The ref-olution starts here!

Just noticed on news now that our game against AEK will feature 5 match officals!

It's a good move I feel as there to many dubious incidents that could decide matches but because of no video replays etc most of them just become something to talk about after the game... if only the ref spotted that one!

I wonder if this will take off in the Premier League?

Unfortunately, under the current system most linesmen won’t even point their flag for a throw until they’ve seen which way the ref has given it, so I ’m not sure this will lead to any great improvement. I wonder if having 4 assistants instead of 2 may lead to Referees making even more mistakes than now.

God Lord, is there some test for the thickest skinned officials to be the ones behind each goal mouth? They are going to be great for comedy chants - and for getting FIFA pocket money from the inevitable fines due to the hail of pies when a decision goes against the crowd.

If any official behind the goal gets twatted with one of those immense big fat ’starver’ pies, we’ll be banned from Europe for about 20 years (can just picture some poor bastard, covered in gravy saying to the St John’s "One minute I was raising my flag, the next, red-hot pieces of gristle were searing into the back of my neck")

Think Graham Poll has offered to be at the Park End! Will be interesting, though if they are on top of their game (the 5th officials) then we can expect to win 7-5 in penalties if all the players grab hold of eachother at corners like normal! Gets on my tits that.

You could have 100 officials and the decision would still be dependent upon a consensus of subjectivity...
