And this is how its shaping up for the blues....
Everton: Howard, Neville, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Osman, Arteta, Rodwell, Pienaar, Yakubu, Anichebe.
Subs: Nash, Gosling, Yobo, Jagielka, Donovan, Vaughan, Bilyaletdinov

Sorry we’re a bit late getting this thread up... second half only, I’m afraid.
And no Live Forum. That’s still down.
Sounds like a dismal game...
We are appalling again today....what’s up ?
Not interesting to see Anichebe and Yak up front.
Soul destroying are the words that I would prefer to use.
The Yak and Victor start up front. 4-4-2 at last!
Absolute woeful whats going on lads
Beyond dismal
what a difference 7 days makes
No movement.... no pace ..... no frigging idea!!! Hairdryers & teac-cups time at half time and TWO changes or else we gonna get battered!
Why not Donovan. Vaughan ? Speed.
Anichebe and Yak are like two old codgers
Poor 1st half. No idea what Distin was doing for the 1st goal. Defence looks all at sea. Noone holding in midfield. Anichebe is 2nd best to Bale. Up front, well, while the Yak is having some impressive 1st touches & hold up play, he is far too isolated & won’t score without any assistance up front. Rant over! Here’s hoping for a better 2nd half!
I think Neville, Pienaar and Anichebe are still are asleep aren’t they? I mean they’re all pretty awful but I’d take the entire right flank off immediately
I can’t believe that as soon as we went 2 down there wasn’t a single chang made. Anichebe looks way off the pace, and Bale has him in his arse pocket.
Hate to say this but it looks like Moyes negative tactics on thursday have took away all the momentum we’ve picked up recently.
Utter shambles.
Andy, you can’t make Distin the scapegoat for the 1st goal, Heitinga was at fault.
think you ment change not chang Brian but i know which one or ten id rather be drinkin at the moment
John, think you meant ’ meant ’ and not ment.
Andy, Distin pushed up,and let Defoe run through. What are you talking about ? Heitinga had no chance.
Dismal is the word for it.
We’re being outplayed,outfought,out-thought,frankly it’s embarrassing.
Rodwell had one good header which he should have put away but Spurs look superior in every respect.
Not looking forward to second half.
Seems like whoever we play in the back four we immediately retreat to our own box. And I thought it was just Yobo!
When we have a bit of confidence we play a high tempo pressing game that suits our players. Today we look lethargic, lacking leadership and low on confidence. The lower the confidence the more we drop back... very poor.
Sorry, that was meant for Brian, not Andy..
Which Everton will turn up today? Yak and Vic in 2 prong attack - that's interesting.....
Flog both the Yak and Anichebe in the summer and get some proper strikers in.
All I saw was Distin pointing directions when he should’ve been tracking Defoe’s run. Didn’t see it as Heitinga’s fault for me..
sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6816
A really good Sopcast link, if you can bring yourself to watch it. I cant believe how much space the spuds have, honestly we look knackered. Must make changes and score next, if not this could get ugly, fast!
COYB
Brian / Kevin - I think they were both at fault. Poor decision making by both centre halves.
So Kevin, what was Heitinga doing just standing there, and not picking up the russian lad?
Dreading this second half - anyone have any confidence in this Everton team at all? Where’s it all gone?
Jags coming on for Osman, Thats an attacking change.
What a positive change! Not good enough moyes
Distin has been an absolutely liability again today. Had an ’okay’ start to his Everton career, but I never had much confidence in his ability.
Secondly, tired or not, what the hell is Moyes doing playing Anichebe on the right wing with Donovan and Bilyaletdinov on the bench? Even Osman on the right and two up front would be a better option. Or then there’s the Coleman option. Playing a STRIKER on the right wing, when he hasn’t played any meaningful football for a year just seems like lunacy.
No wonder we’re 2-0 down.
Good shot by Johnny, saved by Gomez
Half time would have been an ideal time to get Coleman on, what have we got to lose??
No chance of this from the to conservative David Moyes.
I know Gary, I’m scratching my head as to why Donovan isen’t on, at least to give Bale something to think about.
Huddlestone injured, to be replaced by the make-up wearing Kabul.
Time to make our changes.
One goal would change this team. We seem to need to score to forget the team talk !
Something to ponder here ...
Everton haven’t ever come back from 2-0 to win in the Premiership, except for THAT game in 1994. Absolutely incredible. I can’t imagine a more important game than that to come from 2-0 from though.
Still, doesn’t bode well for this afternoon.
Let’s face it lads Moyes has decided to just go through the motions till season's end. Picking Anichebe ahead of Donovan was a no-brainer. Saha is injured but why not start Vaughan. Anichebe has nothing and should be sold so maybe Moyes wanted to showcase him but as an attacking midfielder-no way.
Neville is crap as a right back — why not start Coleman? I predicted this tired performance after the Lisbon Debacle and that’s why a few fresh faces may have helped but we give so much space away it’s hardly surprising we are getting punished.
get in! Need to fuckin get our act together now!
