We're used to bullshit here at Planet Everton but our most recent history has taken it to a whole new level.

Bullshit bingo number 1: "Chairman Bill Kenwright has worked tirelessly to get the best deal for Everton, achieving a substantial increase on Manchester City's initial offer." — Why wasn't he working tirelessly to find 'investment', or sign new players?

Number 2: "I'm expecting two new players in the next 48 hours" — Although Moyes is a great organiser, motivator and talent spotter, his pre-season preparation and planning is weak. 48 hours = nine days and counting.

Add to the list of bullshit the mystery Banega deal, the Sendoros talks, the Naughton fiasco, Elm enjoying tours of Finch Farm without a deal on the table, and you unveil a shocking list of own goals.

I'll be forever blue but I'm seriously considering whether to go on Saturday if we are continually going to be fucked about with and served up the kind of crap we've witnessed since the cup final. Will we have to wait until the 'Deal of the Century' (double the cost of Kings Dock) is sorted before Blue Bill will fuck off? Will we have to wait until 2am on 1st September to reveal our 'big four' signings?

What a fuckin shambles. Not felt this low since the Dinamo Bucharest collapse.

There’s an easy explanation for all of this and it’s Moyes doesn’t have any money to spend. Moyes won’t see the Lescott money either. I was thinking the money was being ringfenced for Kikrby but now I think we’re in such a financial mess it’s being used just to keep us afloat. My only hope is if the money isn’t used for players that Kenwright is paying back Green and Earle so these 2 bastards can fuck off and release their strangle hold on the club.

Moyes should keep us up this year but that’s all we can realistically hope for. From his point of view that’s hardly going to land him the Man U job tho. His stock is highest now so he’d do well to walk away from this shambles.

As my Son said "They really are taking the piss saying Kenwright as worked tirelessly". Good riddance I say to Lescott... If our shirt isn’t good enough for him then I am glad he’s gone. Maybe now the team will settle down... our season starts here.

I hope Lescott warms his backside on the bench for most of the season but then I don’t suppose he won't mind for that weeky wage. Trust we will give him a rousing welcome at Goodison when we play Man City... it's not only Jeffers we should sing "One greedy bastard" to!

Completely agree with most of the OP and comments. Two small quibbles:

"... served up with the kind of crap we’ve witnessed since the cup final." Only SINCE then?

"Our season starts here." Maybe. But that’s not good enough. Another greedy bastard gets £67,000 per week to make sure we’re ready for the first match, not the fourth.

At least we get a bit of humour and drama at Everton when we are attempting to sign players. The Banega mystery just sums Everton up, we’ve got a work permit for him but haven’t yet spoke to Valencia or the player apparently after Moyes said on Friday that we are hoping to see him within the next few days. Also why could we have not signed him months ago? It is not as if he is going to cost much if he is only joining on loan.

Do you not think Kenwright should possibly fuck off with his two cronies?

If only Ciaran, if only.

I’m surprised no-one has come on and explained this Banega deal. We seem to have so many people who post on here that claim to know about what’s going on who’ve now gone very quiet. What the fuck happened to all these medicals?

My thoughts are that Moyes is using the press to apply pressure to Billy Bullshit and the board to tie up these deals. It cannot then be seen as Moyess’ fault for dithering if he’s identified the players he wants — Naughton, Senderos, Taylor, Banega — and the Board haven’t delivered.
Kunal Desai
9   Posted 24/08/2009 at 10:37:35

Peter Griffin last week mentioned that there were medicals taking place last week and said he was confident that there would be 2 deals finalised by last Friday. Hmmm... so what's happened to these deals then, Peter?
Paul Saleh
10   Posted 24/08/2009 at 10:38:22

Alan, the board won't deliver... useless. BK has been too busy working tirelessly to get the best deal for Everton for Judas Lescott... My arse he has! Substantial increase, fucking hell every man and his dog knew we were holding out for £25 million
Just wish he would fuck off and take his disciples with him, 'coz they are fucking crucifying us supporters.

I cant believe the amount of bullshit we get fed by our club. I can't believe they get away with it. As for this Banegea loan deal, what the fuck is all that about? Is David Moyes just telling barefaced lies?

The rest of the Premier League must be laughing their tits off. Other players must look at us and think we are a complete joke. The amount of transfers we've fucked up over the years is incredible.

