Club Shop Refit - Everton Minus 1!

Comments (8)

Not only was the football depressing on Saturday, I had the joy of going to Everton 1 for the first time and being throughly unimpressed.

Fair enough, it was matchday and it's going to be busy, but the way its been set up is useless. All the kit in the first section so that was bound to get overcrowded, and it did get very busy, with one changing room in the whole place!

Add to that the fact that they didn't have Medium or Large in any of the Polo's or retro jackets! Come on Everton and Kitbag, this is the first game of the season and it's a near sell-out. If ever stuff is going to move, it was going to be Saturday.

I spoke to one of the girls in there asking for sizes and she said "yeah loads have been asking for them". This deal with Kitbag was supposed to be great for the club, but please Wake Up, whoever is running this place! How can you be out of medium and larges (along with XL, the most popular for the fans) for these popular items on the first day of the season?!?

It's another example of how we don't make the most out of what we have. On the good side it was good to see some of the Everton collection in there, but I just thought it wasn't great and also lots of wasted space by the tills and exit etc.

To play a bit of the devil’s advocate, I haven’t been to Everton 1 yet, but a couple of weeks ago, during a trip home, I went to Everton 2 in town and I was very impressed to see it bunged full. The service was quality, and like all good shops I went in and spent much more than I had planned!

On another note, both kits have really grown on me — especially the away kit. We now just need a decent team to wear the bloody thing!!!

Does anyone know if is it only through Everton/Kitbag websites or the Official shops where you can buy the shirts? I live in Milton Keynes but want to look at the shirts before I choose which one, so do Everton sell shirts in other sports shops?

Admittedly I went in there a little earlier on Saturday, but I thought the new layout/checkout style meant a lot more people getting served quicker (I’ve given up queueing in there loads of times before) and I was also quite impressed with the range of merchandise.

The only slightly minus point was our beloved CEO Robert Elstone lurking at the back of the shop with a lad running backwards and forwards stacking gear up in his arms, with which he then sneaked out of a side-door. My immediate thoughts were "Can’t you do that sort of thing on a non-matchday?" and "Shouldn’t you be busy elsewhere in your 24/7 search for players/investment/pennies down the back of the sofa for Desperation Kirkby??"

(Oh, and the home kit didn’t look as bad as I had expected on the players, but the away kit is still an absolute abomination!)

Andrew, I am in Milton Keynes also and I believe the only place that ever stocked our kits was JJB. Although I'm not sure if they still do!

I have seen the odd top in Sport and Soccer in the past also, but not sure if they have any in now as I am abroad at the min.

Was in both Everton One and Everton Two on Friday night and on Saturday and had exact same problem, no medium or large blue shorts in stock, and no medium or large jackets either. Unforgiveable for the first weekend of the season with a new kit / partner. Credit to the marketing people though for the whole Everton 2 Liverpool 1 address.... class !!

I didn’t have time to see the new Everton 1 store, but as others have mentioned - the Everton 2 store in town was very impressive. I’m well chuffed with my line-up jacket (there were tons of everything around Sat midday in all sizes fom what I could see).

Everton 2 is excellent — and clearly the stuff has been selling fast, which has to be an encouragement.

Like Alex, to play Devil’s Advocate, perhaps everyone has already bought their shirts/tops before the first game of the season and that is why the sizes were limited.

There has already been an article confirming that the sales of the new shirt were up on last year, so I would suggest there is the answer why the numbers were low.
