Earthquake in Chile
Comments (4)
With the terrible news of over 700 dead in the aftermath of the earthquake in Chile, I note that Viña del Mar was badly hit too. With the relationships and friends made with our fans and readers in the past regarding CD Everton, can Toffeeweb readers try to suggest some way to ask if there is anything we as fellow Everton fans can do to help?
I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing that the damage and loss of life is minimal, and that their lives get back to normal as soon as possible.

Apparantly an eathquake warning system, which would have prevented most of the casualties in Haiti, would have cost £400,000.
Not a lot, really. Their government is too much in debt to afford it.
This is one small way of helping.

It just goes to show how misleading the media reports can be. When I saw the two pictures of the hotel damage in VdM intermingled with the Conception ones I automatically assumed that both places had suffered the same.
Give John our best wishes all the same.
A close friend and fellow soccer (sic) player here in Austin TX is Chilean, and he went 24 hours not knowing about his family who are thankfully all OK. There are many Chilean and South American players in our local adult leagues, as well as in the local youth leagues now too. It adds to the variety in our games and also reminds us how closely we are all connected, through the game or otherwise.
Some still do not know about their families fate.
CD Everton is of course a strong connection for us all to follow as well.
I will be asking my friend how both Toffees and fellow players here in Austin can best help those in Chile, and will provide any more information I can back here.
Perhaps we could specifically provide support through our fellow (CD) Evertonians as they help other Chileans?
In our thoughts ...