I just hope Blue Bill isn't hiding some terrible secret about the actual state of our club. What is the reason investors choose other clubs rather than the fourth most successful club in England, a team that has been competing in the upper echelons of the Prem for the last 4 years? We need some answers.

I would have accepted it if we were beaten to the signing of Banega by a bigger club (it's something Evertonians have learned to live with). But what irritates me is Moyes coming out to say that he hopes to see the player within the next couple days and that he will be on a year-long loan, and both the player and the club have NO idea about any dealings with Everton.

Something really strange is going on behind the scenes at Everton and it's only fair that the supporters are kept in the loop.
Kunal Desai
14   Posted 24/08/2009 at 11:20:10

Zaid - you should full well know by now Everton never ever keep the supporters informed about any developments that goes on within the club. It’s been the case for a number of years. The club is quick to pinch the pounds of its supporters but the bigger picture is that they don’t give two fucks about repaying the them back. Communication between the club and supporters is non-existant.

It was in the media last week that EFC were applying for a work permit for Banega. Valencia said nothing. Our fans doubted a positive result and perhaps so did the Valencia officials. Since it was granted they have secured a new loan and come out and denied the rumours.

Banega was watched several times in pre-season by EFC, where he featured in virtually all of their games. I was told he was due to have a medical the day I mentioned, but that hasn’t been confirmed. The player said himself he expects to have a new club for this season. Maybe their officials have moved the goalposts after our routine dithering?

I also said we would be holding talks with Taylor and denied being told anything about Bystrov. I was told we were trying to sign Bentley not Bystrov but City and Villa were also in for him.

As I’ve said before I have no reason to lie, and if you go over what I have said it’s not fantasy bullshit.

1. We were after Banega. A week later we successfully applied for a work permit.

2. We were trying to sign Taylor. Thursday evening it was on SSN we were holding talks with Taylor.

3. I said I’d heard nothing about Bystrov. Moyes comes on the OS and denies it.

In future I will keep my gob shut!

"I’m expecting two new players in the next 48 hours"

How is this a lie? Because they haven’t materialised doesn’t mean he wasn’t expecting it!

Also regarding Elm, I’d assume it’s the norm to view the facilities a potential club before agreeing a deal.

Alan, I tend to have a right good laugh at these so-called people who claim to be in the know. You can add to the list of those in the know Richard Dodd who was telling us Lescott would be sold, then he definitely would not be sold.

At the time I stuck my neck out and said he definitely would be sold and that if the club received an offer of £25m they wouldn’t think twice as I firmly believed that was what they were holding out for. They’ve now settled for a figure close to that so not a bad estimate really.

No crystal ball needed and no contact at the club required. Simply a figure plucked out of the air based on other transfers e.g. Glen Johnson £18m and my limited knowledge of how the bargaining process works.

I was convinced we’d sell on the basis of comments made by Moyes. When he said the club did not wish to sell and then added their (City’s) valuation does not match ours. I thought well if we’re not willing to sell what the hell are we disputing a valuation. Didn’t make sense really.

I do have some sympathy for Moyes though he’s relying upon a bunch of amateurs to conduct proceedings on his behalf and when these fail to materialise he’s left with egg on his face.

Very weird comment from DM:

"All I know is that it should never have taken this long for the correct amount of money to be offered. Real Madrid paid Manchester United the going rate for Cristiano Ronaldo a week after the end of last season. There’s no way we should have been kept waiting this long."

I thought he wasn't going to sell any players as we didn't need to...???

I’ve said before why our deals take forever to do is because we pay in installments where our rivals pay cash up-front.

Fabian Delph, Kyle Naughton are both examples of us being interested, but then trying to sort out our drip payments which clubs don’t want! Other clubs come in and say we will give you what you want upfront. So we miss out because we don’t have the cash to pay.

As many people have said, before we sign players we don’t hear about until they sign. Simply because if another club comes in we can’t compete. Yet with the media today it’s virtually impossible to keep a lid on targets. Clubs and agents contact other clubs and say "we have been offered x amount for such and such a player" to try and start a bidding war.

We just don’t have the money and until the current regime is replaced we never will have.

The only medicals taking place at Everton are a blood pressure check on Mr Moyes and a pre-op check on Bungling Bill prior to having the cheque book surgically removed from his arse pocket. Apparently it is a very serious operation and the chances of success are very low.

Yeah, here we fucking go... Moyes, get some balls and demand transfer money or hand in a resignation — and if you stay can you fuck this 4-5-1 shite off.

