Not content with the disruption that the Lescott "saga" has already caused at Goodison, the BBC now insist on running an article titled "Lescott unhappy with Moyes claims". Haven't they had enough to write about in the build up to his move? He's now a City player, Everton can move on, so surely everyone else can.

I appreciate that during his first press conference as a new player, the question about his "poor attitude" was going to come up, but is it neccessary to write an article that focusses purely on that question??? Shit Stirrers.

In comparison with the journos over at SSN, the article is just pure shite. They can't even get the basics right... "Lescott missed much of Everton's pre-season campaign after revealing his desire to leave Goodison Park but was cheered every time he touched the ball in the 2-1 friendly victory over Malaga on 7 August." Didn't Lescott hand in his request after a full pre-season? We're not fucking mugs — how many people cheered once he had asked for a move?

It would appear to me that the media — specifically the BBC — have a new "darling" in Man City, and if they have their way will make sure that the fall-out makes as big a splash as possible. Lescott himself is quoted as saying about Moyes's comments on attitude, "I feel they were inaccurate. I'd like to address them at a later date" ... Something tells me you'll have more than one opportuniity to address them, Joleon.

I think Lescott is a lovely big fella...

Re Citeh’s good press recently; A cynic would suggest (Me) That money buys journalists as well as football players...

My own favourite quote is from Phil McNulty - ’Lescott isn’t worth 11 million - let alone 22’

I hope we stuff the rich bastards when we play em next - but the likelihood is it will be one more team we treat with too much respect and allow them to dominate possession.

I wouldn’t be too harsh on the BBC in this case. They’re reporting something newsworthy concerning the player, so why complain? Isn’t that what they’re meant to do? It’s not as if they’re making it up.

I loved it when he said ’the players don’t care about the money...they want to be part of something’

yeah right!

The BBC report also contains this pearler from old telly head himself ...’The money doesn’t mean anything to the players here’.
Fuck off Joleon.....You have got what you wanted (and it is difficult to turn down a trebling in wages for the same job) but don’t fucking insult our intelligence any further by claiming you didn’t go for the cash.
I suppose Tevez, Adebayor, Toure, Robinho, Wright Phillips, Barry et al all left far better teams than City because they love a rousing rendition of blue moon and think pricks waving inflatable bananas is dead funny.

John and Steven, I was just reading the same part with the Redshite who sits next to me.

We both forgot our bitter hatred of each other and laughed heartedly at the crap being spouted by yet another one in a long list of mercenaries (which they all are).

I actually thought he was doing well until that part. The heartbreaking truth is that Citteh probably will progress a hell of a lot quicker than us but to say the money doesn’t matter is a piss take. Why were there hiccups when discussing personal terms then, Joleon?

I watched the press conference this morning on SS News. Lescott ain’t the sharpest tool in the box but he didn’t have to say what he said instead he could just have said " I enjoyed playing for Everton who changed me from a Championship player to an England International. This was demonstrated by me signing a new deal with them recently. However, I have moved to Man City becuase they are paying me more than double. This isn’t a footballing decision it is a financial one if I’m being honest. You would all do the same so I’m not going to spout the usual shite about "joining the project" etc

Hope Lescott writes a book about it -- Moyes could use some more cash for the player’s fund (or whatever it was).

Chris - Agree with that. My favorite is when they say they’re looking for a challenge. As if signing for the likes of Real Madrid is some great challenge. If these players liked challenges so much they’d stay at their original clubs -- or sign for Newcastle.

They think being honest would make them look bad (and the retarded media would likely skewer them) but to anyone with a brain (so not the print media) it would be refreshing honesty.

If Lescott feels that strongly about it he could always take Moyes to court accusing him of lying in the press - and I’m sure Moyes would be very happy to.

And I can’t breathe for laughing at "the money isn’t important here" - as said earlier, if it isn’t, I’m struggling to understand why Adebayor, Toure, Barry and Robinho all left bigger and better clubs for East Manchester.

Peter i must say that that was the line that got me too. i suppose if they all tell themselves that often enough they might start to believe it. but at least Lescott now is with his good friend SWP rather than the people he alienated so easily after 4 years of working with them.

I’m sure money had a part to play in Lescott’s decision but we’re all kidding ourselves if we think it’s not also for footballing reasons .

City are more likely to break the top 4 than we will.
They have 2 world class players in Robinho & Tevez ( we have none??!!).
They have a number of top draw players in Adebayor, Toure, Barry , Given, Wright Phillips ( As we do Arteta, Jags, Yakubu). But unfortunately they also have the funds to continue to invest . The fact that we have suddenly found funds for Bilyaletdinov probably indicates how skint we were.

Knobhead Hughes is claiming he has bought the best centre half in the league!
Lets not beat about the bush he was a good player but that was it, he was not the best centre half at Everton FFS.
His best season was at left back for us and last season he was piss poor up until January and shite after that against the big four, minus the Anfield cup game.
I will be more than happy if we get Distin and add one or two more, infact much happier than if we had kept him but bought no one which was looking likely.

Laughable isn’t it Paul.

I know Moyes has had his fair share of stick from TW posters recently, but i’d take him any day of the week over that gobshite Hughes.

Bought the best centre half in the league? You should have dickhead - you’ve got the most money in the league!! For someone with a nickname like Sparky, he’s not the brightest is he??

I’d rather be associated with a manager who has a nack for spotting and developing talent. (For example, grabbing a nobody from Wolves and turning them into "the best centre half..")

