As we can all accept that were currently very weak down the right, new arrival's not seeming to be any closer and Lescott's pouting, I was wondering what people's thoughts are on this short-term tactical fix for tomorrow's game?

I would line the team up as thus (4-4-1-1): Howard; Hibbert, Yobo, Rodwell, Baines; Gosling, Osman, Neville Pienaar; Cahill/Fellaini, Saha/Jo. My reasoning being Lescott's negative influence, Gosling's energy to help out Hibbo, and Osman can get on the ball and be involved.

Mercy me... 13 players and no subs?!? What sort of a line-up is that???

It's obvious Lescott will not play, as long as whoever he puts out, gives a performance worthy of the shirt!!!

Rodwell at centre half! Dear god no... it’s obvious from pre-season he’s no defender!

And Neville still in midfield... with Osman!

Please save us!

I knew David Moyes read this site. Barry, come on admit who you really are.

Only David Moyes would still pick Hibbert and Osman!

I can see us struggling tommorow and maybe winning 2-1.

I think Neville will play at centre back and Rodwell will come in to midfield. I hope we go with two upfront as Saha has been looking sharp and hope to get a look at Vaughan at some point.

Once again its the same people coming on here and denigrating the efforts of others without showing their own hand. If Barry has got it so wrong why don’t you tell him your 11. And Michael, the punctuation made it quite clear that there was a choice of front pairings.

OK, so here’s my 11 (when ripping into it please consider the alternatives)

Howard
Hibbert Yobo Neville Baines
Gosling Rodwell Fellaini Pienaar
Cahill
Saha

Subs: Jo, Wallace, Osman, Baxter, Nash.

Hibbo is in because without Lescott we will need the experience of Neville at centre-half, as he played against Malaga (and handled it well I thought). I really like Leon Osman and I think that people on here have been unkind to a player who has trained too infrequently due to ongoing problems with his knees and is therefore not up to full speed. If the manager picks him he has to play, and he does work hard for the shirt.

Who do you beg to save us? Who else is there? Precisely.

Howard
Neville Yobo Baines
Gosling Rodwell Osman Pieenar
Cahill
Saha

Dunno who I would put at CB but id rather have nobody than Hibbert.

Moyes’s likely team:

Howard
Hibbert, Neville, Yobo, Baines
Osman, Cahill, Rodwell, Pienaar,
Fellaini
Jo.

I should imagine it will be a case of "you owe us a performance", "go and make up for Saturday" blah blah. Same shit, different day!

Highly risky, and will never ever happen but with Lescott gone, it would be interested to see a line up like this:

Howard
Neville Yobo Baines
Gosling Cahill Rodwell Pienaar
Fellaini Jo
Saha

Only because we’ll have no defence available, would be our most attacking line-up... but could be suicide.

Well, now Lescott has gone into sulk mode to get a move, I’d go with the following for tomorrow night
Howard
Gosling Neville Yobo Baines
Rodwell
Fellaini Pienaar
Cahill
Saha Jo

Bit gung ho but if we go out, is it the end of the world??

I will never understand why people keep putting Osman in the Everton line-up? Yes we all have our favourites but Ossie has long proven to be ineffectual against most top teams. Yes, he scores the occasional pretty goal but would not have even made the reserves back in the mid-eighties era when we had real class in midfield.

As long as he plays, we will not rise above average. We also cannot have 2 fullbacks who have no heading ability as this is a weakness that other coaches will exploit.

Any 11 as long as we leave that useless Fellaini out, and Hibbert, but we have not got the squad to do that.

Slightly off topic a touch, but this season is my first as a season ticket holder, I’ve paid for my Sigma ticket and was wondering if I will use my season card as normal on the turnstiles or will I be sent an additional ticket through the post?!?

Andrew, your season card will work as normal as if it were a league match.

4-5-1 as per usual:
Howard
Hibbert Neville Yobo Baines
Osman Rodwell Cahill Fellaini Pienaar
Jo

Subs: Saha, Gosling,Vaughan,Baxter,Nash

I am expecting a game similar to Kharkiv 2 years ago. We will be on top be leading one-nil and concede a sloppy goal, leading to the inevitable knife-edge 2nd leg. This summer has knocked any optimism I had left.

Daniel, the rules for this silly little game are quite simple: if you are going to name your team then you name 11 starting players (no cop-out by including alternates because you can’t decide...) AND you include a FULL BENCH of Subs. For youse lot what can’t count, that’s now SEVEN — not five or four or three.

I would like to see:

Howard
Neville Duffy Yobo Baines
Osman Rodwell Cahill Pienaar
Saha Jo
Subs: Nash, Hibbert, Mustafi, Gosling, Fellaini, Baxter, Vaughan

But I think John Martin has got it spot on.

Michael - I apologise for not having been appraised of the rules to this "silly little game" being played out on your website. I refer you to my post where no alternates are listed. I add two more subs to arrive at full quota (though they will have no chance of seeing any action unless someone is decapitated) in the form of Shane Duffy and Kieran Agard.

Now what does YOUR team look like, you pedantic beggar?
