Vladimir Bystrov

This rumour appears to have more to it than most, and with the work permit application for Banega it appears the telephones in the personel department have finally been fixed.

So this guy is a right winger? Good... One of the quickest players in Europe; very good. Can he cross? I have no idea, I just hope he aint the Russian Dennis Rommedahl (He made Hibbo look like Garrincha).

At £8million it sounds a decent bet, maybe he's the new Kanchelskis (OK, slighty optimistic). Anyone know more about him? I don't mean You Tube, it means nothing, it doesn't show clips of players needlessly giving the ball away, crossing into the stands, falling over, or running bown blind alleys. (Check out the YouTube video of Dennis Rommedahl and you get my point.)

Ideally he will be great (stating the obvious like) and will allow us to play counter-attacking football and not use the hoof-ball tactics so often. A midfield of Banega (if he gets a work permit), Fellaini and Arteta with wingers of Pienaar and Bystrov actually sounds promising. Especially with Rodwell, Gosling, Osman (a good squad player, especially when played in the middle), Cahill and Baxter (who I feel should get some oppotunities) as squad players.

Or it could be shit. COYB

The thing is, Fran, we are desperately in need of reinforcements. Does it look like they are on their way?

If it goes well tonight things will be easier on Sunday - but vice versa also applies. COYB!

Never heard of him. but the fact you state Fellaini as a starter ahead of Cahill is worrying i hope Moyes doesnt share that opinion!

James Stewart : In the long run I do think Fellaini should be ahead of Cahill.

I hold Fellaini in high regard. Yes the Jury is still out on him as to whether he is worth 15mil, but thats expected. He’s 21, Had to adapt to a new, much more demanding league and has alot of pressure on him.

In the long run Everton want a midfield that can play passes between them, hold possession and set up attacks. I think Fellaini has this capability, Cahill does not.

Cahill is more of a striker than a midfielder.

Cahill does not impose himself when in the middle. He lacks the strengh and technique to hold on to the ball against top premiership midifelds.

For all the stick Ossie got agaist Arsenal Cahill didnt recieve any, yet Cahill was woeful and played in the MOST important part of the field, the part where we lost the game. Yes Cahill was playing out of his best position, but so was Ossie.

Cahill has played in that position before, and has failed to improve.

On top of that Cahill is injury prone, thus i’d rather him play as a forward for 25-30 games a season (inc europe) and stay fit, score 10-12 goals and offer an alternative in games that dont go to plan, hence having a squad.

FM rating system.

A fast winger coming to Everton? There is a God after all!

Well he is definately moving, his profile was removed from the Spartak Moscow site days ago.

Just hope it's us that gets him.

I’m not going to insult you Fran.

I’m just going to shake my head sadly.

I've heard he’s at the game tonight and could even be signed in time to be in the squad to face Burnley?! Let's hope its true and not another load of bullshit. Bystrov is quick and skill full, score’s goals and CAN cross a ball, and hopefully we can sign Banega too, he’s absolute quality!

And SSN sources claim were in talks to sign Taylor from Newcastle tonight so hopefully we can get him on board and get silly Lescott out of the club. To be honest he must be going anyway or how else are we going to afford Bystrov and Taylor put together, neither are going to come cheap I would of thought?!

I’ve been investigating this rumour and the trails all lead me to the Daily Mail or the Russian press as the origin. I investigated the Russian press and found one source quoting another and another which lead back to the first one to quote it which quoted itas being a rumour started in the Daily Mail. Basically my point is that this is a one source rumour from a rag with a poor record for coming up with accurate stories. I think it’s made up.

Even You Tube makes him look rubbish. The lad looks like a crap version of Stewart Downing and at 25 is not going to get much better.

If we are going to treat ourselves to a winger why not rush the full 10 yards! Sessegnon might cost a bit but at least he’s not a faster version of Osman!

Not remotely interested in this one. He will have to do a lot to impress me.

I actually am interested in this player as any right winger (a poor man’s Downing or not) is better than Osman.

Unfortunately all I find is lies, lies and damn lies about this rumour.

All links point back to the Daily Mail as said by a previous poster and Brystov’s profile has not been removed from the Spartak Moscow site. It is still visible at this link at Squad Number 23: http://eng.spartak.com/usr/club/players.asp?mid=1539

Despite this I live in hope as I would love to see a fast winger on the right and Pienaar on the left ... if only.

I’m sorry Fran but Cahill is one of the best Everton players i have ever seen and has scored countless priceless goals which no one else could have in the current squad.

I felt genuine joy when he hammered in that overhead kick against Chelsea and even when he scored two against Italy in the World Cup.

To suggest Fellaini is a better prospect is lunacy in my opinion. Cahill has scored again & again against the best on many an occasion. Ask any other fans which player they would take from Everton if they could and I bet they say Cahill or Arteta everytime.

You want to know more about this player Fran? Well I can tell you that his favourite crisps are Beef Space Raiders! It says so on Wikipedia (I kid you not) so it must be true!

You may think this is irrelevant. However, I believe that Space Raiders retail at just 10p a pack. This could be quite significant. It would suggest that he has fairly cheap taste and therefore is more likely to be content with the low wages on offer at Everton.

If he was more of a Pringles kind of guy, he’d be holding out for a move to City for sure!

Good on Wikipedia for providing this priceless information. You just don’t get these kind of statistics on Football Manager!

Today the Russian press have the story but are saying that their source is the Echo whose story is written by "staff writer". Of more interest is the fact that they refer to his club as Spartacus instead of Spartak which is kind of cool and also I noticed they’ve just signed RS reject Mark Gonzalez but as far as Bystrov goes Spartacus have denied anything is happenig.

I watched Ever Banega play in central defensive midfield for Valencia last night, and I was quite impressed. If Everton get him in on loan, that’ll will fill me with expectations. He looked very comfortable in there, soaked up pressure and distributed well. Valencia won 3-0 in their first leg tie against Norwegian Stabæk, and could’ve scored more. Banega played the whole 90 minutes ... It all depends on a work permit; if that goes through, he’s an Everton-player, right?

A cup-tied Everton player? How come Valencia played a player in a competition where we’ll need him, who should be moving to us today? That doesn’t make sense. I’ll be really surprised if we sign this Banega fella.

Did you ever think Banega would sign? It’s just like the seasons where we bid for Michael Owen, Dirk Kuyt, and Lucho Gonzalez. They’re doing this so it looks as though we're trying to get the right players, and make Blue Bill look like he’s giving us the funds.

Wasn’t Banega’s work permit hearing this morning? Does anyone know anything about it?
