Fulham: No Saha

Saha is out this afternoon
Jo or Yak to start? What do you reckon? I’d quite like to see Cahill up front with a team of
Howard
Heitinga Yobo Distin Baines
Neville
Bily Rodwell Osman Pienaar
Cahill

Yeah I’m looking forward to seeing a bit of that Bily too, Karl.
Not sure we’ll see Cahill as a lone striker though. Maybe up top with Fellaini (in place of Osman) ... but even then.
Don’t know how close the Yak is to full fitness (given that he’s never been that fit probably not too far!) but I can’t wait till he’s back in the starting 11. We’ve missed his strength and ability to bully defenders.
I’m interested to see whether Rodwell keeps his place when some of the big names force their way back in. His performances certainly warrant it but I wonder whether caution will prevail over him?
Karl, where did hear Saha is out for todays game?
David, I got a text at about 9.30am from a friend in the ’newspaper industry’. Normally v. reliable
3 points would be very welcome!
COYB!!!
Gutted if Saha is out; he is a lot more of a threat than Jo and its doubtful the Yak could handle 90 mins.
Jo starts, along with none of the 2 new boys, pretty much what people expected.
Yea, I quite look the like of that team Karl, not really convinced in Jo especially away from home and if needed think Fellaini and the Yak could be brought on last 25-30 mins if need a goal.
Anyone know what's wrong with Vaughan? Is he injured or out of favour or even going out on loan??
Howard,
Hibbert, Yobo, Distin, Baines,
Osman, Neville, Rodwell, Pienaar, Cahill,
Jo.
Subs: Nash, Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Vaughan, Gosling, Yakubu, Fellaini.
In training Hibbert and Osman must look like world beaters. Unbelieveable.
Don’t like the look of team.
This is as good a time as any to blood Heitinga in place of Hibbert, presuming Moyes is going to be playing him RB.
Why pay for international footballers and then leave them on the bench for the garbage called Hibbert and Osman. Moyes is too negative and boring!!!
No great suprises for the starting line up. Interesting to see vaughan is back considering recent speculation, particularly on this site. Good to see the Yak on the bench.
By my reckoning the bench has £42 million sat on it. And that’s not including Vaughan or Nash. Not bad!!
I’m sure there’ll still be those who moan about our lack of strength in depth mind. Even though we’ve got Arteta, Jagielka, Saha, and Anichebe to come back. No pleasing some!
Ah... That makes sense Moyes... Rather than playing two of your exciting new signings, both full international pedigree with quality, world cup bound national sides... Why not instead opt for two crocks of useless shite that will never hear their names mentioned in the same sentence as the word "international" in a million fucking years. Genius!
Why are people expecting the new 2 players to play after only 2 days training. They need to understand how we play, they need to see how we play and this was never going to happen in 2 days !!!
We’ll see the 3 players starting together either against Blacburn next Sat or more probably against Hull in League Cup.
According to Radio City, Saha has damaged his hamstring....again!
Mike Oates, I’m glad someone has a ounce of common sense.
Where possible, Moyes always brings in new players gradually. It makes sense to me.
Jamie, unfortunately we don't really have the time to bring those players in gradually. Hibbert and Osman are both liabilities. I'm pretty sure top internationals will slot in just fine.
Brings them in gradually?? You can say that again, Jamie.
Starts in June... Completes in September!
Don’t get me wrong, I was at Wembley and saw what everyone else saw. Hibbert and Osman wouldn’t get in my first team either — although I certainly wouldn’t chastise them in the same way others do.
I just think Mike's comment was spot on. They need more than 2 days. Hopefully, by the time we visit Hull, they’ll be fully integrated.
I see Fulham have no Mark Schwarzer and some rookie keeper making his debut... hope we can get the shots and crosses in early.
Slot in just fine?
Into a new team, a new language (potentially), a new formation and a new league? Not expecting much, are you?
What if they don’t? Their confidence would be shagged, they’d look useless and be derided by some sections of our support who already hail them as some sort of footballing saviours. Moyes would then be attacked for buying "shite". Case in point; Per Kroldrup.
As much as I hate to admit seeing our right hand side being Hibbert and Osman yet again, Moyes has the right idea in easing them in - and I think he knows a little bit more about his players and football management in general than any of us here.

