Saturdays disgraceful result has set us up nicely for the coming season,
In the face of adversity, David Moyes will once again rise from the ashes and, with no money, a threadbare squad, and all the disruption surrounding one of our best players, we will rise to the unbelievable heights of what? Maybe, if we are lucky, a Europa League place and a bit of a cup run and, once again, Moyes can become manager of the season.
I don't blame Davey; without him, god knows where we would be... but, for once, it would be nice to go into a season without the worries of "will he, wont he", to have money to spend, and to NOT feel like an over-achieving fat child who has done well to finish a race at Sports Day, being cheered by all the sporty kids who finished well ahead.
Never mind all the shite about being the best of the rest — I want to be THE BEST, to have the best players, the best ground... we already know we have the best supporters and possibly the best manager.
What we need is THE BEST OWNERS with money to spend and the ability to take the club forward — at least then, we may be able to compete and not have our hair ruffled like a good little boy by teams with more money or who have a chance of winning trophies every season.
So please, Mr Kenwright, just sell our club and give us a chance; the best of the rest is shite and just not good enough.

For a start, there is always the shining example presented by our friends across the park, who nearly managed to go bust over the summer. Then you have the red half of Manchester, who saw their football-based success and extremely profitable business taken over and laden with debt by other yanks. Then theres Chelsea and the "City Revolution", who, yes, are flush with cash - but who are dependent for survival solely on the whims of their owners, thanks to assembling an immense wage bill, entirely composed of mercenaries.
Or perhaps we could be like Pompey, whose fans have seen a glimmer of success, but also have witnessed various spivs come and go, milking tens of millions out of their club and who have ultimately lead it to the brink of extinction.
In fact, the only "big money" chairman I would trust to come into Everton is the chap at Villa; you at least get the impression with him that he actually knows what he is talking about business-wise and who, most importantly, understands that the current insanity in football cannot last and that it will be the well-run clubs that survive at the end of it.

I used to get angry when the RS used to sing ’shitty ground’ but now I'd be tempted to join in!!! Let's go with moving and make it as quick and painless as possible — then we can utter the word ’investment’ again.

If Kenwright isn’t going to sell up then join in with the game Moyes, sell Lescott and buy some players.

I must ask the question in response to Jonathon’s post... Who do you think is actually going to buy the club if not a money greedy oil tycoon wanting a big return on his millions.
All the clubs you mention maybe in big debt, but I’d rather be in debt with a team of capable superstars, than in debt with a reasonable first choice 11 but no strength in depth.
The only way for this club to move forward is with big investment, and I for one could not care if we get in more debt along the way, because quite frankly were pretty screwed already.

I’d rather us have a rich owner at this current time, be in some debt (which is inevitable if you have a rich owner) and challenge for honours, than living of fucking scraps and scouring the bargain basement.
At the moment, were actually in a worse state than we would be if we had a rich owner who would spend millions on a new squad, the only worse thing that could happen to us, is to get sucked into a relegation battle, or actually get relegated — and that looks on the cards especially if we can’t play with fucking dignity for 90 minutes against an average Arsenal side.
Fuck Kenwright, he hasn’t got the money to run a club, simple as, he’s full of shit, and all those who say were better of than having a sugar daddy?
Maybe 10 years ago, yes you would be totally right, but in this day and age when it costs millions of pounds to sign an average player, and the average player is on £50,000 a week, then NO your wrong, Kenwright has the funds to run a Second division club, at the best.

I keep hearing this sort of statement but there is no evidence for it at all. There have been no firm interests in Everton, and its no good blaming Kenwright because there aren’t people lining yp to buy the club.
All I ever read is unfounded speculation. If there are interested investors — name them.

I have purposely slept on this article, not wanting it to be accused of being simply a knee jerk reaction to a, let’s be frank, freak result on Saturday.
But how quickly are we going to be able to put this behind us. I am as pro-Moyes as it gets, but I cannot bear the thought of another season of what-ifs. Last season we didn’t start playing until a Fellaini-inspired (the irony of this will soon become apparent) draw at home against Manchester United kick-started us. "If only we’d started the season well" we all said. "We could have been challenging the top four. Think about all those points we dropped in August/September."
Well I for one am not having another season like that. Moyes may be great at many things, and like all managers, he has his minor faults. When you think who we could have in charge, we’re bloody lucky to have him. But his complete inability to prepare over the off-season is a disgrace.
After the cup final horror show, I don’t expect there is a single Evertonian who thinks that a right hand side of Hibbert/Osman is good enough. Yes they’re easy targets, and I know they’re home grown players who can have good patches in form, but they are NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Yet there we are, getting bullied out a deal by Spurs to sign a promising right back, who on a couple of viewings, has more technical ability and more forward ambition that Hibbert ever will. How can Moyes let Spurs, a team with the highest player turnover in the league beat us to his signature. Don’t give me the money argument either. Kyle Naughton was hardly demanding 60k a week was he.
As Lyndon mentioned in his article, I too admire Moyes for his stance on Lescott. He’s right. The way City, and in particular Mark Hughes, have conducted themselves has been disgusting. The once solace we can take is that with him in charge they wont get close to the title. But once a player hands in a written transfer request, then the effect on team spirit is devastating.
I’m pretty sure the huge elephant in the dressing room before Saturday’s game was the major factor in the defensive horror show that ensued. Lescott isn’t a Judas. It’s his job. I’ve no hard feelings towards him. Any of us would do the same for that salary increase. Thank you very much, we’ve made £15million off you, good luck. So let him go, and spend two weeks using what money we have to get a centre back (not Taylor, please!) and a right sided midfielder who has good technical ability.
I’ve tried to be diplomatic up to this point, but there is one player who makes all sense of reason disappear from my brain. How long is Moyes going to persist with Fellaini? Is it because he blew his entire transfer budget last summer on him? I’d like to know the extent of the scouting that went into this purchase. It’s an awful lot of money to spend on someone who clearly isn’t up to it.
Did Moyes simply watch ITV’s coverage of Liege’s two legs against the RS and listen to Andy Townsend singing Fellaini’s praises?? Did Moyes ring up wanting to sign Defour and get completely conned?? I want to know which scout watched Fellaini enough to warrant that fee. Because I’ve seen him in 30+ games now and I’ve not seen anything.
Admittedly, he’s scored goals, important ones too (cue the replies saying I’m contradicting myself). But in a central midfield already lacking any technique, his inability still stands out. He is painfully slow. His passes are always lacking in any weight or conviction. Unless he receives the ball on his chest he struggles to control it. Don’t even get me started on his body language. Even from the heights of the top balcony he is visibly lethargic.
I’m well aware of the argument that we should support anyone who puts on a blue shirt etc etc but I’ve had enough of this pathetic player. He does not deserve to play for our club, pure and simple.
Apologies if this article isn’t as concise as the regular contributors, and feel free to disagree with me, but I have never been so angry at the ability of one of our own players before.