GET IN, SHOCKER BY THE GOALIE YAK 2-1
get in! Need to fuckin get our act together now!
Back in it, now lets make it count.
Thanx for the heads up lads as ive got the slowest stream in history!!
Now watch...back to what I said earlier. Watch. We’ve scored and will now win 7-2
Rodwell just had a good chance, we are definitely back in this game. COYB
Steve gordon Bennett will give us nothing.
pretty even right now, still shitting me up when they go forward.
Need to take anichebe off. Complete liability.
Anichebe off and vaughan/donavan on...please
Honestly, that boy must be the second slowest 6ft Nigerian bloke in the world
And Yak is about 42 years old
Can’t have the spuds finishing 4th...COYB
Still shocking stuff, too slow.
Nice turn from the Yak, skied the shot though
Will, rather Spurs or City than the shite for 4th - having said that, I still want us to win today
Mikel has had a good second half. Always bosses the game when he’s given space. Spurs are suspect at the back.
Mikel has had a good second half. Always bosses the game when he’s given space. Spurs are suspect at the back.
Liverpool will not be 4th this year...I’ll take City in a pinch, won’t really have an impact on their finances since they can print money
Pienaar with a briliant chance, good save.
Stevie P should have scored
Pienaar unlucky. We should get something here.
we can do this blue! Come on!
Pienaar should have scored then, hmmmmm
Really open match now - but still some really poor passes now and again
Should be 2-2 Pienaar makes the chance for himself, weak (ish) shot saved by Gooober.
Shit Howard just tips over a screamer
WTF, wasn’t Pienaar fouled there?
Anyone explain how Donovan missed that?
Oh ffs, open goal miss for LD
How did Donovan miss? Much better 2nd half. Heitinga’s reminding me of Gravesen atm.
Donovan just missed an open goal, wont get an easier chance in his whole career.
How in the name of FUCK did he miss that
I’m sick of players trying to get others sent off, strong lobbying there from Spurs to get Pienaar a 2nd yellow
Yak is looking a different player
What an absolute shocker! We are our own worst enemy at times. Played some good stuff in this half though.
Spurs fans are the most fickle bunch of arrogant twats - horrible
Everyone has raved about LD - but good players do not do that
Cant see us getting a 2nd

We never score easy chances!!!!
John, good players have done that throughout history - next week LD’ll hit a belter.
Why is Yak played so deep, takes that battleship half an hour to steam towards goal?
How well have we played this half, Jesus H Christ
shud be level at least
I hate spurs so much. Espn are so biased its unbelievable.
Rooney missed an open goal against us, I’d still find room for him on any team
Gerry - hope you are right, but his finishing is certainly the weakest part of his game.
Spurs always have been the media darlings - that is why we have hated them so much over the years
Jags free header over the top. We have had the chances to get back into this, but we are not taking them.
We are definitely the best team in this second half, we have created the most clear cut chances. I didnt catch the first half, but we have certainly been very attacking and direct.
I’d say Arteta is near 100% fit
If this makes it harder for the RS to get fourth, not such a disaster. Just clutching at straws guys ...
Dan, first half, think Sporting Lisbon away.

First half performance was the clincher for spurs and for that I blame the clueless Moyes!
Dan - count yourself fortunate to have missed the first half
6 minutes injury, is there one more chance?
Undone by yet another piss poof 1st half
We’re not losing, we’re running out of time!
We’re not losing ?
Yes we are
Steve Bennet is a cunt. Terrible first half cost us.
Fucking shite, lost that game in the 1st half, never got going till 2 down!!!
You can swear on her Ged, we are all big boys. Should have taken a point, been a tough month, first half was hard to forgive though.
What a load of shite! All we seem to do lately is to play one decent half. We cant have a good 90 Minutes!

Another example of David Moyes being inconsistent. At least he is consistent at being inconsistent!!
Everton will never push on until a new manager is found!
sadly typical of davey M
terrible 1st half then a great 2nd but its all too late
at least we made an effort which was more than happened on Thursday
Methinks we need to improve on the finishing some what
Donovan wants flogging for that miss. It took me a minute to realise he had missed. I didn’t think it was possible to miss like that.
Donovan has done all right during his loan and I was happy when he talked about returning one day.
But after that miss he can go back to LA and stay there.
Fuckin hell Dick, and someone wrote above about the fickle Spurs fans...
6pts out of the last twelve..I would have taken that!
Those wins against Chelsea & Man Utd mean absolutely nothing now, forget Europe next season, 8th spot is best we can hope for.
Brian,Johnny H wasn’t "just standing there," he was tracking his man. The ball flew past him in a split-second,he just couldn’t reach it.
Distin went missing. He did exactly the same in the FA Cup versus Brum.
Good fightback second half. Too little to late sadly..
Flogging? You’re well named all right.Have you not seen misses like that before? Shit happens.
I don’t ever want to see that waste of space Anichebe in an Everton shirt again !
