Éver increasing rumours

Comments (31)

So we've allegedly struck a loan deal with Éver Banega? Well aside form the inevitable work permit saga, I hope we get him simply to bolster the squad. I have doubts though that the Rocastle-turn-flop-to-the-floor (move of choice on the YouTube footage) will go down well in the Premier League. Perhaps he can play out on the right? But do we need another central midfielder who's played out of position?

Then we have the poor man's Beckham, Bentley. Lacks pace and matches the flair the flair he has on the pitch off the pitch — if he arrives, let's hope he isn't another Simon Davies.

Taylor... Moyes-style player, and could be a good signing, but there are other clubs sniffing about so need to get shit together, which of course could mean it's going nowhere — unless a certain Mr Lescott is.

Huth... well at least it rhymes with our style of play at times. No, that's harsh...

Really the point of this was mainly to hear what people think of Banega, as I've never heard of him before or seen him play other than pirouetting and still pictures to a samba beat.

Another 48 hours... What the hell is going on!! DM is now spinning tails better than Billy Bullshit. By the Way where is the Fuckin Fraud.

Let's get real, we should have forced the LEscott Transfer 3 weeks ago. £26m cash plus they pay Wolves and we can by Jo for £2m. Do it in 7 days or Fuck off. But no we do it the Everton Way.

This Club is a fuckin Shambles and its all down to Bullshit Billy. Don't blame Johnson or Smith, where the fuck has the money gone, someone is taking a huge payoff from the club. FFS LETS JUST DO IT AND MOVE ON.

If Sky Sports are to be believed aparantly we have agreed a loan deal with Valencia for midefielder Ever Banega, however it looks unlikely it will go through as he doesn't meet the criteria for a work permit!

Didn't we have the same thing last season with Victor Obinna from Inter Milan?!

Surely when enquiring about the availability of these types of players, the first question Everton should be asking is whether or not the player would qualify for a work permit? And if he doesn't, why waste our time when we are desperate for signings!

Apparently Lescott isn’t training with the first team today so presumably is off to City, maybe Dunne or another coming our way.

Not sure we will get a Work Permit for Banega, didn’t we have this problem last year with Obinna?

Bentley could be a good signing I know he hasn’t got the pace we need out wide be he certainly can deliver a ball and scores quite a few goals from midfield.

What a stupid, pointless, post.

There is a wealth of irony when the title of a thread is ‘Ever Increasing Rumours’ isn’t there.

You spend 80% of the article criticising the rumoured targets only to conclude by inviting an extension to the conversation which you initially label ever increasing.

More thought required before submissions please (I await your come back on that comment).

Perhaps it's a ploy by our ’Evil Boardroom’ and ’lackluster’ manager that they are trying appease the fans with the potential of signing an Argentine player but they can then use the excuse for not getting him because of a work permit, dam their souls ;)

Huth might a temporary replacement for Lescott and Baines, big strong efficient German who can stand his ground and can hoof it with the best of them.

Not normally one for going much on YouTube videos, but this guy clearly has bags of skill, I’d be willing to be that you could give most of our guys a day with a movie camera, practising and they still couldn’t pull of some of these moves.

Of course there are issues with settling in to the Premier League, language difficulties etc, etc, but on a loan surely we can’t go wrong, all seems a little too good to be true, oh yes thats right the work permit, you have to be a wealthy club to get those don’t you?

Taylor would be good IMO, but we need to get the deal done before the vultures circle; mixed reports on Elm today, personally I like the look of him although it is concerning he is taking this long to decide.

Huth, please god no.

As far as I’m concerned, we’ll never get permission to sign him so why bother, we are Everton (you know, that little club who don't carry any real influence), the Home Office wont set precedent and change rules so why bother.

I am quite happy if Bently and Hutton come on board, I actually brought them up as options a couple of weeks ago in the pub but got laughed at... as I probably will here.

I think Elm will go somewhere else, personally I think he is a bit scared of Premier League and would rather be a bigger fish in a small pond that is the German or Dutch league.

And I’m getting that pissed off that I am actually starting to warm to Richard Dunne coming back, at least he seems to care about who he plays for!

I see people are all cooing about that you tube footage on the OS - the step over followed by the inevitable tackle leaving him on the deck. If this is all he does then he’ll get murder in the Prem... and it’s no wonder that such a talent is no required in Spain.

We need a creative passer not a fancy dan greedy git... However, I’ll reserve judgement — well at least until the work permit gets the Obina treatment...

