Liverpool are reportedly interested in Everton youngster Seamus Coleman and will hope to take advantage of Everton's perilous financial position by making a significant January offer for the Irish international.

While I like Seamus I don't see him becoming a legend. If a significant offer around the £7m mark came in for him I think we would find a more natural wide man with that amount.
I would however like to see him at right back to see how well he would do coming from deeper and with someone in front of him to link up with and create space for him to attack, ironically a player like Pienaar would be ideal!

This board would have no problem selling our top players to Liverpool, they'd have no quarms about doing it.
They'd just get thier cronies in the local media to do the usual stitch-up job on an outgoing player.

Significant offer of £7m for Coleman?!? What have you been smoking Stephen? ? that is not a significant offer, and selling Coleman will not benefit the team; we would get nothing for that kind of money, plus it would just fall into the black hole of BK debt anyway.
We need to keep hold of players like Fellaini, Coleman and Rodwell if we are to progress.

Whilst Coleman had an impressive season just gone, this, he's been sadly found out. Clearly isn't a wide right player so i'll reserve judgement until he gets a regular starting place at RB. However, i do feel he's gone backwards in his performances. I agree with Stephen and IF a decent offer came in i'd consider it.

Agree with James #3, give him a run at right back and play with 2 holding mids, so he can bomb forward and they would cover his (and Baines') defensive frailties

Coleman may have been mustard last season but to me he seems a little like a one trick pony. He is direct for sure, a little too direct and this is reflected in the fact that his final ball often ends up being over-hit or he dwells on the ball for too long without producing the end result of a killer pass. Still a good player to have in the squad although not sure that he has defensive qualities or discipline to play right back.

Play him at right back. He has the pace to get up and down the pitch, whilst with 2 defensive midfielders in Fellaini and Rodwell, we can afford to gamble a little more (rather than play an outfield 11 with 3 recognised right backs). Yes, he might make the odd mistake and get caught out of position ? but he'll have to learn to defend to retain his place.
Neville looks like he is picking up the knocks, whilst Tony is a great squad player is too defensive given our current team make up. Having watched Baines, Lescott and Jags play for England ? that would have made a great back 4 with Seamus.

I like the lad and think he has a bright future but only if he corrects a few faults.
His flying runs with the ball are like an express train that must stay on the railway lines. He seems unable to change direction making it a case of bash through or crash.
Too often after releasing the ball he hangs around in the same area as if wondering where to make a run.
With advice and specialised coaching plus a willingness to learn I believe Seamus would be a second Landon and worth far more than figures quoted above.

Seamus has his faults.. thats without doubt. but he is going the right way.. I like the lad.
He is however a bit of a scary sort when he flashes up !
Now you all may laugh.. but every sucessful Everton team has this element in it. Dunc is back on the training ground and I would love to see a bit of bollocks in the team...

God help us if we contemplate getting rid of this talent, if he doesn't become a first class player then it is down to the failings of the training staff.
In the short time he has been with us he has shown more than enough to be a valued member of the first team for years to come.
He has his faults but what do you expect at his age, experience and training should get rid of them.
Lets get behind the lad and help him return to the form he was showing last season.

In a way Seamus has been given more of a chance with Everton because we are short of players. On the other hand he has been asked to play out of his preferred position.
If we had a full squad he would be groomed to be nothing but what he wants to be - an attacking full back. I still want him to end up here. I know Moyes has said he wants him to end up there but I can't see it happening anytime soon.
The idea of having two out and out attacking fullbacks in the team would almost force Moyes to play some decent football

Seamus is a good lad and decent, but I dont think he is or will ever be a world beater. I cant see this happening, but it would seem a typical red shite transfer if they offered 10mil for a squad player.

I've played a lot of different sports, come across a lot of different talented guys and gals, but Seamus was always a step above. Everton would be stupid to let him go.
I've trained with pro soccer and rugby players, top class athletes and Olympians, I'm part of a scholarship programme in a college
Seamus has the raw talent they have, but he has more of it. He's young, but I have no doubt in my mind, he will be an Irish Legend, whether or not he becomes and Everton Legend depends entirely on if they hold on to him or not..... the last thing Everton wants is for him to become a L'Pool Legend. I guarantee he will be great! I tried to convert him to rugby before, but he loves soccer and always gives it everything he has..... His everything keeps getting bigger and bigger!
Legendary status is not far for him.