Zamora looks like a guy you’d want to hit in the face.
been a quiet game for Cahill - up till now
CAHILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Cahill... Tim Cahill !!!
COYB !!!!
Great header. Cahill is back! COYB.
Looked offside I think but well deserved
Hey, who was that smart guy who wrote here last week that Cahill should be our second forward? Oh yeah, that was me.
YES TIMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn’t that chant for Diniyar Bilyaletdinov? Not Cahill.
BBC noted that Billy and Jonny where sent to warm up a few minutes ago...
That’s what I thought Michael, thought I was hearing Bilya, Bilya, Bilya-Let-Dinov.
Replay shows Cahill was off-side. Oh well, sometimes we do get lucky.
In the meantime the back four look solid.
Jo looks dangerous if when in a one on one situation against the Fulham defenders.
Not sure that Murphy will last the match unless he stops kicking people!
Osman is doing his defensive duties well on the right hand side. Perhaps pressure on his place is having an effect

Bit of a dilemma for Moyesie if he is contemplating changes at half-time; Osman and to an extent Hibbert playing well... Not sure who else I would consider pulling off.
They all seem to be playing well. Moyes vindicates sticking with the same side, its producing the goods here. If we continue in this way, then the 2nd goal will come sooner rather than later. Fulham look very unsettled.
Fortunately Dempsey has the decison making skills of James McFadden!
Agree, Jo looks great. And Osman is making that run every time Pienaar is in a crossing position. Could produce something.
And a suitable shout out for the Yank... Dempsey is MOM so far. In fact, he’s all Fulham’s got at the moment. AJ and Zamora have done nothing and less.
I remain unconvinced by Jo
All AJ really offers is speed. And you put a speedster like Yobo on him and you’ve not got much to worry about - as long as Joey keeps up the concentration.
Not really sure what Zamora offers. Glad we never bought when he was at Brighton and a lot of fans wanted us to go for him. Fortunately he went to Spurs at the time.
Jo is better than either of them, but his first touch remains a worry. However he is mobile, can run at defenders and can head the ball. I’d like to see Cahill more involved in the build ups. Obviously he has made a major contribution by scoring, but in other areas he has been a bit subdued.
Cahill seems to have moved over to the right hand side - I thought in the first half he appeared more on the left
Got lucky there. Hibbo fell asleep for a second. Good thing Duff missed.
really clumsy from Neville
DAMMIT. Pip got suckered by Pantsil into that foul, and then they get two lucky bounces. Dumb goal.
http://www.tv2t.com/watch/Live/1515_GMT_Premier_League_-_Fulham_vs_Everton/flash1
Just found this link which seems pretty solid...
Neville’s fault, such a clumsy challenge on Pantsil for the free kick leading to the goal.
Deffo Nevilles fault. Stupid foul.
we need to make some early changes, get billy, heitinga and the yak on.
Hibbert, Osman, Neville off
Make some substitutions now Moyes you fucking cock!....take that wanker neville off!!!!FFS!!!!!!!
This time a brave challenge from Neville. Does not look good for him. Heitinger is coming on
FFS another knee injury the last thing we need
Studs up. Utuhu doesn’t even get a foul, let alone a card. Ridiculous.
I think w*nker is a bit harsh, hes the captain of our club after all.
Some of the postings on here have gone from annoying to disgusting. Let’s hope Neville is ok.
We need to get stuck in a bit more.
Fellaini on for Jo? No Yak??
So no strikers on the pitch now, and why did we pay 9m for billy if we are not gonna use him!!
http://www.justin.tv/spor_channel
Odd. This seems like an ideal situation for Yak.
Never liked Neville and never will can’t wait for the day when he leaves the club. Manc reject. Should have Cahill as club captain in the absense of Arteta anyway.
Back to 4-6-0?!?!?!?! Without Arteta? Don’t like that. Would appreciate win though cuz Fulham is pure shite. Well, 18 mins...
COYB!!!
We are looking pretty poor with little invention
Let’s play a little game... How many Everton players are playing in their orthodox positiion out of the current eleven... answer 5 (back 4 plus Howard).
I always stick up for Moyes but that is a fuckin joke (as is this twat of a ref)
Kunal - nice to see a well balanced view on a player.
Best counterattack of the day. Bad luck for Fellaini that his shot struck an arm. Looked like it was hit with venom.
Damn are we really this bad!!!
surely the yak or billy have to come on..
We deserved that...............gonna be a long season this
How did that not go in!!!!!
Duff - all left foot so we show him onto his left foot. Great defending
FFS, Moyes throw Bily on and let’s see if he can save this game.
Fulham are shite and they’re somehow walking all over us.
Bily must be wondering what type of club he’s joined.
How inevitable is the result of this game?
NOW he decides to bring him on, now that we’re losing.....fuck me i’m getting pissed off
Just awful. Distin beaten in the air, and Baines has a brain lock and let’s Duff go to the middle on his left foot. Idiocy. Cannot allow that.
Anyone now understand why Lescott left this fucking circus!....Clowns man were a bunch of clowns!
