Fellaini

Comments (4)

Heard on the grapevine that Fellaini will be out for 4 to 6 weeks. This is a big month for the blues and the way Fella has been playing we can't afford for him to be out. If it's right we need Arteta to step up to the plate or, if fit, include Rodwell in the line-up.

I think these games are a bit too big for Rodwell at this point in his career... having said that, we don't have much else to go with in the middle and I’d much sooner he play than Neville. Although I think it will be Neville into the middle and hopefully Seamus Coleman at RB.

My team for tonight would line up like this:

Howard
Senderos Heitinga
Coleman Rodwell Baines
Arteta
Cahill Bily
Saha Yakubu

To me this is a very attacking team, with enough strength and physicality to trouble Chelsea. Also they tend to play fairly narrow, so packing the centre should keep Lampard quiet and allow us to make it more of a battle but with pace on either flank to counter-attack.

Seeing his ankle buckle the way it did on Kyrgiakos’s leg, 4-6 weeks is about what I was expecting, to be honest. Based on prior experience of seeing Blues suffer similar injuries, it just had the look of ligament damage at the time but let’s wait for official word. He’s not due to have another scan until tomorrow.

It is a massive blow, though, and for me really hampers us in this difficult month. Time for a couple of other players to really step it up.

I know we’re only speculating but I said at the time, after seeing the physio done on Fellaini’s ankle, that it would be 2 months out. Assuming it is ankle ligaments, and they’re sprained rather than torn, 6 weeks for a fully fit Prem footballer sounds about right.

this is the time when you wish it had been Fellaini who was two footed in the air and got the red card and Kyrgiakos got the bad ankle and out for 6 weeks