The work permit application looks dead in the water, as he has not played enough games for Argentina. Also, have they looked into why he left Valencia for Atletico Madrid?? Official thread is that it was a off-the-field activity!!!
Alan Clarke
10   Posted 19/08/2009 at 15:13:58

Perhaps, Norman, he takes part in the same activity that Hibbert and Osman caught Moyes doing.

Yes Suzy, that’s why the post is titled "Éver increasing rumours", because of the rumblings around Éver Banega.

I was hoping people might have seen him actually play other than YouTube footage given that whilst we have supposedly agreed a loan, we’re going to expend a fair bit of energy trying to get a work permit through before the transfer window shuts... energy that might be better used on somebody else - perhaps.

Maybe I should have stopped rather than mentioning the others.

Maybe I could have structured my post a little better.

Or perhaps I should take a leaf out of your book and simply make vague predictions - or perhaps your just still a little upset that I pointed that out after you droned on about educating the rest of us mere mortals who can’t see into the future? I’m sure you’ll let me know.

Chad - I have seen him play a fair bit but mostly for Boca. I saw him around 10 times in spain though too.

To be honest i would be very very surprised if this comes off and we are not pipped to the post by someone! He was seen as a Wonderkid at Boca and like so many from South America his big money move to Europe was too soon in my opinion.

He is a very skilled player who actually plays DM but I doubt he will play that at Everton. He would be an excellent box-to-box midfielder and is very similar to Moutinho. He is not a wide player though! But still a class act. I’d love to see him here but don’t get your hopes up, it would be a big capture!

Well, Banega has been named in Valencia’s squad for their Europa League game on Thursday also which is not ideal. Along with the work permit, I’m far from convinced this will go through.

Don’t get too worked up over the tea lady, Chad. She’ll be on here tomorrow claiming she got the Lescott transfer right even though she said last week he might not go until the next transfer window.
Jack Henderson
15   Posted 19/08/2009 at 16:24:24

I have full confidence we will get this lad, the work permit will be turned down first (as he hasn’t got enough caps for his country) but will be granted on appeal (as with players like Denilson, Anderson, Lucas and even Juninho and Emerson at Middlesbourough). People keep comparing this to Obinna last year, but the major difference is that we left it until a couple of days before the window shut last year and therefore didn’t have time for an appeal.

As to how good he is, personally I’m excited. Sure he has had problems and hasn’t settled in Spain as he would have hoped, but to have £15 million spent on you (by a club in severe financial crisis) you must have some talent. Also to have even two full caps to your name by the age of 21 for a top international side containing centre mids such as Mascherano, Cambiasso and Gago shows you’re no donkey. Good signing by Moyes on loan if he can get him playing again, what’s to lose?

Can some one let me know why some clubs can buy 15- and 16- year-olds from South America and are able to get work permits?

Or do they only need work permits if they are moving on a loan basis?

I just dont understand how the whole thing works.
Gordon Blair
17   Posted 19/08/2009 at 17:08:49

Apparently there is extensive footage of this lad available on South American Networking sites, but you might not want your kids to see it...

.. he was ’doing a Grantham’ ;-)

Still, if he can play, I don’t care if he brings out videos.

Stephen: Many Brazilians and Argentineans are from families with Portuguese/Spanish/Italian heritage and they therefore can qualify for passports/citizenship/nationality from those European countries and thus, under EU law, are entitled to work in any EU Country. Those who need to apply for work permits are those who do not qualify for European nationality.

Jack Henderson,

100% correct. You only have to look at the politics of this country in terms of immigration to see that if 500,000 people are comming inti this country at the moment year on year and getting jobs like Spar, Markets and the like then since our country is nigh on bankrupt then it makes real sense that the gorvernment would only be to pleased to have a footballer play in this country to be contributing to the tax system.

I’ve seen the YouTube clips and therefore have to ask what do Evertonians want?

Do they want hoofball that on this site bring many complaints (like myself) or do they want fantastic entertaining football that this guy represents.

I’m gonna go for this guy because he seems like he enjoys his gift.

Imagine this lad around the opponents box then you have to be looking at free-kicks, bookings and sending offs. WHAT A FOOKING WEAPON!!"

This guy will be an Evertonian very soon and JL will be the wind that blows the sand on a Birkdale beach.

Alan, Patience, Patience, Patience... It will defo happen 100% guaranteed — just like I have always said.

I must congratulate you on making a correct comment. I did SUGGEST that, in my opinion, it will happen at Christmas and still stand by this (I have not seen anything to suggest otherwise). If he does leave in the next two weeks, my statement will be 100% true but my prediction not quite perfect. All we will need to do then is slowly start removing the chip off your shoulder.

