The Poisoned Chalice

Comments (2)

On the eve of the derby, it was with a heavy heart that I read of the news that David Moyes has just won the Manager of the Month for January. I know it might be purely anecdotal, but the award seems to bring bad luck to all who win it. Does anyone have any real evidence of what this award brings to the next match in charge for a recipient? Lets hope for a change of luck....

The thought crossed my mind, too, Tony, but a look back in the archives shows that Moyes was last awarded it on 6th March last year and we won the next two games (in the FA Cup vs Middlesbrough and in the League against Stoke) so hopefully the curse has been laid to rest. No one seems to talk about it anymore.

Apparently, the bookies still believe in the curse - we’ve drifted slightly since this announcment yesterday.
