Season 2011-12
The Mail Bag
What a twat
How long eh... how long? The list is endless. Everton robbed by a referee with his head so far up his own arse he can play the mouth organ on his larynx. ?It was an honest mistake? the pundits will say. ?He got it wrong? ?It was not one of his best performances?. And the list of injustices grows, the list of shite performances by shite and probably bent referees continues. Add Martin Atkinson?s name to the list headed by Clive Thomas, add it just behind Graham Poll, stick it next to Clatternburg, to Mike Riley, to Uriah Rennie.
I hate getting beat by Liverpool, it hurts - but the sting is taken out when it?s a fair even contest. I?ve seen us get trounced 0-5 and a master class of forward play by Ian Rush and it felt better than this. This match was ended as a contest after 20 minutes when Rodwell was sent off in one of the most inept decisions I?ve ever seen in a Derby game and I?ve seen a few.
As to our performance after the sending off - it was all about containment and we didn?t have the resolve nor the reserve.
I?ve had enough. We were up against it already with £100 million pre-season spending playing £250,000 - but this tit of a referee for reasons best known to himself (and who knows - his bank manager) felt he had to even up the score a bit.
Sod this for a lark - I?m off to watch a game less bent, like Stockbridge Village Infant school arm wrestling The Kiwi Rugby Union side second row - or cross channel swimming whilst carrying a piano.
Thanks Atkinson - I look forward to your book. If I might suggest a chapter - ?How I coined it by killing football?

The Prem is the best league in the world so why do we have many poor referees?
Come on you Blues.
Fooball is dying... And not before time.
They talk about respect for referees.... well if the got the fucking decisions correct them everyone WOULD respect them ? didn't see auld whinger moaning about not getting decisions today did we... fuck no
If ATKINSON has any conscience at all he will resend the red as soon as he sees it in his dressing room... and then he should be struck off the referee's list... not just the EPL but every list there is.... right down to U7's in his local area.
FUCKIN INCOMPETENCE OF THE HIGHEST ORDER... but what will happen to him? FUCK ALL ? that's what
IMO that decision and that decision alone cost us the game and he should be fuckin ashamed ? just like Twattenburg he will probably never ref another game at Goodison.... useless bastard!!
Would still rather be a Blue though than have hollow 'victories' as a Red.
COYB
Just remember a handful of ref's giving favorable shite decisions over the course of a season does not constitute the Anfield club will come out of it with anything to show for it, don't be surprised if they end up with nothing, and it won't be the first time in recent years.
Also you'll find Moyes, or managers in general aren't allowed to vent their frustrations as it may upset someone. i.e "Today's match official was an inept fuckin' so-and-so", you know, someone might object.
No signings
Players leaving
Incompetent board
Negative manager
Dour football
And you can now add cheating officials to the list... just once just fucking once can Everton get a break in this game? Nope, too much to ask for fairness and an even contest.
We do not, and I'm nearly sure about this, have players who will deliberately cheat.
We don't have Andy Carroll; surely the worst signing in the history of the world.
We don't have king Kenny, That hatched faced, charmless undignified piece of talentless shit as coach. Yeah, I know we have Moyes but he wasn't to blame today.
However, I want to congratulate our lads in the second half. They did not lose heart and battled through the whole game. We should be proud of our players today.
As for the dirty ... why was Suarez not booked for diving, piece of shit.
I have never been more livid and I completely agree with us throwing bottles at them, they fucking deserve it. TWATS.
It's too late for this match but it will be interesting if we appeal the red card, and what response we get.
Good job I've had time to reflect... Completely spoiled the game. Always the same.
IMO, that's where the cheat tag can be used big style.
I'd also add that refs are notorious for not giving decisions against the "big" teams because of all the media interest it sparks. Half of that media interest is driven by the managers of big clubs like Wenger or Ferguson coming out and having a whinge when things don't go their way.
Sadly this one is going to get forgotten about soon enough because Moyes will probably not say anything much. And that's not a criticism, because I applaud Moyes's stance on having a squad of players who are honest and don't berate the ref to the same extent as some clubs, but it does irk me to see that we are in a minority in terms of that attitude and it really does us no favours in matches.
Maybe time to throw that out of the window and dive, feign, cheat and cause a stink every time the referee does something against us.
Shame actually, because I thought Moyes got his selection and tactics right today. The boys were doing good up till that point, too. I honestly thought we would win. Disappointing we're talking mostly about the ref again after a derby game.
