Everton TV

Comments (14)

As some of you may have already seen, the Official Everton Website are offering one month's free subscription to Everton TV.

Living abroad I find this site extremely beneficial. Its main attractions are the 20 minute highlights of every match and the Live Commentary on each match (via Radio Merseyside). The commentary avoids too much frustration with poor streaming on the Internet.

There are also features such as interviews with manager, players and special guests (often former players giving their opinions on the current team). There are occasionally brief highlights of Reserve matches. All Everton goals can be viewed separately along with the highlights. The Archive enables you to watch highlights/goals from previous matches.

I recommend this site to all Evertonians, including those who regularly attend matches. You no longer have to bother waiting for brief highlights at the end of Match of the Day. There is one slight catch. The OS want you to register for a full subscription (£40 pa) before you can have your free time. However, you are at liberty to cancel before your free month runs out.

I believe that this is a genuine offer, as it was posted at one minute to midnight on 31 March!

Hmmmm... the offer may be genuine, but this post is dodgy, Robert Workman, living in Vienna...

Reads suspiciously like a very well scripted sales pitch from Everton HQ... that or you work in advertising Robert! What's your angle??

Thinking the same thing Nick. Do you get a free set of stake knives with this offer Robert?

Since I am in the USA now, I wonder if I am still able to listen live and/or watch the games on Everton FC TV? I know if I try and listen to Radio Merseyside through the Internet I am not allowed because my IP Address is outside of the UK (as with the BBC iPlayer).

When I was living in Seoul and there was no way to watch the Everton matches they the OS subscription was good as you get 20 minute highlights of each game, sometimes more, and sometimes a whole game.

But I had technical issues with downloading the videos which the OS technicians couldn't and wouldn't resolve so I gave it up and then moved to a country where they show all matches, not just those with Korean players.

And now I've found that you can download entire matches or highlights from various free websites anyway.

By the way Jimmy, the live radio commentary from Radio Merseyside did work in Seoul but they are not allowed to broadcast the video live.

I signed up for ETV during one of our frequent extended stays in Spain. Watched the reserves play the pre-season games (not ETV's fault!) and it is now part of my EFC life - for reasons listed above.

Mac users beware - I gave my niece the spondoolicks to sign up for her birthday. In a Mac household, no way - Microsoft only.

The service they can provide is limited by regulations beyond ETV's control, so if in any doubt get them to answer any questions you have before you commit. But if it works for you, its very good value IMHO (which I never ever say).

ps - ETV: an open cheque in a plain brown envelope by Wednesday or I say I did this under torture. Ta.

Talking of torture Keith, it well describes the feeling when trying to watch the live streams without interruption.

Jimmy you should able to listen to the live radio commentary outside the UK. It works OK in Ireland.

Keith, tell you niece to go here: http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm

She can download a free version of this software that allows you to see Windows Media Videos on a Mac. I'm on a Mac and can view all content on ETV using this.

Jimmy Changa,
I live in Houston and have been an OS matchday listener for years. You will have no problems with the site, other than the match highlights are delayed to outside UK areas until after midnight. Other than that, it is well worth listening to the live broadcasts - and they are totally biased in in favour of the Blues!

Yep, I am a Mac user and have no problem on ETV using Flip for Mac :)

This is off-topic, but did anyone else see Coleman's goal for Blackpool today? Dribbled into the box, feinted the defender and scored. It was more or less his assist for the first goal (is that 5 or 6 assists now).

Should not be lost on us that £5m Kyle Naughton is making no such impact on loan at Middlesborough...

John - there's a bit of chat about that on the Jack & Peanuts thread.

Peter - thanks - will pass it along. There can be no more computer literate family than the brother's (trained by IBM in '69) but living out in the lovely Cheshire countryside (a correlation there?) they have suffered from non-provision until very recently.

Brendan - I'm glad we're talking about this rather than 2 minutes before kick off.

The usual suspects I'm afraid, but the best thing for me of late has been Veetle. Download in about 3 minutes, safe as far as I know (my protection is AVG, seems to work).

So, on ATHDE.net, Iraq Goals and P2P4U, if one subsigns 'powered by Veetle' it usually stays on for the match, the second half almost certainly. The first minute looks watery - keep going. It sorts itself out.

A wild card is Zulu - a Russian stream. One of their channels usually has a PL game on - and (because of Bily?) they have picked us out a few times this season. It freezes for 10 seconds every 30 or so, so you can miss important bits, but good pics. Very hit and miss of course.

Ta Keith - though I was referring to the ETV live streams for pre-season friendlies, which can be unreliable.

Nick/Steven
Thanks for your humourous cynicism - it gave me a couple of laughs first thing this morning!
I am genuine - or I was last time I checked! I have been meaning to post on this subject for some time in case there were Evertonians overseas (and living in UK away from North West) who were not aware of this site. Must admit it does read a bit like a sales pitch!

Still waiting for the steak knives to arrive Steven - from my daughter, not EFC, a belated Christmas present!!
