Huddersfield v Everton

Comments (8)

Great draw for both clubs.

My dad is a lifelong Terriers Fan. It will be great to bring him to Goodison Park to watch what should be a great match. Huddersfield play good attacking football.

My dad pointed out that Rev Ben Swift Chambers was born just outside Huddersfield. So there is a bit of history linking us.

Here's to a good cup run.

Looking forward to it - I'd love us to win the League Cup.

Another link is that they're captained by one of our former players.

It's weird being in the competition at such an early stage. I don't like it.

Three reasons to look forward to the Huddersfield clash.

1. Peter Clarke
Former Everton youngster once tipped as a future Everton and England regular. Went on to become a lower league stalwart currently at Huddersfield.

2. Gary Naysmith
Played over 100 times for Everton but never looked anything other then very average. Naysmith joined Huddersfield in the summer.

3. We should beat them comfortably.

May I be allowed to mention the greatest full back who has ever worn the number 3 shirt. A true legend: Mr Ramon Wilson

Bought in 1964, I think, from Huddersfield, with Mick Meagan going the other way.

Dick, Huddersfield will be a tougher game than you think, they are a very good footballing side and are tipped to be up there challenging for their league this year.

I do expect us to win though but comfortably, I'm not too sure, even though they're a League One side, they're better than you think.

As to links to ex players, Dave Hickson had a very good stint there in the mid 50's and more recently, Jutkiewicz (shockingly shit loan period, threw teddy out by all accounts), Jevons and Cadamarteri had stints at Town as well.

If we're as good as we think we are, then we need to be hammering teams like this.

I watched Huddersfield play last weekend when they beat Notts County 3-0 at Meadow Lane and they looked a good side. Made a confident County team (on the back of a Championship winning season) look very poor. Clarke handled Lee Hughes very well and their winger Pilkington looked good and took his goals well. Naysmith looked a bit off the pace but played a couple of nice passes. Having said all of that we should have more than enough about us to beat them comfortably.