The worst refereeing performance I have ever seen. I have slammed David Moyes on this site but today, forget, apologist or Moyes hater. We we were the victims of cheating, incompetence and cowardice.
But you're right, today is not about berating Moyes, he went for an attacking option during the game but the damage had already been done early doors, and I've seen worse refereeing decisions than that prick this afternoon. France vs West Germany in 1982 as such an example, but yes, getting tired of getting fucked over by Redshite favoring officials.
He is reluctant to play strikers but when he does, he makes it a player who's had no match practice for ages and isn't the type to rough defenders like Carragher up. Strac should have at least come on in the second half and put himself about and Saha shouldn't have got 90 mins. He was understandably knackered well before then. As for South American 'footballers'? ? they shouldn't be allowed in the country after this week... (er... except Strac).
Now, if he'd have sent off a Liverpool player unjustly the gods of football would have shit on him as from above ? but we're Everton; second tier, not likely to be a powerful force in Europe, not likely to rock boats...
The guy got it wrong, but he would never in a month of Sundays got it wrong the other way.
Therefore, he's a twat, and probably a bent twat.
ps: I've been thrown off the Guardian Website for suggesting such ? draw your own conclusions.
When I saw Atkinson was down for this match, I ? like the many who pointed it out on here ? was worried given his record & stats.
However with the support, coaching & monitoring modern ref's get I thought "No, give him the benefit of the doubt as he'll be well briefed. You know, it's a derby, don't over react & spoil it, etc..."
How bloody wrong was I ?
Over the years I've seen some stomach churning tackles in these games. Rodwell's tackle warranted no more than a quiet word at most. Surely it'll go down as one of the softest red cards ever given in a derby!
I reckon we would have won the game if this never happened. We were creating chances and kept them at bay but, after this we completely had to change to a defensive setup. I also hate that annoying little prick Suarez. His face just riles me up and he also looks like a rat. He also prevented Ghana to be the first African team to get to the World Cup Semi Finals after handled the ball on the line last summer. He is a good player but is a cheating, diving and dirty player. Fuck you, Atkinson... Fuck you, Suarez... and fuck you Redshite.
Have we any other strikers that can hit a ball like Saha? ? No.
Have we any other strikers that have a bit of skill like Saha? ? No.
Have we any other strikers that have big game experience like Saha? ? No.
What do you expect Moyes to do with the squad he has? ? wave a magic wand? The sending off decision was an absolute disgrace and Dalgish not wishing to comment is another disgrace, not just to Rodwell but also his fellow manager and football fans in general
If there is any justice at all, the red card should be rescinded but we all know that would be a major surprise if the happened. The guy Suarez rolling around like he had been chopped in two will hopefully come back to haunt him in more ways than one!
Hibbert would also have been sent off for the challenge on Adams ? the only reason he wasn't was because the ref knew he had made a mistake with Rodwell. All-in-all, it's tough being an Evertonian, but this is what makes us the special fans we are. Keep the blue flag flying. COYB.
I'm not convinced with Drenthe. Anyone can see why he would never got a chance @ RM. It seems he's a bit useful with his mouth. Needs to to do his talking on the pitch, if you know what I mean.
The FA should come down on players retrospectively if it's deemed that they've simulated injury. Nobody wants to see players injured (well on the whole), but Suarez conned the ref. Admittedly the ref could not have had a better view, but given the pace of the game and the fact Suarez acted as though he was seriously injured, clearly had an effect on Attkinson's decision. The same goes for Charlie Adam... one minute he's rooted to the ground looking like he's going to have to be registered disabled, next he's almost breaking the crossbar from 20 yards.
Until the football bodies act, then there will always be shit like this. Unfortunately as much as David James may suggest that controversial decisions are what makes football great... but it's not. TV replays for decisions such as red card incidents is something that has been widely discussed - there are problems with the slow down of the game though. However, the football authorities should reprimand those who try to deceive the referee in the same way that they reprimand those who actively try and injure players. They have tried to stamp it out with yellow cards for diving, having to leave the pitch if you're injured etc... but the only way is to ban players retrospectively.
Fellaini did well today as did Saha. Hopefully Louis still thinks he's got something to prove and we'll see a good season from him. If he does stay fit and well then I dont really see a place for Cahill.