What you need to start getting your head around Alan is the politics involved in this whole event — think about it — it is very easy to see what is happening. This is a much bigger event that J-Lo leaving EFC. Put the pieces together my friend then you can come on here and 100% guarantee some news of your own.

Chad, Perhaps, in hindsight, I was a little harsh — my apologies. I must say though that I really do not think any of my comments have been vague. I do not know anything about this guy, nor do I know anything about non UK transfer discussions. I hope it will come off though. I know I trust Moyes more than I do YouTube. Sorry again my mate.

Suzy, Seems we are the only ones left.

Not sure what you’re on about in terms of Alan an Chad. But hey what the hell, it’s not about JL leaving that annoys me, it’s about the way it has affected our team.
Alan Clarke
22   Posted 19/08/2009 at 21:05:28

Chip off my shoulder?!!

I assume Suzy, you’re talking about good old Kirkby with reference to your "politics". Moyes knows he won’t see the money if Lescott goes because it will be put in the Kirkby pot so he doesn’t want to lose him.

So it all depends on which camp you’re sat in then. Do you believe Moyes or Suzy?

Where does it leave Dodd’s prediction then from his ’source’ that Moyes will see all the Lescott money to spend?

It's been done before with Michael Owen and others, so could this potential Banega signing be just a ruse to placate the disgruntled masses of Goodison prior to their next match tomorrow and cause excitement?

There's a dull centre back surely coming our way, but with the possibility of the work permit rejection hIgh for the youngster, at least like last season with the Inter winger, those in charge can say it was all down to red tape and out of their hands.

Either way, the Argy looks like he rolls around too much, but quite skillful for a big girl's blouse.

Valencia gaffer doesn't seem keen to allow Banega leave - crap translation but you get the point:

Market: Emery confirms the continuity of Banega The Everton has insisted to be done with the services of the Argentine Éver Banega remains with us". These words correspond the coach of the Valencia Unai Emery, who left very clear that wants to include the Argentine midfield player for the next season after to have earned the position during the pre-season.

"It has done a good pre-season and is patrimony of the Valencia. To day of today, he remains with us. I hope many teams they think in it, that is good", declared Emery, in reference to the insistence of the Everton to put on file to Banega.

"The Valencia has done a great effort in maintaining an important staff. The ones that are are good footballers that have deserved to be in the Valencia", concluded.

Would be fucking great to get him as hes got potential and I think Moyes could turn him into something abit special - I just know its not going to happen! Fucking shite supporting EFC sometimes.

No offence taken Suzy. I may have missed your initial prediction, but certainly I did see when you were saying that Lescott would "not always be an Everton player". Anyway, let’s not dwell on bygones. Apology accepted though Suzy, mate.

Thanks to those who came back with more info on th lad... anyway, anyone seen this yet?

I know it's just another rumour but I need cheering up so I'm pretending it's going to happen. Vladimir Bystrov could be just the kind of player we need down our right-hand side. The guy has electric pace and knows how to stick it in the onion bag. I've been crying out for a Kancheskis Mk II for years, this could be our man.

Wikipedia very interestingly states that his favourite crisps are Beef Space Raiders. If I remember correctly, Space Raiders are just 10p a pack so the guy clearly has inexpensive taste and would therefore settle for the pittance our wage structure allows us to offer him!

How the hell do we expect to sign Barnega when he doesn't have the requisite criteria used by the Home Office to approve signings from outside the EU; the same criteria which scuppered the deal for Obinna(?) last year. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt it. If this is Blue Bill's best effort at funding team building Gawd help us.

I have watched Banega on you tube, (www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNqr-cnU27k), and, although I understand it is edited, he looks an exciting prospect. 21 years old and an Argentine international.

He tackles back well. Has vision. Technically gifted. Uses both feet equally well. Does not go down easily. When he is fouled and hits the deck, gets right back up, no rolling around and feigning injury. I would say a typical Moyse signing.

"One swallow does not make it summer", however, on the basis of the display on you tube, a better proposition than the likes of Barton, M'Bia, Cattermole or even Rasmus (who seems to be holding out for a better offer), all of which we have been linked with. Best of all, he is free, at least for the first year.

Now, if we can just get him a permit!!

Strange sounding bark and completely the wrong tree.

I see from Uefa.com that Banega was in the starting 11 for Valencia's Europa cup match against Stabaek.

Is there no need to read anything into this and assume that the loan deal is off?

Philip Bell

If Everton have agreed a loan deal with Valencia for the Argentinean Ever Banega, why did he play for the Spanish outfit in their Europa League tie last night? This means he can't play for us in the group stage!
