It looks like we're now in panic mode in the transfer market after working 24/7 doing nothing for the past 3 months. Whatever happens it will be too little too late for a number of reasons:
- Most supporters have finally had enough and the goodwill generated by last seson's success has more than evaporated. It was evident at Burnley what faith and belief from the supportes can do and all we do is create cynicism right now.
- Moyes and the players look totally demotivated in fact Moyes looks as if he's punch drunk. He may well have been told "you don't control the sale of players the men in suits do."
- At best we will only be replacing what we lost in Lescott, Valente, Jacobsen and VdM never mind doing without Yak, Jags and Arteta.
- We've got the media against us again having almost won them over with a 5th place finsh and cup final appearance but I suppose this time they are calling it right.
- We've allowed the competition to become stronger than us.
Work is well underway to strengthen Everton's squad.Blues chairman Bill Kenwright, manager David Moyes and chief executive Robert Elstone are all focussed on adding to the players who finished fifth in the Barclays Premier League last season and contested the FA Cup final.
Mr Elstone explained that improving the squad was Everton's key objective this summer.
"There is an awful lot of work going on," he told evertonTV. "We are talking to a number of players and a number of Clubs. The chairman is in constant dialogue with the manager and where I need to get involved, I am doing that.
"We absolutely recognise the need to strengthen - we are fiercely ambitious and if that is the case then you need to go one step further than fifth place and one step further than appearing in an FA Cup final.
"To do that we know we need to bring talent in and we are not sitting on our hands in any way.
"We are determined to strengthen the squad and take to the field in 2009/10 with a better squad than 2008/09 and that is the core strategy of the football Club."
Operative words being CORE STRATEGY!! If they can't get a CORE STRATEGY correct in 3 months, what chance the future of our club in these hands.
I was told recently that Green thinks our club is a circus, much along the lines that Gregg claimed when he had the acrimonious fall out with Beloved Bill.
I have documented extensively that I can't stand Kenwright because he's a liar but as a longstanding Evertonian of 50 years I am finally thinking that, if he doesn't go, I will.
There must be another hobby that would not frustrate me the way that EFC under Kenwright does.

I suspect the answer is simply that they cynically put that statement on the Website to sell more Season tickets.
Of course, they probably expected the Naughton deal to happen to add some weight to the statement, but it all went wrong.
Part of me thinks they are just naive, then part of me thinks they are cynically exploiting us. In fact, the only conclusion I can come to is that Bill and Bob are deluded that they are these super slick hard nosed businessmen, but really they are a bunch of twerps.
As an aside, I see that Elstone is admirably riding on a Charity cycle ride from London to Paris between September 2 and September 6.
When you consider he’ll probably have had to fly to God knows where on September 1 to conclude a last minute deal at 11:59pm for someone none of us were expecting, he’ll be in no fit state to cycle anywhere! Maybe he could cycle out to Kirkby instead as his predecessor was so fond of talking about!

So far the club has published stories about Naughton, Senderos, and Banega. None of these have happened and I'm sick of it. The club should only announce signings when they are 100% complete because it is unfair getting fans hopes up.

Why even one of the senior management there went as far as to describe a group of fans at an AGM (when we had them) as "drunken knobhead Evertonians".
Does any other club treat their paying customers (and even shareholders) so royally?

The amount of posts over the years interpreting Moyes’ body language and how he looks angry, depressed, about to leave, punch drunk, demotivated, duped etc. Perhaps he’s just had an argument with the wife? Or his kids have just been caught smoking at school? Or he’s a bit miffed about losing to Bunrley?
I can’t think that he’s that unhappy picking up £3.5 million a year with such low expectations resting on his shoulders.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned this summer it’s that no one knows what the hell is going on inside Goodison and certainly no one knows what is going on inside Moyes’ head.

Also bear in mind that Yak, Jags and Arteta were not available for the last third of the season, so they will be like new signings, and you can’t count VDM as he was hardly used.

Especially with the internet feeding gossip and false hope to ANY club looking out for new players. How can Kenwright, Elstone or Moyes come and say "I know exactly what you are going through" when they aren’t going through what WE are going through!!
You know that we’ll get the usual statement that comes out after the transfer window closes saying "we tried are best, but the players we need are not available"
Wigan, Sunderland, Tottenham and Villa (as I see it our main competition as we fold like a poker player when we play the top 4!) have all strengthened their squads and I understand we may have more monetery restaints but I find the comments that come out of Goodison almost patronising!
Is there any chance of any sort of transparency or explanation?

I could be wrong but I thought we desparately needed a right winger a right fullback and a central defender.
Looks like Hibbo and Osman have another years grace. Those compromising pictures of Moysey have paid handsomely again.
Then again it could only be press speculation.
