The Best or Nothing

Comments (26)

I assume I'm not the only Evertonian to have picked up on the brand new strapline for Mercedes. "The Best or Nothing" is so close to Nil Satis Nisi Optimum as to be indistinguishable.

Which presents an obvious opportunity, rather than a problem. Especially as Stuttgart (their base) doesn't have much of a team.

If I were Marketing Director, I'd be on to Mercedes yesterday to highlight this synergy and suggest a little exploitation of it. EPL games are screened globally. As good a marque as Mercedes obviously is, we can always do with some new marketing to wider audiences. I'd much prefer that smart logo on our shirts than an oriental beer.

I envisage management & players driving Mercs. Competitions for fans to do the same. A Mercedes stand with integral showroom & corporate facilities. Sheesh, the list of opportunities is endless.

Then again...

Stuttgart's stadium apparently is called the Mercedes-Benz Arena.Looking at their club they seem to be of a similar size and status to us, 41,000 capacity, 5 league titles, 3 german cups, every now and again in Europe.

Would be nice to see the Mercedes emblem on the shirt instead of Chang but it's never going to happen as our history shows we only seem to get the smaller companies who are not as well known-Hafnia, NEC, One To One, Keijin and Chang. As were having a bit of fun here, my brother always thought that Ford would be a good logo to have on the shirt and I have to say, what with the colour blue that Ford have on their badge and the style of writing, it would look smart.

If the Mercedes had no wheels on the right hand side then it might fit better with some film of the team.

I would bet money that within 12 month's of Mercedes sponsoring us there would be a thread on TW tellingthem how to build cars.

I've just been told by my next door neighbour's sister's cousin's mate that Bill Kenwright has rejected the chance to sign a deal with Mercedes and instead has negotiated a deal with Lada.

@Richard Reeves #5

I almost posted re. Ford being a great match - not only for colour - only a few weeks ago. Can't remember why I didn't, but yes it would look smart and there is a strong history of Ford on Merseyside. Not sure it makes sense from a Ford marketing perspective though.

Micheal- To maintain your credibility you really ought to be not letting this stuff emerge.

On other sites people are going to laugh.