Wenger, O’Neil, Moyes etc.

Let’s be fair - what the fuck has Hughes ever done as a manager?

Paul, He was by far the best centre back at Everton. Unfortunately folks tend to forget the mistakes made by Jagielka. Sorry "Mr. Hoofball".

John,

Lescott had more pace than Jags, but for positional sense and consistency Jags is far superior. On his day Joleon is a world beater, but I know who I’d sooner have wearing a blue shirt out of the two of them - Jags is a future skipper.

To be honest, it was the same story with Rooney and if you go to any club in the Premier League with a high profile transfer then again it's the same story. It makes the headlines, slag off your former manager/teamates/club and the press print it. Maybe Lescott hasn’t intentionally said something about the club that was bad, but it has come across that way to the journalists?

Sol Campbell takes the biscuit on that one. Joining Notts County for an exciting challenge.... oh and £70k a week helps!!!!

DiDN’T TREMBLING TRY AND BRING THAT MONEY TO EVERTON? Hmmm

What I found telling in the Lescott press conference was, after his assertion that Moyes’s comments on his attitude were "inaccurate", he went onto say that "I don’t think I disrespected the players but if I did I apologise". That was a pretty spineless ’apology’ for sure but the fact that he felt the need to say it shows he realises he was probably in the wrong, but he really doesn’t care.

To my mind, we’re the ones who should be laughing — we’ve got rid of someone who has been shown to be a spoilt kid and we’ve banked £24 Million in the process — better off without his like if you ask me. Imagine if the offer had come in for a fit Jagielka — do you think he’d have behaved in that way, even if he fancied going?

At the end of the day, he has gone; he was a great player for us for the price we payed. However, we have got a fantastic deal for someone who looks dodgy playing against 3rd rate teams at international level!!!

I liked him and he did seem to be genuinely enjoying his career at Everton. It just shows what money can do.... I have to say that I can't believe how poorly he has conducted himself, he could have come out and thanked Moysie for plucking him from relative obscurity and transforming his career and bank balance. Not to mention the Everton fans who backed him all through his Goodison career. I suppose it shows the kind of guy he is!

I look at it this way; when we sold Rooney: the money seemed to spur us on to that next level; maybe this will help us on our way too... only time will tell.

And as for Hughes buying the best defender in the Prem, time for a slot on the Apollo stage as a stand-up comic methinks! He paid £14-16 million for Toure and Wenger replaces him with Vermaelen for £10 million... I know who I would rather go for! Let's hope Moysie can pull out another trump card.

I have to say I would take Distin or Hangeland but would rather get Shawcross from Stoke. I have a lot of friends who are Stoke fans and they rave about him. I have seen him several times last season, also the season before they were premoted, and he gets better and better.

I am sure Moysie will make the best choice for us... In Moyes We Trust. COYB

What you must all remember is anyone attracting interest at Everton from other clubs is likely to be sold. I think the likes of Peanuts has been watching what’s gone on with lescott and thought i’m playing well let’s hold back on a new contract and see what happens. I’ve heard people say when Jags is fit he’’ll take Lescotts world cup place, well to do this means he’ll have to be playing out of his skin which means he’ll be off to Citeh, the mancs Chelsea or even the shite.

Anyone who believes he wouldn’t go for double his wages is naive. Until we can afford to break our wage structure we’ll always stuggle like this.

First off, Lescott is not the best defender in the Premiership - or the best Engllsh defender for that matter.

Personally though, I felt the way that he fielded the question was, well, not admirable (because I do not admire him as a player or as a person especially anymore) - but diplomatic.given the circumstances.

Now, I sound like I’m siding with him, and to a degree I am playing Devil’s advocate here. Yes, we plucked him from him from The Championship and gave him an opportunity in The Premiership when many wouldn’t take the risk. He’s served us well, but should Wolves have insisted that he stay rather than in his (and of course any Evertonian’s) eyes further his career.. Unfortunately his head was turned by City’s Billions - which arguably gives them a better chance of breaking the Media Four than us - and whilst he had only signed a new contract only last season he was under contract with Wolves when we bought him. The debate as to whether contracts are worth much to clubs these days is obviously one which this whole debacle has flamed further, but hopefully clubs will be able to regain some kind of control - more interestingly is that it has highlighted exactly why the Transfer Window exists... at least we only have to put up with this fever pitch of expectation (and generally disappointment) over the summer and January. Imagine if the rich could tap up all of our players throughout the season - surely our infamous team spirit would be zero.

We have however shown ourselves again to be ruthless in terms of forcing a player to hand in a transfer request following on from Rooney’s acrimonious departure . Yes it has saved us money, but has it done more damage to the squad than kowdowing to what to most seemed fairly inevitable - between £20-25M. Yes, we received more through Lescott’s formal request kncoking off his loyalty payment, but is tht in anyway going to encourage our current squad? Will they have to squirm under the media’s weighty expectation, and be made out to be the bad guy if another club comes in for them?

Effectively, I feel that Lescott handled the question well... of course I’m sure he’s simply waiting until post-Word Cup when he can seek another opportunity by "writing" his autobiography.

God, I hope Man City fuck up!

What really pissed me off was Lescott sitting there in his Man Shitty shirt saying that "he didn’t move for the money, he moved because he wanted Champions League football". Yeah well I look like Marilyn Monroe ... right!!! Believe that and his statement if you wish. Pardon me, but Man City are not in the Champions League this year and I hope they are not next year so I can say "Up yours J-Lo"
