner for Arsenal.

Personally Michael I don’t think you can call people "idiots" for booing Lescott. People pay well over the odds to go and watch live football and are entitled to their opinion. Lescott was cheered prior to the transfer request which is something i think Evertonians can be proud of, only to be left feeling embarrassed by Lescott two days later. I can feeling understand anyone who boos him 100%!
As far as todays game goes, i have seen enough already!
Embarrassing! remind me why our defense is worth all this money again please!
Jo is absolute garbage as well.

This is why we need new players. Don't shake your fukin head Kenwright, buy some fuckin' players. Throw the young lads on. This is embarrassing.

James the booing is affecting the entire team. Lescott is a lynchpin in our defence. Undermine him and you unsettle the others!
Mike Oates

Awful 45 mins. Well I suppose if you play Bury, Rochdale, Coventry and Blackpool its excellent preparation for the Premier League.
James Stewart

Jason if Lescott is the lynchpin then we are well and truely fucked!
Jason Broome

I bet Manchester City pull the plug on the Lescott deal. We have done nothing to take the team forward and nothing to address our injury crisis.
If you don’t strenghen in the summer this is what happens!
Kieran Kinsella
Posted 15/08/2009 at 18:23:26
Even a subbutteo figure could have scored those headers unmarked. Now might be a good time for Hughes to ext Moyes about that $22m and a cab to take Jo back to Eastlands. I still can’t believe that our only two permament summer signings weren’t even professional players. Others sign superstars and we sign two amateur players from the US. I’m still watching the space BK.

We are being totally outclassed
Osman - Dire
Screech - He wins things and then loses things
Neville - Well Hes shit full stop. Captain of our team ? OMG. Yellow card at least coming his way. The guy just dives in
We will go 442 and lose about 5 -1
Its lucky Arsenal have Tuesdays nights game on their mind

Looks to me like we are still in pre-season mode, Mike. Where was the desire, the passion, the determination?
I can only assume the Lescott saga has had a massive decimating effect on team spirit, negating at a stroke everything special about this Everton team that Moyes had painstakingly constructed...
Maybe I’ll have to start booing too...
Mark Wynne

5-1? It’s looking like 7 or 8-0 at the moment
Joey Brown
Posted 15/08/2009 at 18:26:59
I’m not saying we don’t deserve this but the ref certainly isn’t helping. Baines leans on that giant tool Bentner and he goes down like a stack of bricks and it’s called. Then a goal. It’s same old, same old... we never see the light of day from the ref. On top of that, throw on Saha and the kids and see what happens.
Mike Oates
Posted 15/08/2009 at 18:24:56
Moyes has got to bite the bullet and realise the 3 midfield triangle of Fellaini/Cahill/Neville cannot compete at the Top 4 level. Cahill has given away about 6 freekicks and they’ve scored from 2.
Jo lost his man twice and their centre halves have scored both times.
Changes that need making- Jo Off, Saha on , Hibbert off, Neville RB , Rodwell on , Cahill push up, Fellaini in middle with Rodwell and pray big time
Mark Wynne
Posted 15/08/2009 at 18:28:47
The fact that the OS broke the story about Lescott’s written transfer request suggests to me that they were sending encouraging signals to City and Hughes. I think he’ll still go and Bill decided that weeks ago. It’s a shame they have hamstrung the manager in the process.
Will Moyes walk when Lescott is sold from under him?
Joe McMahon
Posted 15/08/2009 at 18:28:58
If we are being honest is any really suprised? I was expecting this, this is why I haven’t parted with £40 & fuel & parking to be there. This is exactly the same as last season. Still as they all said " We will get players in early for the new season" WANKERS the fucking lot of them! Moyes cannot work with this budget anymore. Give me an Arab anyday!

BK probably didn’t watch the first half because he was too busy between calling his bank to see if that check from Fortress has cleared yet and continuing his 24/7 search for new talent with the money we already supposedly had last summer prior to selling Johnson/McFad to fund Fellaini.

1.Jo is only ont the payroll until June.

Just left Nevada Smith’s in NYC at half-time having been surrounded by Arsenal fans and watching the unfortunately expected unfold. Why do we always perform so badly against Arsenal? Feckin’ disgrace. The predictable crap start to the season results in us getting nowhere near Champions League spots again... Then we’ll pick up form and the excuse will be we’re doing amazingly well given our resources. Well how about some new bloody resources. How about we sign a few cheap squad players to boost morale. Takes the piss every year.

Not a surprise after all that was said during the summer. We said it would be a struggle until the 3 injured guys returned but this is awful. The pre-season preparation has done nothing and DM has persisted with players that everone but him knows are crap. The top 4 teams have players with much more skill and speed and that is borne out again today. There has been a lot of ifs, ands, but’s and maybe’s during the off season but we have not improved the team and Moyes must take the blame.Sure 50% of the transfer stories are just rumours but did we really make any real effort to sign any any class players--I think not. Shame on you Everton. The fans don’t deserve this.

Who actually thinks any players will be bought as a result of this. I doubt dumbfuck Kenwright will do anything; relegation battle here we come...

As Richard Dodd will tell us, "Tenth is superb while our magnificent Chairman seeks investment night and day and our fearless blah blah blah".
What a dreary, small minded outfit we’ve become. Thanks for that, Bill.

Kenwright will give Moyes a portion of the Lescott money ... in January to sign Dean Windass and Carlton Palmer

HAHA now thats how football should be played.
By the looks of it, since Moyes took over at Everton we have scored 17 goals against them and they have scored 43 against us and this is despite him usually putting a team out with only one up front and 5 midfielders.
Hes a tactical genius so he is...except when it comes to Arsenal.

Nice one I was wondering who’d do the Tony Cottee duties.

You have to question the wisdom of playing Lescott, although the whole side was a shower of shit.
Glynne Foster
Posted 15/08/2009 at 19:32:28
I give up for this club. An absolute disgrace todays result. All players should lose this months wages the way I see things, what are they getting paid for ? Getting beat 6-1 at home?
Jason Heng
Posted 15/08/2009 at 19:32:57
Saha is without doubt a class above Jo.
Bill has the perfect reason to sell Lescott now.

What was Marshy's prediction?

You can banter all your want, lads - i know to fuck you will all be deeply fucking ashamed to be Everton tonight. That was fucking disgusting.

I was not expecting this to be honest but yes i predicted a lose for us . Its a good smack on the head for the players as well as BK & DM. I hope they wake up before losing becomes a habit again.

Disgrace... Absolute fucking disgrace. I don’t blame Lescott, I’d want to walk from this shower. Get him off the wage bill, pay some debts and sign the bloke from 'Boro. Let's look forward to a mid-table season... whilst City, Spurs et al progress. Absolute bollocks.

Tony Marsh hasn’t a clue. Not even close in his prediction. ;-(

Disgrace. Come on Tony Marsh we might all agree with you for a change.

Even if we had sold Lescott we wouldn’t have been any worse than this!
Simon Kirwan

Fabregas.. "6-1 just one game , yano?" ( what he meant was ) "No chance we will play a game as easier as that, they where utterly shite"

Very pleased to see Lescott playing... just hope the twat element in our support can demonstrate some rare intelligence and NOT boo him.
