Now that there is a reasonable chance that we will be playing in the group stage, my thoughts have turned to actually getting a ticket from the club for one of the away games.

Apparently there is a points system in place to decide eligibility for tickets but I cannot find the rules anywhere on the Official Site. It does says that you need 4 points to get a ticket for the Sigma away game but the only mention of how to get points that I have found is that season ticket holders start with 1 point.

I have heard that extra points are based on away games attended last season but I cannot see where this is written. Also I have seen it mentioned that you get a point just for applying for a ticket so I applied for a Sigma ticket and hoped I didn't get one!

I think I may be carrying forward 3 points into the group stage but does anyone out there know how this is all working?

My understanding is that it works like this:

At the start of the 2008-09 the scheme was launched. At which point people were allocated on the following basis: (period refers to the last 2 seasons ie, 2006-07 and 2007-08):

• Fans who attended 20+ away games over that period will start with 3 points
• Fans who attended 10 - 19 away games receive 2 points
• Fans who attended 1 - 9 away games receive 1 point

In addition, 2008-09 Season Ticket Holders with no away sales history start with 1 point.

See here http://www.evertonfc.com/travel-club.html

In addition if you were a season ticket holder who joined this season you would start with 1 point.

The only European away game last season was Liege, which you would get 1 point for. Hence at the start of this season the most points you could have accumulated was 4, from having the 20+ away credits and going to Liege. The additional point at the start of the season appears to just mean that when a season ticket holder applies they start with 1 point rather than none (I’m guessing non-season ticket holders may want to join).

This is why all the people with 4 points who applied were put in to a draw. If you applied and were not actually eligible to go in to the ballot I do not know if it will count as a credit or not, it does not seem to mention anywhere.

I don’t think that any points were allocated based on the 2007-08 European away games.

Therefore, at the moment the most points you could have would be 5.

Probably not written very clearly but hopefully that helps – I think it is correct but no guarantees...

By 5 points I meant including the game next week in the Czech Republic, i.e. going in to the group stages.

Anthony

Many thanks, that was all very helpful, especially the link you provided.

Unfortunately, I now think that I’m only carrying forward 1 point i.e. as a season ticket holder. The fact that I’ve been to a few away matches (less than 10) seems to give me no extra rights nor does applying for a Sigma away ticket as I wasn’t eligible in the first place.

Looks like breaking into the select band of Blues who get these tickets is as far away as ever. We’ll just have to do another DIY trip like we did to Brann Bergen in 2008 when we all ended up in different home sections by buying tickets from many different sources on the day.

Thanks again.

Just seen an advert on FIVE, advertising ours and Villa Europa League 2nd legs. Starts at 16.55 and think from order the matches were listed we are on first, presumably a 17:00 kick off then.

Begs the question, why the hell wasn't the first leg on tv?

Perhaps because they wanted to: a) get the highest possible crowd, and it being on TV would perhaps encourage people to stay home; and b) sell it on Everton TV only, where they also make money.

For away leg, there’s only 500 fans got tickets, so makes sense to show on TV — worth more to the club in money terms I suppose.