Barry, you may be right as according to the Echo this Russian players medical is taking place in Hamburg.

Hopefully Peter, hopefully. Moyes keeps using this word "hope"... For me, all fucking hope has gone.

Ciaran McGlone: 100% correct. The Home Office will not lift a finger on any such applications without the applicant’s passport and other personal documentation, along with signatures, etc. I know as I’ve helped someone trying to get residency in the UK and made numerous trips to the Home Office interview room in Glasgow (where the chairs are chained to the floor so that angry people can’t throw them at the glass). So the bottom line is, Banega was definitely in on the work permit application.

I wonder why everyone is presuming that the Banega deal is bullshit. Yes, some sources at Valencia have been saying that there is no deal for Banega and that no player will be leaving, on loan or permanant transfer, yet Banega himself said he would be leaving and nowhere has he said it would NOT be Everton.

All he said was, and I quote SSN: "I can't talk about Everton, but I will be leaving Valencia this season." Nowhere did he mention that he would not be going to Everton, he just said he could not talk about it. So when people come on saying it's all bullshit, that Valencia said this and that, please try tell the whole story not just the one that sits well with certain people's own ideas.

Everton are not looking to sign Bystrov or Bilyaletdinov, apparently due to the constant shouts at Moyes to get Osman off, officials have spent the last 4 weeks in Russia trying to locate this player called Osmanov. Don’t hold your breath on that one until you see the photo in the back of the Echo.

Under the freedom of information act could anyone get hold of the work permit application for Banega?
Steve Jones
32   Posted 24/08/2009 at 13:15:46

Regarding Banega, Valencia actually said they werent going "to loan" any players out. Didn't mention not selling him.

Now we have funds why should they loan at all? They want their €18 mill back, ideally to offload a player who was loaned out last season anyway. Now he has a work permit, any team in the PL can come in and bag him — so they want a bidding war.

That's my reading between the lines anyway.

33   Posted 24/08/2009 at 13:09:31

Alan Clarke — can your mate confirm if there are any medicals arranged for this week? Would be interesting.

Banega / Valencia. Banega must have known about moving to Everton, as Jay Woods has confirmed. Trying to see the best of our club, I imagine we are speaking to the ’real decision makers’ at Valencia — to quote Mark Hughes.

Point to note, I’ve spent 15 mins trying to find an article on the Valenica official website saying that he is not moving... but I cannot. Perhaps Moyes is not lying on this one.

Finally, Alan Clarke. Last week I said Banega was a winger, but in fact you are correct he is CM.

Peter McHugh
36   Posted 24/08/2009 at 13:47:52

Stuart — stop sticking up for Everton. Ever since I’ve supported our club, EFC have fucked up transfer dealing / ticket allocations — you name it, their running of the club is diabolical.

Concentrating on just transfer dealings, you must remember Kanchelskis being paraded before he was signed. The facts are that we have supposedly got a work permit for Banega. Why the hell didn’t we have a contract in place to sign him on loan, conditional upon a work permit?

Clearly we didn’t and no doubt Valencia will now increase his loan or transfer fee as we’ve done them the favour of getting a work permit. The best case scenario is that our Board have fucked up — worst case is that they’ve lied and no deal whatsoever.

Ciarán McGlone
38   Posted 24/08/2009 at 14:06:15

Mac,

It’s conclusive - Moyes already admitted he hadn’t spoken to the player - therefore it’s likely that there’s been no contact with the agent...

No doubt they were simply at the club negotiation stage....

Now, if Moyes admits the club has not spoken to the player...then how could they have arranged a work permit application without his consent and documents?

This whole thing stinks to high heaven!

It's all very well letting Lescott go now for a couple of million more that City offered weeks ago, but we've got no time to sign a decent replacement, and, coupled with the fact that everyone knows we've got money in our pocket, this is bound to drive up the price of anyone we do bid for!

When will we learn?

Stuart O'Malley
42   Posted 24/08/2009 at 14:45:16

Peter, the reason for my original post was not to be as you put it "sticking up for Everton", but just to try and give a more balanced view of the situation, not just what some people who may or may not work for Valencia said.

Also if there really was no application for a work permit and it was just a big lie, why come out and say that the application was passed? How come they did not just say it was turned down and that is the end of it?

I am as pissed off as anybody with BK, and I don't think he could run a brothel in a prison, but call me naive, but I don't think Moyes would lie to that level. Let's remember, Valencia don't exactly have a good track record with us when it comes to transfers, e.g. Sissoko.