Take a point at City and Villa, win the rest and they are all winnable, we will be fine.
Donovan should have been on when they went 2 up, Bale had Anichebe in his arse pocket, and was a constant threat down the left, as soon as Donovan came on, apart from one good run, Bale hardly got forward.
To me its was Moyes’s team formation what did us , why oh why Rodwell playing off Yakubu in the 1st half . I understand he isn’t good enough yet to play the deep lying CM role but for goodness sake play Pinnear or Osman off Yakubu . We were left with no defensive midfield ( closer down , tackler , Mean bugger) and I’m afraid our Central defence shortcomings were exploited once again by a team playing fast on the deck football.
2nd half Moyes addressed the issue with Jags and Heitinga moves and we were undoubtedly the better team.
I do wish that we had a real cutting edge to our game going forward its always sideways and relying on our full backs to get round the back. There is no fast intelligent movement around the baox with people getting free as Modric did for his goal.
Best will be about 7th and hope for a european slot.
Moyes got starting 11 all wrong, donovan & vaughan should have started instead of osman and anichebe and started 4 4 2..
6pts from the last twelve I would have taken that.
Im watching Villa V United now.
Wouldnt it be nice if we were there?!!
Anyway season over lads. No relegation fear this year but nothing else either - we could never recover from late 2009.
Sorry but that loss hurt and Donovan should have secured a draw with that open goal.
If you play in the Premiership you should have the quality to put away goals like that in your sleep.
I fear Donovan lacks that little bit of quality.
Anichebe was awful too. When did he get so slow? And his touch was awful, he couldn’t hold the ball up if he was allowed to use his hands.
Apart from that it was a spirited fight back in the second half so not all doom and gloom.
Their 1st goal was poor defending from our side. But the 2nd goal was unstoppable, it was an excellent goal, nothing anybody could have done about that.
2nd half, we took it to them, and were the team that looked most likely to win the game. Had we got the 2nd goal with Pienaars chance, I am sure we would have gone on to win it. But it didnt happen, and we lost. To what is now the 4th place team in the league, and at their own patch. I still dont see why Europe is out of reach for us, we have a good run in. Its not time to throw the towel in yet.
Kevin, he must have been tracking the invisible man, because Distin went with Defoe, and Heitinga was in the middle marking space, the russian lad was about 4 yards behind him. They said near enough the same thing in the commentary, and thought Heitinga was at fault.
I bet if that had been Hibbert, he would be getting slated by now.
So after teh euphoria of last weekend where people were making silly predictions about finishing 4th anyone now think we’ll finish 4th, 5th 6th???
Roll on next season!!!
Dan, while I agree we were probalby the better team 2nd half, not by that much though, they had just as many chances to wrap the game up.
Brian read the game ! Distin ran ten yards out of his box, leaving Defoe UNMARKED. The cross/shot should never have happened. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The commentators ALSO blamed Distin.End of.
Fixtures still suggest we can get up that table. Only villa man city and stoke away worry me. Plenty of points to play for. Keep the faith boys.
Agreed Kunal, it was very optimistic to think we could finish 4th, even by Doddys standards!
One thing I was happy to see today was Mikel back in his usual position, and driving the attacks from the back. He is still not at the top of his game, but is improving since his return. Jags and Johnny will need a bit of time to settle, but that is going to be a fantastic pairing. Johnny is certainly another Moyes gem to add to the growing list.
Moyes fault again IMO. An unfit Anichebe on the wing?
No holding midfielder, with Rodwell not in his preferred position in the first half cost us. What was Distin doing? he is a liability, Neville is, well Neville, when is Coleman going to get a go, even 30 minutes to see what he can do. Moyes, get a grip.
We’re not even in 8th anymore...
Next season will be critical. Credit crunch has levelled the playing field somewhat. Just have to hope Liverpool are not bought by a billionaire with Mourinho brought in...nightmare...
Brian, totally disagree, it was Distin who was completely at fault!
Mikel was definitely the big plus today. For me today proved that Saha, Jags, Felli and Cahill are probably are most important players.
Very pleased with the spirit showed, but still can’t get my head around the tactics,
Kevin, get a grip lad, no need for the fucking attitude! Yeah, watching it again they were BOTH at fault, but it’s funny that it is just Distin who is getting slated for it, looks like he has become the new whipping boy.
It was like the other week, it was a twat of a back pass by Rodwell, but Distin got slated for the goal, and has been blamed by a fair few lads on here for the exit from Europe.
DM will play JH in midfield and pair Jags and Distin at the back against Hull next week. Just hope Saha is fit - despite his shite performance against Sporting. Can’t understand Big Vic starting today - he looked out of puff from the first whistle. Bily must have pissed off DM big time.
I haven’t read the entire thread. Has anybody commented on Howard’s ineptitude for their second goal? The ball went directly over his head, yet he didn’t even raise his hands to try to stop it. Howard is a very, very ordinary keeper who gets away with a lot at Everton simply because we are desperate for quality.