Only just got home and still seething - but here, maybe, are two tiny shreds of comfort from today....1).we showed something today thats been lacking in previous games and maybe - just maybe, we will get angry enough to kick on from this for the rest of the season and 2) watching that shower of arrogant cheating bastards has convinced me they will win fuck all this season - including a Champions League place - how many millions? They were shit.
You know, we had Andy Johnson battered from here to kingdom come because managers said he dived. That diving RS fuck will probably get praised by all and sundry as being a good pro.
Oh and whoever it was above who said they agreed with throwing missiles at the players, don't be a nob! It's never justified, tempting as it might be to throw a brick in Suarez shitty, cheating, vile, twatish, ugly arsed, rat face, we musn't!
James @20
Agreed!!!
Going out soon, gonna be a late night and a few sherbets going down, but I would of done that regardless of todays result, OK, we got fucked to an extent by a less than excellent match official, the opposition won, it was a lousy afternoon, the players for their part tried, Moyes did some alterations from last week, I hate losing to this cunt opposition as much as anyone else, but all done, the result stands and we have to move on, all is not lost in the league, and then there's the FA and League Cups and you never know what can happen. I'm still getting on with it, but from here on tonight I think I'll divorce myself from any further soccer talk. There'll be brighter days than this.
Anyone watching Bore of the Day later on highlights can fill us in later of what is said and what order they put us on, expert Hansen's 'Impartial' comments, drooling over a shite victory and giving Anfield superlatives, and Dixon, Lineker etc, boring the living fuck out of viewers.
I'd rather go out and have a few sherbets if it's all the same. Just hope there is a certain sense of amnesia out of it.
Any ideas for how you would have reacted if you were the manager? I'd have been minded to tell all the players to sit down for the rest of the game in protest but the 90-0 defeat would have been no good for our goal difference. What is the penalty for refusing to take the kick off after the other team score? Who would get booked? You can't blame any one particular player for not taking it if no one is near the centre spot.... or can you?
A disgrace. He should come out to explain and Moyes should vent his anger on the TV.
Oh no. All we are saying is incompetent referee who should be reigned in before he can do further damage. The financial situation thrust upon fans is bad enough but Refs like him will put the icing on the cake. People can lose their jobs just because of his incompetence. Clubs can lose revenue as fans realize to stay away when such buffoons are officiating.
It was an absolute disgrase what happened today. We looked pretty good until that twat sent off Rodwell. That cheating diving bastard should be banned.
We all know refereeing is a tough job but he the incident was right in front of him. After the sending off thought the lads performance was brilliant - could not be faulted. Anyone who says otherwise have a look at yourself.
Its about time these refs who totally spoil a game are made accountable .If they want respect its about time they showed the fans some. Atkinson should come out and apologise after that performance -surely we are going to appeal the red card ! Did anyone notice that in the second half Atkinson was going to book Lucas then suddenly remembered it would be his second and would have to send him off - that summed his performance red tinted.
Was so angry coming out the ground but now after calming down and a few drinks feel so proud of the team and you know what am proud to be a blue. We can all hold our heads high the red shite know they only won because of the ref .
The record should so Everton 0 Atkinson 2.
So here is a genuine question. Can anyone ever remember a similar twisted decision go against us in a derby?
I can't. I can remember them getting two men sent off - I think it was April 1997 but one of those was Gerard for fighting. But I can't recall a pen or a red card or disallowed goal, where we got the decision and it wasn't fair.
For example, last year v Arsenal away, our goal was deffo offside. (But we still lost). So there, sometimes we get the odd bad decision in our favour. But the RS have never had a bad decision go against them when they play us, and we have had loads.
So please, tell me, when did we last get the rub of a corrupt ref?
In fact I can't remember a worse refereeing decision in a top game. Have we not got these people ready to speak out and shift the discussion from whether or not it was a red card to whether or not Atkinson should follow D'Urso into a life as a championship ref? Where the f*** is this pressure?
There's a difference between him and some of the useless refs. I thought he shoul've given Drenthe a penalty as it was a blatant foul. One bad decision fair enough but he didn't give us made decisions.
In what other job could you make numeorus mistakes and still get kept in the job? If your a waiter and continue to drop orders then you will get fired; why the FA doesn't operate on a similar logic I don't know. Why didn't he evaluate the decison before sending him off, not even Liverpool fans complained at the time.