All I am saying is it has not been denied by the player. Simple. No sticking up for BK or anyone, just saying what has been said by the player and Valencia, not just selecting various denials and sticking them up to suit my own ends. Just the facts, Jack, just the facts!

Just a couple of points, Valencia have apparently been given a €64m loan to help out the cash strapped club. This was on a page on the "NewsNow" Everton site in the last day or two. This may mean they no longer have to loan a player in order to save on his wages.

Peter Griffin, it’s nothing new for clubs to pay "on the drip" for players. Remember Steve Daley who went to Citteh from Wolves? He was playing non-league against Rhyl in the 80s and Wolves STILL hadn’t received all the money from the transfer to Citteh.

Peter Griffin
44   Posted 24/08/2009 at 15:10:09

Ray- With Premier League money for finishing 5th, a cup final, Sky tv money, Kitbag deal etc we are still skint. Levy at Spurs, Lerner at Villa, the Arab at City can all just write a cheque for players their manager wants. We have to negotiate installments over several years. I’m not saying it’s a new method in football, but — in context with our rivals — we CANNOT compete!!!!
Alan Clarke
45   Posted 24/08/2009 at 15:17:48

Thomas, it will take me 48 hours to confirm anything! I can confirm that Peter Griffin was right about 1 medical taking place the other week. Unfortunately my friend can’t remember the player’s name! (she’s not a big football fan). So I assume Everton have just bolloxed up the deal.

I will let you know either Wednesday or Thursday what I hear BUT I would still take it with a pinch of salt.

Peter Griffin, That’s ok, I wasn’t taking you to task, merely pointing out that it’s nothing new for teams to pay in installments. And I agree wholeheartedly with you about our parlous financial state. BK MUST have been approached regarding a sale of EFC but won’t let go of his toys.

Apparently the Lescott money has been left in Tesco bag at Burtonwood services, some guy in a Phantom of the Opera mask just picked it up?!

Seriously though why are so incompetent in the transfer market. Why is there so much confusion over Banega? It just seems like a dreamworld, or rather a nightmare, to get to this stage of the window and only now looking at bringing people in. I really don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

I just wish we could fast forward to next week and see where we’re at. All this speculation is at best frustrating and at worst just making our club look totally inept.

Wonder if they’ll start trying to organise piss-ups in breweries as an extra revenue stream?

If Moyes does not spend the majority of the Lescott money (and the phantom £6m we bid for Naughton) then I for one will not be renewing my season ticket.

Enough is enough. I’m sick and tired of that miserable bastard Moyes moaning to the press about this and that. You signed the fucking contract extension didn’t you? Then you’re on board with Kenwright and the rest of the clueless morons who continually take us supporters for mugs. His self-pity act is rapidly getting on my tits now.

If Moyes can’t spend the Lescott money in the next 8 days then what the fuck has he been doing for the past 6-7 weeks? He MUST have targets, he must know where we need cover/strengthening, and he must know he needs to get that fat arse Kenwright to hurry deals through.

Quit the victim act and do your fucking job or piss off.

Bystrov or Bilyaletdinov — sound suspiciously like the same person to me — both begin with "B" and end in "ov"! Wouldn’t put it past Everton with their recent history of bungled transfers to actually buy the same player twice.

I am a relatively educated man (I think!!) — I know that what comes out of players, agents, chairman and managers is done to drip feed to the media to suit their own ends. Hence the reason Billy Bullshit has a history of leaking bids to the media for players we couldn't afford if we saved all the Sky pennies for 10 years. But his latest one has me baffled.

Ever Banega — I know nothing about him, other than that his disciplinary record appears to make Joey Barton a saint. But we have allegedly applied for a work permit for the guy. Yet Valencia (and the player) claim not to know of our interest,

Surely in applying for a work permit, we would require consent from at the very least the player, and furthermore we would be required to disclose certain personal information that could only be gleaned from the player, his agent, or his current employers?

I have to assume that we did in fact attend a court hearing, and we were granted a permit, as this couldn't possibly be another media management exercise. Can anyone enlighten me, as to whether this is a stunt? Can we apply for a work permit without seeking consent, and if we could, why would we?

Or is it as I suspect that Valencia have now changed their minds when, during negotiations, we forgot to mention, that we don't actually buy any players, we only loan them, then offer to pay for them slower than a chav pays his court fines?