We’ve got class players - shame we don’t pick the right ones in the right positions
5 mins to turn this around.. COYB..
Fulham should be playin with ten to be fair Murpgy is a horrible cunt
well done Moyes or did someone remind you we had no strikers on the pitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boring and predictable, Moyes get some fucking balls
Absolute woeful, have we even had a shot from open play?
5 minutes of added time ...
Heitinga has had a mare since he has come on, looks completely lost...
Don’t know about you lot but I’m fuckin embarrassed.
Heitinga has looked Sunday League in midfield.
Hoof... shit.
A fairly even contest between two lacklustre teams.
Mediocrity, thy name is Everton.
Garbage... why did it take so long to get Yak on? Where was Billy. Surely Yak should have come on for Jo and Billy on for Osman. Worst start to a season under Moyes.
So... they tie it up... and he puts a right back in the center. We are under pressure so he takes off our striker... They score and he throws on a player who hasn’t played in a year. I think we were lucky for it to be 2-1.
What a crap second half. To blow a lead to Fulham is a disgrace.
What absolute rubbish!
5-4-1 from the start again. Boring, predictable and just really crap.
We are consistently one of the worst teams to watch!
Heitinga hasn’t looked lost in midfield, he’s been completely overlooked by all the hoofing from back to front. Just a pathetic performance, again. This is just pathetic to go a portion of the game with two strikers on the bench and none on the pitch, horrible management. Our football is garbage, management decisions have been garbage, just shit all around.
Here, here, David Barks. Shit all around & that includes the management. In Moyes I Trust NOT!
Why buy players & not play them?
Take a fuckin risk man!
Woeful. We never look like we’re gonna score. We lack creativity. Players who work hard can no longer be deemed good enough. At least 5 of them players are piss poor.
Things I learned from today’s game:
1 - Moyes seems to think Heitinga can play in midfield
2 - Heitinga appears to be just as bad as Jagielka in a midfield role.
3 - Heitinga should never be used in midfield again.
Things I already knew:
4 - Moyes refuses to make attacking substitutions even when losing
5 - Moyes is not a risk taker
6 - Moyes prefers to let new signings get used to their surroundings before giving them a game ... even if we are losing and the new signings could change the game.
Things I hope we address before the next league game:
7 - Start with Bily on at centre mid alongside Rodwell and Heitinga on at right-back.
Hibbert's crossing was again woeful, and caught out at the far post when the balls come in as usual.
Osman was just annoymous and Jo is just not good enough.
Time to really change things about for the next game, give the new players a start and show some positivity in the selection.
Howard
Heitinga, Yobo, Distin, Baines
Pienaar, Cahill, Rodwell, Bily
Saha, Yakubu
Absolutely awful. Typical Moyes from the start. I said we wouldn't start either of our new players and we didn't. Just how bad does Osman have to play before he is dropped? Not that he was alone today as they were all rubbish. Today showed why Moyes will never manage a top 4 team; he lacks ambition... one-nil up to a mediocre Fulham side and we spend the next 45 mins on the back foot. 4-5-1 is all he knows. The standard of football is a joke.
Hey, it wasn’t Moyes who let Duff go onto his left foot. I thought the Fellaini sub was odd too, but give him credit, Fellaini played fine... good cutting pass to Pienaar (who slipped) and that shot off the arm was ticketed. The defense made the bad decisions, not Moyes.
Neville had no business fouling Pantsil on the first one, and then Distin was caught off balance on the high ball, and Baines’ brain somehow decided AJ’s pointless run was more dangerous than steering Duff into the middle for the one thing he does best. I love Baines, but he’s the rockhead of the week as far as I’m concerned.

Pathetic performance in the second half after getting such a boost in the first.
Let’s switch over to the post-match thread that Kunal has started for us...
This thread is now closed.
Were we really the 5th best team in the country for the last 2 seasons?
We have gone backwards. I dread to think what will happen when we play a top side away from home.
That was absolutely fucking abysmal. If Moyes wants us to persist with the aimless long ball ’style’ of play, why doesn’t he just go and buy a load of cloggers like bolton or blackburn?!? It may prove a little bit more effective. What’s the point in picking supposed footballers such as Rodwell, Pienaar, Osman or Fellaini if you’re gonna consistently bypass them all game - or in Fellaini’s case just play the ball in his general direction and hope for the best? There were glimpses in the first half of some decent moves involving Pienaar and Osman, yet the minute we are put under pressure we resort to the hoof up field to nobody, only for it to come straight back at us. I’m totally sick to fucking death of watching this utter drivel, and it’s embarrassing to think that several million people across the country have just seen us play like that (again!).
Don’t worry though, as Moyes has mentioned a couple of times this last week, we started slowly last year too - so that’s OK then.
