Is there a new kit on the horizon?

Comments (31)

We've had one every season since 2002 under the old Puma and Umbro deals. Anyone got a steer on whether this is the case with Le Coq too? It's coming up that time of year...

Isn't there a rule that states a team can only change their kit every 2 years?

Dave,
I don't think there is a rule that specifically states that.

Also, why are we the only club that doesn't ever know if we are getting a new shirt the following season. Most clubs launch theirs in early May, we don't even know if we are getting one.

Now that we are sporting retro kits from our past I'm hoping they go back to the 97-98 design ala Cadamartari derby winner shirt... I know it was an Umbro shirt but I've always liked that one.

From the prices we're selling the kits for online at the moment, we're definately getting a new kit next season. Be glad to see the back of the home one but, having bought the away one, I wished we could keep it for another season.

Can't understand how we're the only club that changes all our kits every season. Must be a nightmare for parents of young kids.

An amber away shirt would be nice! Although I must admit this seasons black & pink effort has grown on me over the season!

I was in the Everton 2 shop the other day and the lad behind the counter said that we are getting new home and away kits next year. He said the away kit is still black and pink but has a lot less pink on it than this year's.

Colin. Im with on that one. I even bought a Kejan one the last time we had amber. Amber, blue ,amber. The rcognised Everton away strip(for me anyway),with white, blue white as a third kit. That is style that is. I have always disliked Le C. kits.

Colin - we aren't the only club to change their shirts each year. Every club bar Utd, Arsenal & the RS change all their kits every year and the RS & Arsenal change their away kit every year.

However agree that this years shirt is the worse one for 24 years.....

LCS are pants.

I've always felt that changing the home and away kits on alternate years would provide a fair balance between the club's needs and the fans'. Unfortunately no-one that matters seems to see things that way.

As next season will be 120 years since our first title win in 1891 it would be rather appropriate for the change kit to be all salmon pink as per the kit worn by that first team of Everton champions.

Aren't we unbeaten in the black and pink? Hell, let's try it as the home kit for a season and see what happens!

It wouldn't surprise me if LCS follow the same path as 25 years ago and give us the Lineker 'white bib' shirt. You never know... Watch this space!

Yes there is a new kit. It's a bit like Birmingham's current home kit. Personally I like it.

Here it is:-

Well if we MUST have a new kit, I hope we finally get back to the correct shade of blue. It was always royal blue in the good old days, a great deep blue! They should also sell them for about £15 and perhaps we really would start making money on merchandising.

Thanks for the link, Brian, I think the amber one looks promising. I agree with Tony regarding the specific shade of blue, as I've found myself looking suspiciously at our home kit for a while now!

There was however a guy who posted here about a year ago, who confirmed that we still use Royal Blue. From memory, he was in the industry, and confirmed the technical shade used did indeed correlate to our specific colour.

Maybe,if this becomes an issue, the editors could dig that article out, to allay any fears!! COYB.

Brian, that kit has been posted on here several times, but luckily it's not our next kit. It has been created by some fan on a website where you can 'design your own kit'.

I would imagine next season's kit will be worn by the players at our last home game.

Phil, they usually have the tops on sale as well for the last game too, to show your support and all that rubbish. They are definitely late releasing them this year, no images or clues yet by the club.

Phil — it is our new kit. I was sent it as a photograph to my phone of the said garment.

Can you post a link to the website that you mention that allows you to design kits?

There was a rule restricting shirt changes to every two years..if I remember correctl the first year it wa implemented (about ten years ago) united brought out about 20 new shirts in two years....

I think it has bee abandoned since no-one appeared to even know it existed..

Our home shirt is horrible..hopefully it goes.

My initial thoughts were that our new kit could be similar to Birmingham City's current one, only due to the fact that Le Coq Sportif did the same 25 years ago with the 'Lineker bib shirt.'

Yeah Brian, that was a fan's kit design submitted to BlueKipper on March 10

http://www.bluekipper.com/news/11-kit_news/882-new_kit_or_fake.html

at least that's how I took it. Don't know where the Saha bit came from. There are a couple of other shirt designs on the site too.

Thinking about it, the recently upgraded official site has a horizontal stripe motif runnig accross it... That leads me to think the link to the design above may not be too far from the truth.

2 + 2 = chest stripes?

Blue shirts, white shorts, white socks... easy.

Amber shirts, blue shorts, amber socks. End of discussion.

Brian - have looked into this and looks like Phil's right. Here's the link to the websiteof the guy designing these things, his names Zoran and he did our one based on a template design he did for Hibs, see Friday 29 Jan 2010 for ours.

I hope it is not July. The club should have it ready for start of summer to maximise sales. The new RS kit is out already, typical of the amateur nature the club has. In addition, this whole club shop or online only is a joke. Who agreed to limit exposure like that?

As for Le Croc of Shit, the sooner we get rid of them, the better.

Andy, what difference does it make whether the kit comes out at the end of May or the beginning of July? We will sell the same amount of kits whenever it comes out and you can hardly say early July isn't in time for summer as the schools don't finish until around the 3rd week.

Also, maybe our annual budget allows for the money to come in in July for a particular reason — maybe the club are mindfull that they have just asked the majority of their supporters for around £500 for next year's season ticket.

Also how does having an on-line shop limit exposure? Our fans need to get real; sports shops in Birmingham, Newcastle, London etc don't want to sell our merchandise as they don't have any buyers!!!! As such, we set up an on-line shop for our fans — surely that should be applauded?

I really do think you have been a bit unfair with your criticism.
