3 Away games

Comments (4)

Does anyone else find it odd that we have to play 3 away games in the League in November. I can understand if its later in the year when games get moved or postponed, however this isn't the case. I have never known us do this before.

The Hull game has been brought forward from a midweek December to allow a Europa game - I think

I think Mike is correct. The fixture list produced by the PL is more or less fair, but other factors alter it. European matches have to be accommadated.

TV money, of course, is the next most important factor after FIFA/UEFA regulations. Which is why our Carling Cup fixture against Spurs was changed from its original Wednesday to a Tuesday - to the annoyance of Moyes and to the advantage of the home team.

The PL fixture list I still have pinned over my desk says we would have 3 games in November, one home, two away.

We can’t blame them for that. We know that SKY tell them to put their 4 together for ’supersundays’ or some such crap. But our high positions seem to have given us this benefit -

we meet the teams that finished higher than us mid-season

we meet the teams who were closer to relegation towards the end of the season.

The way their program works seems to do it this way.

I think Mike Oates is right. When do we play our catch-up game against Shitty?

If the Hull game has been rescheduled due to European commitments then I presume it must be the same issue for the 5 teams in Europe. Who’s bright idea was it to schedule a round of league matches in a European week?
