Latest Barkley rumour follows Finch Farm model

In a strange reflection of the sell and lease-back model by which Everton procured for themselves a state-of-the-art training complex at Finch Farm, this week's Ross Barkley rumour has Everton selling the young midfielder to Chelsea for £20M in January... and then loaning him back for 18 months!!!

Kenwright's financial woes started with the bombings in London, and the rise of the pound against the dollar. These events combined to drive away the American tourists, who are a strong backup for his theatre businesses. Before that happened, we where riding high in the Prem, getting a Champions League spot etc, and looking like we could be contenders...
That's when we got good or any real offers in my opinion, and he decided with Elstone to let it ride and keep his hand firmly in the jar. Of course our unfortunate bad luck, and in my opinion again, the departure of Alan Irvine left Moyes tactically one-sided,and we've drifted down (financially as well) to where we are now... Any investors of course long gone.
So, from now on in, it will be periodic trips to sell at auction, to sell off our best stock, and the fans will watch on as the bus teeters over the edge like in the Italian Job, with Moyes as Michael Cain trying to balance us back to the gold of what we could've had...

This would be fuckin disgraceful and confirmation that the club accepts itself as a nothing more than a feeder club.

Why do posters get so wound up about a rumour that has probably been made up by either a) some pimply teenager wiith feck all better to do or b) some pimply journalist with feck all better to do?
If all the rumours going around were true, we would have a squad the size of the population of uganda or a squad of 8 after all the want aways/transfer targets were sold.

I've heard a rumour that Ronald McDonald is going to invest a billion dollars into Everton but there's a catch. We have to move to London to take up residency at the Olympic Stadium and will be called 'Everton Giants' - the good news is every supporter will get a free Big Mac as they pass through the turnstiles... and we'll be playing in red'n'yellow with bright red wigs and extra large footy boots.
Kenwright and Moyes have not denied this rumour so it must be true!

I have it on good authority that this rumour was started by a young millionaire who lives in a one-bedroomed rented flat in Manchester!

Tom #2 ? that's a pretty fantasist tale given BK has been potless (in relative terms) since before he bought the club and hasn't invested a single penny beyond the shares he borrowed money to buy.

Just a quick comeback to Brendan (#8) and Gavin (#6)... Kenwright's money has been tied up for some time in his theatre businesses... Fact. Yes, he bought the club during the period he did, when his theatres where riding reasonably high.
I know personally two of his ex employers (who are now my neighbours) and a prominent name in Liverpool`s night club scene over the last 50 years. A person who knows Kenwright reasonably well. Their collective educated assumptions are that he has put his theatres first, and has probably hived off as much money as possible from Everton to help fund them, especially after the events in London and the £ v $ scenario. That still persists to this day.

It's all just newspaper bullshit at the moment.
As much as it sucks its modern football. We all know we have next to no money. If Ross does turn out to be World Class its only a matter of time before a richer club buy him. Even Man Utd and Arsenal have had to sell their best. Money talks!
We could produce Messi from our academy. He may not want to leave Everton and may love the club but we are just not in a position to turn down a massive offer from other clubs.
With our current standing all we can hope for is that Ross is world class, helps us for a few years and eventually makes the club a huge profit.

The home grown players are the soul of the club. They are the players who are more likely to stick around when things get tough; while others look for greener pastures new.

Bill Kenwright does not own or run theatres. He is a producer who puts shows on in theatres. Although not recession proof, theatre, as a whole, has a certain grace in such times. People still buy tickets. I write with knowledge and experience. It?s harder, granted, but it?s not desperate.
Frankly, how Blood Brothers is doing is barely relevant to Everton?s fortunes any way.
Bill?s problem, or rather Everton?s problem, is that he is in theatre rather than oil, arms, banking or global media. He?s in a business with tight margins and therefore he is simply not in the same bracket as some others. Those others are few and far between and not all of them are people we would necessarily want associated with Everton.
Even if Theatre was booming he would not be able to bridge the gap. I don?t feel he should be criticised for it.
There may be other things to have a go at but not being Sheikh Mansour should not be one of them.
