The Mail Bag

You Are David Moyes

Isn't it time we started playing YADM ahead of tomorrow night's game against BATE in Minsk? The travelling squad from the OS this morning was:

Carlo Nash, Tim Howard, Tony Hibbert, Leighton Baines, Sylvain Distin, Joseph Yobo, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Jack Rodwell, James Wallace, Jose Baxter, Jo, Leon Osman, Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini, Yakubu, Kieran Agard, Shane Duffy, Shkodran Mustafi.

So, if my sums are right, they all start on the field or on the bench. So what will Davey's 11 be? The most obvious line-up is:

Howard
Hibbert Yobo Distin Baines
Gosling Osman Rodwell Fellaini Bilyaletdinov
Jo

And I think that's what he will go with. The only wild card I could imagine would be Wallace to start, with the Big Fella as a Plan B. Doubt it though There's also the Bily question, but I think the temptation to put him on will be too great tomorrow night.

Here is my team for tommorrow, due to lack of numbers i can't see any variation from it:

Howard
Hibbert Yobo Distin Baines
Osman Fellaini Cahill Bilyaletdinov
Yakubu Jo

Gosling may go in for Yak so we go five in midfield but other than that, I can't see any other team getting put out.

Yandy An Der Meyde? What is this YADM... no doubt its glaringly obvious, but I can’t figure it.

You have no Cahill, and I can’t see him being rested for Bate. At least now we have to wonder what the team would be rather than the obvious starting XI because there was no-one else.

Oh, and Rose, Catalunya, Spain sounds beautiful. I fear to google it in case it's a Kirkby.

Bearing in mind Yak aint fit enough for 90 mins, I believe he will come on from an otherwise very in experienced bench rather than start! Tomorrow night:
GK Howard
RB Hibbert
CD Yobo (Capt)
CD Distin
LB Baines
RM Gosling
CM Osman
CM Fellaini
LM Bily
Cahill
CF Jo

Subs Nash, Yakubu, Duffy, Agard, Baxter, Wallace, Mustafi.

There simply is no-one else in the squad available for this game...

Imagine this was the squad in the last group game and we needed to win and needed some impact from the bench — Shkodran who? Kieran who? Shane who?

Not sure why Lucas Neill ain't in the squad? Did he not sign up in time?

Sorry about that chaps - always check your sources thay say, which is why I did and the squad line-up was copied directly from the OS this morning (ie - they said he was on the plane to Belarus). Ah well, don’t always believe what you read ...etc.

Yes Nick - Cahill will start.

No Nick - its not a Kirkby, whatever that is. Just for you - http://www.roses.net/webcam/wc3.asp

And finally, I’m off to the other thread, because as far as I can work out, unless Moyes has taken his boots, we’ve got 6 on the bench tomorrow.

For me it’s gotta be:
Howard
Hibbert / Yobo (Capt) / Distin / Baines
Gosling / Osman / Fellaini / Bily
Cahill
Jo

Ideally we’d get a couple in first half and allow a run-out for the Yak and one of Baxter/Wallace/Agard but depends how niggly the game is - I’d rather lose this one than lose the Yak for another few months!

Oh and I can vouch for Roses as being a fabulous place, stayed in the Hotel Almadabra Park with views over the bay earlier this year. Very tranquil.
Are you on holiday there Keith?

It’ll be Osman and Cahill in a four man midfield...or possibly a five man midfield with Heitinga in there...

It’ll be horrible to watch.

I think the team picks itself considering how many are out.

Howard
Hibbert - Yobo - Distin - Baines
Gosling - Osman - Fellaini - Bily
Cahill
Jo

Yakubu won’t start as Moyes has already said he has another six month to go to recapture his former self.

Anyway, I think this is a good starting XI. I think Osman will excel in center midfield. The problem is that our bench (bar Yakubu) is inexperienced.

Little Choice but

Howard
Hibbert
Yobo
Distin
Baines
Gosling
Osman
Fellaini
Cahill
Bilaletdinov
Jo

The starting line up is a decent one, but there is little from the bench should things go the way of the pear.
Obviously Peanuts and Rodders are huge misses as is Saha. Maybe its a blessing in disguise him being suspended as he will be fit and fresh for Sunday.

I reckon he will start with the Yak just to give him minutes against the mighty BATE (I have no idea how good they are).

Ciaran, I don’t know where your getting the "football will be dire" vibe from cos we normally play good in Europe, some of our best (and most prolific) games in past 3 years have been in Europe, mate.

Roy,

It’s simple an opinion based on the playing staff available...

I will be happy to stand corrected tommorow if my prediction is way off - However, I very much doubt it..

Hi Keith

Roses, Catalunya sounds a step up from calella and Tynan Tours with a bunch of scalls from Salford in 1984, si?

Nick - it is a lovely part of the world, thanks. The broadband streams very well here too so I shall be visiting iraqgoals quite soon now. EvertonTV has been worth the subscrition too, although they are limited in what thay can screen outside the UK.

Hi Alan - I thought it must be you. Twenty-five years ago eh? And yes, you do get a better class of drunk here. Me gusta mucho.

Anyway, back to work. A clean sheet please, no injuries, plus any bonus on top of that.

COYB.

Great result - but as predicted, dire football.

Can’t and won’t complain though.