Referees are simply never punished for their mistakes. Howard Webb was the moron who booked Neville for a a silly tackle.
"It was the 20th dismissal in 39 Premier League meetings, 13 of which have been Everton players with eight of those coming in the last 10 games at Goodison."
8 Blues sent of in 10 games, we must be really dirty.
I can think of Clive Thomas FA Cup semi. I can think of Alan Robinson Milk Cup Final Hansen handball. I can think of a stonewall pen when Pat Nevin was fouled at Anfield in the game before the 4 all reply in the Cup. I can think of Poll disallowing Hutchinson's goal.I can think of the Clattenburg Derby. I can think of today. The best I can come up with was that there was suspicion of offside when Gary Lineker scored our second goal at Anfield iin 1986.
Going to make myself an enemy here but my initial reaction (from TV) was that it was a bad tackle...he won the ball, no doubt but it LOOKED like he'd followed thru with the left boot ( but he hadnt and in hindsight, it was a perfectly legitimate tackle) butbi knew there was a card on the way...
But I do agree that over the years I cannot recall a controversial decision going in our favour, off the top of my head I can think of 8 that went against us.
I actually thought we were good value for a win today and even after going one down I thought we were still on for the draw. They were/are poor but let's be honest, our defending was awful for the goals and we rode our luck a bit before half time.
I think we will move on quickly from this lads as much as it hurts now. We were robbed but if it was 11-11 our defending was still bad for both goals...
(everyone gonna think im a ref or work for FA).
The rule is that it has to be a deliberate back pass from opposition for the striker who is in an offside position to be declared onside. Deflections don't count... sorry
Okay, I'm going to shut up now before everyone thinks I'm a dirty red! Blue blood honest! Check the surname...
Wasn't it a through-ball from a blue which clipped a defender? Surely its off side if the ball reaches its target as desired... but rules and what is right don't equal the same thing sometimes.
That has too be the stupidest thing an Evertonian has ever said ever.
After the game he has no comment on the sending off - never saw it actually.
Another Wenger.
Total unhonest prick !!
I would not worry too much about your rant about Dalglish yes he was a great player but he has spent most of the season moaning about decisions the RS arent getting. He seemed to suffer from some selective blindness disorder yesterday The more you watch the tackle the worse the decision becomes, isnt it Suarez who actually arrives late into the tackle?
Rodwells card should be rescinded.
Suarez should get the 3 game ban transferred to him for cheating.
The ref should be sacked.
What will happen... Absolutely fuck all
The worst thing about MOTD was they shown the Rodwell tackle then compared it with only Everton tackles from the game so biased the media it is untrue never mind the powers that be.
How the fuck they get away with that time after time is beyond me... they are made up to win that way as well... the horrible low life inbred norwegian dirty smack ridden bag sniffing ugly murdering slack jawed wonky teeth cunts.
Every kopite I have ever met has been a grade A* knob head.
Jeff winter
Graham Poll
Mark Clattenberg
Martin Atkinson
Just a short list from the top of my head.
What do they have in common?
The have all officiated FOR Liverpool in derby matches that have cost us dearly.
It's more for my list - I don't know why but I had completely forgotten about him, but not the event.
There are also all the goals that Mick Lyons scored and had disallowed in the 1970's - the only one that wasn't disallowed was the own goal against George Wood.
I once asked some redshite mates to name a referee in a derby match that they felt cost them - there aren't any, although they did whinge about not getting a penalty (Tony Hibbert handball) when we battered them 3-0!!
So should our players have just walked off after Rodwell went? I thought it galvanised our players but Moyes couldn't see the benefit of playing a hungry young striker like Vellios until it was too late. The lad works hard and defends from the front. Saha is 33 and unfit so where's the sense there?
He took off Coleman and left the slow and bungling Hibbert at the mercy of two pacy and tricky wing players. If Neville is not going to play right back any more then he should take the captaincy off him and hand it to someone who is going to be a regular choice.
Yes, we have had some terrible decisions from refs ? like the time Kuyt nearly ended Neville's career and Twattenburg never even blinked ? but this club has to accept that and fight even harder against the opposition, the officials, the FA, LCC and every other fucker who is out to destroy our great club.
COYB ? nobody likes us and we don't care

What's going on here, down to 10 men already, says it was a 'harsh challenge', stupid cunt referee, even the pundits saying it wasn't anywhere near a red, Rodwell got the ball. :(
