The Yak is Back!

Comments (12)

I am sat here in The Stobart Stadium, which is 20 seconds walk from my front door and I am bloody glad that the Yak is definitely back!

I have just seen him score a quality goal after just 30 seconds and then follow that up by making one a few minutes later. For those of you who attended also tonight, I was the idiot who screamed "Feed the Yak and he will score" after he placed it in — ha ha!!!

He really looked a class act and although he tired greatly, he is surely worth a place on the bench against Wigan.

Also catching the eye with some deft touches so far was the Yaks replacemtn, Cody Arnoux, he looks very sharp!!!

Yakubu enjoyed a dream start to his comeback as he scored inside the first minute.

The Nigerian latched onto James McCarten's long ball and calmly side-footed home after just 31 seconds.

He then set up Everton's second with an intelligent pass to Dan Gosling who calmly steered home in the seventh minute.

...now that should please many Everton fans. I can't wait to see him in the first team.

At last — some good news !

Looking forward to having the Yak back he certainly is a great finisher, anyone know when Arteta is likely to be back.

I’m glad he scored, but it will be at least Christmas before Moyes gets him back in the shape he was before the injury... So let's all be prepared for the original Lazy arse Yak, rather than the one that used to run around lots...

Just returned home. Very good to see the Yak. Great goal, assist and first touch was awesome. He looked very heavy legged before being withdrawn but a great sight to behold nevertheless!

On a side note: Gosling, Duffy, Baxter, Arnoux and Moses Barnett all looked competent and well up for the fight! DM needs to consider all of them if the first team flatter to deceive.

I agree, I though Gosling was effective, Moses Barnett quite similer to Baines, Duffy strong in the air, Baxter very inneffective though, Arnoux very sharp, I was sat near Stubbs who was talking to Duffy throughout.

Yak actually looks lighter than he did, although his work rate was still poor but that is to be expected. Hopefully this lay off has made him realise the work he needs to do on he pitch.

Ian, I think I read somewhere that Arteta posted on Twitter that he was aiming for the bench against Blackburn on September 19th, I guess we’ll see how true that turns out to be.

Was sat a little further back and to your left Anthony and I definitely heard you/some loudmouth bloke shouting ’Feed the Yak!’. I was impressed with Cody Arnoux too, looks a real lively striker. Agard worked hard and held the ball up well. Although their technique let them down at times I was impressed with the athleticism of Moses Barnett at LB and Hope Akpan in midfield.

Duffy looked commanding at the back but Wallace, Baxter and Gosling didn't have the best of games for me. Surprised more than a 1,080 didn't turn up really — pleasant evening, £4 adults, £2 kids, beer in the stands, nice.

Jake, I see there’s also another interesting post on Mikel’s Twitter account from mid July along the lines of...

"My first time kicking the ball again today and I am already better at passing than Phil Neville. Thank you all again for your messages M.A."

Damn funny but makes you wonder if it really is his account. Either that or they really do have a good friendship.

Yak’s travelled with the squad for tomorrow’s game!
Assume he’ll only get 20 minutes if we’re in the clear, but even so - great news!

I thought Moses Barnett did really well, looks a good prospect, does anyone know if he’s right or left footed? as ive seen him play left and right back. Its great to see the yak back, but i thought it was plainly evident he had been told not to go into any challanges at all.

On the Arteta front, i dont think it is his twitter, as he keeps spelling his sons name differently, which if he was real, wud not happen.
