Young Guns triumph as Reds falter

What could be better than having the "highly regarded" Young Reds balked at their own gaff, on the last day of the season, by a team they just whopped 4-0 two days earlier? That has handed FA Premier Youth League Group C to long-time leaders, Everton.

Unfortunately, they have not "won the League", as the useless Official Site proclaims ? they have only won the Northwestern Group ? still, plenty of bragging rights, especially over their local red rivals, who the beat 4-0 a few weeks back, so that was really the key game of the season.

They now go on to play in the national play-offs, the first semi-final is at FInch Farm on Monday against Aston Villa. Fulham and Sunderland meet in the other semi-final.

Some of you may know that we try to keep a full record of Everton Academy matches played each season, teamsheets, scorers, and match reports gleaned from wherever I can find them. They are all arranged here, in one file for those who are interested, and I've added an appearances table too.

Well done, lads: two more wins and you really will be League Champions!

U18s win the league!!!!!! Club in crisis? We can't compete financially but maybe the youth is the way! Plus selling youth makes us more cash e.g. Rooney to buy others who will give us five good years e.g. Cahill and Arteta. COYB lets beat the negative fans.

Some good news. Our U18s won the league and are now in the national play offs semis vs Aston Villa.

Bet Moyes is hoping some of them can step up sooner rather than later with the transfer chest looking knackered again!!

Go on the Under 18's. Some positive news at last!

I'd play that side with the addition of Big Dunc on his return tomorrow.

Thanks for collecting all that information, Michael. Just one of the many reasons this is an exceptional site.

Awesome stuff. I'd love to see ALL these kids go on to the firsts team and bring us success. The obvious reality is some/most won't make it or will be sold, but I'd still like to see it.

Let's lose some of the deadwood in the summer, eg. Anichebe, Vaughan, yakubu and maybe heitinga, bily (unfortunately), Baxter (more because there doesn't even seem to be a point in having him because moyes will only play him for 10 mins twice a season) maybe even Arteta (given his form) and Saha (who has broken one time too many now). Then let's start promoting some of these younger guys. Surely they won't perform any worse than some of the above lot, they are cheaper, and some may even go out on (genuine) loans to gain (genuine) experience.

I mean, we can't buy anyone so this should be pretty much the only option. Although there is always the 'Moyes' option, continue playing the same old tired lineup of favourite players and hope they somehow come good....

Come on you (U18s) blues!

Perhaps a more sustainable future for EFC... oh I forgot... the board is less than useless and Moyes seems to have an aversion to blooding youth (unless forced upon him).

Well done all the boys and the coaching staff... Come on ? let's stuff the Villa!
