No Go for Lescott!

Comments (19)

Mark Hughes has reportedly called time on the Lescott deal. What does that mean for one Joleon Lescott? The man has proved himself to be an absolute arse in the past week; however, I think our boys are a forgiving bunch and will support him no matter what.

Now maybe we can start our season without any more drama.

Just heard on Sky that Rio Ferdinand is out for a month, Vidic is injured. I have been thinking for a while wouldn't it be great to let Lescott go to Man Utd? Not that I want to lose him but if he is going it would be a way of sticking two fingers up to Citeh and the way they have handled this whole affair.

I think Lescott would jump at the chance he's a quality player and would fit in well and further enhance his England chances. United might need some help to stop Liverpool gatecrashing the party so come on Moysey if he's going to go get on to your red nosed pal and strike a deal. We may even come out with a player or two in exchange.

Hughes still wants him! And I hope he gets him!

Lescott is old news now, no way back!!! I no longer think of him as an Everton player!

Anyone know what is happening with Banega? Has he got the permit????

I’d be willing to put a large amount of money on Banega not getting a permit. He doesn’t even come close to fulfilling the criteria.

Utd won't offer anything close to what City did. They and Hughes in particular have done what they set out to do and that's disrupt Everton FC.

Mark Hughes = Complete WANKER. The day he gets the sack will be a day that will live in infamy as every Evertonian worldwide will be going..... PMSL!

Geoff. We all know that Banega wo'nt come close to getting a work permit. The whole point of the hearing is it goes to appeal. If Everton can prove his credentials then there is scope for him being awarded one. The fact he is nowhere near will not come into it. I imagine his age and the fact that he plays for Argentina, to such a high standard, may swing it in our favour.

If we can prove that a player of 21, who has represented Argentina at all levels up to full international, is as good a player as one from the EU, we have a chance of getting him a permit. I feel the advantage here is nationlity. Unlike Obinna, he plays for one of the foremost footballing nations in the world. It is therefore concieveable that he is a good player, even if he hasn't made the breakthrough to regular internationals.

Is there any news on our signings that were supposedly looking to be completed as Moyes stated last friday in 48 hrs??

Jason - This isn’t aimed at you and is just a general comment. I’m AMAZED at how everyone is taken in and jumps to conclusions every time there is a comment on this.

IT’S BUSINESS, IT’S A NEGOTIATION & when two sides WANT a deal BUT are far apart in valuation it takes time & MIND GAMES from BOTH SIDES.

City are just making their final manouvers in order to get a cheaper deal. Why do you think they’ve been spinning that a new bid is coming & floating the posibility of a cash plus player deal. None emerged & now they are feining dis-interest.

I do this day in, day out and find the current situation fascinating. I called, how this would go earlier in the summer & so far have been ’spot on’.

He’ll be gone... it’s just a matter of whether we can get a good price before Billyboy or his ’ghost backer’ take what they can.The fact that MOST Evertonians now think he should go strenghten’s City’s hand considerably, so they’re just chancing their arm.

Kunal, if you re-watch the interview he actually says that "hopefully" we will get them in 48 hours, we "hope" to do it.

It’s better watching the actual interview than reading the edited version from the papers/tinternet and usuing the false info against someone.

Let's be honest its going to be Wednesday before the slight rumblings start that we may actually sign a player or two... Thursday when all the papers and websites state were close to a deal... Friday when the BBC reports that Riquelmme has been spotted at John Lennon airport... Then at the last minite completley out of the blue the OS will drip feed the latest signings.

Same shit... Different year!

Hughes clarified his comment by saying that if a target was unattainable, they would move on. He stressed they are not at that stage yet with Lescott, but if it reaches that stage he will move on.

Media twisting words, for a change.

Sorry for the off topic post but is anyone else having a problem with the Fan Articles? As the new ones have disappeared, in fact the oldest one is the end of June.

Right first the bad news. Benega will not play in Europe for us. He’s now cup-tied... (Shite!) Next is the fact that everyone seems to be worried about the permit. Stop worrying.

In this country, each year for the last five to ten years, over 300,000 people have immigrated into our land. Do you think all these people have got well payed jobs or will the majority be cleaning offices and /or toilets?

If I’m right and Everton want this lad to join our passion then, with the wages and therefore tax he will pay (and don't forget this country is at best bankrupt and at worst fucked), then I’m pretty sure that he will have no problem in governmental terms in getting a permit to pay the exchequer all that lovely tax.

Personally, I’d love to see a guy at the Old Lady who has that mentality that doesn’t give a shit and plays football for the (at least) South American arrogance, with all it’s beauty and panache that the game of football always wanted.

Lescott is gone but Hughes is a fool. Mark Williams was very close as to what is happening. The psychology regarding Mark Hughes and Man City is almost childlike in it’s performance.

Moyes is cool — he’s got this thing worked out... don't worry because, let's face it, apart from goal difference, even Man U lost a GAME OF FOOTBALL. (Brian) Sorry that last bit was a Monty Python thing.

Tony,
Funnily enough I had just the same conversation with a mate a few days ago. I’d said to him it’s a shame Chelsea are not in need of a defender as I’m sure they’d love to get one over on City after the Robinho transfer saga. I then commented on the injury situation at Man U and remarked, "Let's hope Ferdinand or Vidic is ruled out for the season". Fully agree it would give me no end of satisfaction.

Forget the big cheat.

He should never play for Everton again.

I don’t think ’our bunch’ is that forgiving.

Maybe we should just send him over to Libya along with that other forgiven clown.

Where did all that speculation about Man U come from, surely Ferguson is highly unlikely to be as dumb as Hughes in choosing over priced players.

Take the City money and flush the big turd out — at least our dressing room will smell better.

I would be very dissapointed if we allow lescott to leave to one of our rivals at a cut price deal. Why should we allow Lescott to get his own way, or allow Shitty to get one over on us.

Moyes should stick with his values and principles and do what he thinks is right and not cave in to media pressure or outside influnce, especially when most commenting dont have a jar of glue.

Moyes values Lescott at around £30 million and so any deal should it happen should be in that region whether that be in cash or in cash plus players.

Dont fold now Davey make them sweat.
