Tottenham Hotspur are the latest club to be linked with a move for Ross Barkley this January as the red-top rags do their best to perpetuate the unfounded links between transfer windows.

That makes Chelsea, Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal supposedly chasing the 17 year-old who is set to be offered a reported £20,000-a-week salary by the Blues when he turns 18 in December.

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
I am sure journalists pick snippets up from all the managers in the Premier League. Picture the scene, Wenger is asked what he thinks about a top player during a press conference. Wenger says that the player is a good player and that he has always admired him.
Next day, the headlines reads that Arsenal is interested in acquiring this player. Maybe if Moyes says in his next press conference that he has long admired Messi, the Mail will report that Everton is going to bid for him during the next window.
These journos are law unto themselves. Unfortunately, the crap they write is not considered libellous as they can quote what they heard at press conferences. But managers from every league in every country have pipe dreams about top stars playing in their teams. If a journalist from the Mail gets a whiff of such a pipe dream, it then becomes a rumour.

Obviously young Barkley is a fantastic prospect but the media just cannot leave him and the club alone to develop his talent. They have to make stuff up like this.
In a recent article the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea, Manchester City and Spurs all "let it be known" that they were interested in taking Barkley. What the fuck does "let it be known" mean??!?
Are they all in cahoots with each other or is that the Mail is so clued up that they uncovered this piece of fantastic journalism? Or did they just make it up?
Do we really want these bastards on our side promoting our efforts to progress our club?
