I should imagine if this is true that Dalglish will be elbowed out of the way by Harry Redknapp, the King of the transfer hijackers.

On the other hand, it's probably wishful thinking by some lazy Red journo over there, so I'm not btoo worried.

He seems to be happy at Goodison, making all the right noises, but the onus is on the club to sort this quickly so it doesn't turn into a circus in the summer and he becomes Public Enemy No 1.

We all know Moyes won't sign him, he only signs central midfielders and plays them out of position on the wing.

Bily is the prime example and a waste of £9mill, Pienaar although granted he turned out a cracking winger for us. Then we get to playing a full back on the right!!!

Drenthe is too much of an out-and-out winger for Moyes, he's got skill, pace and isn't afraid to take players on.

Don't hold your breath on him signing.

Fair comment by Steve - Moyes doesn't seem to be a lover of wide men. Cahill, Osman, Heitinga and even Neville have been played by Moyes out on the wing. I think he signed Simon Davies but them played him through the middle . He even convinced himself Big Vic was a winger.

There won't be an excuse for not signing Drenthe, we must have the funds to tie him up on a free and get yet another loan deal for a second-rate striker. I for one won't hold my breath but would love to see R R Drenthe on the back of my top next season!

Drenthe is out of contract in the summer so we should have the chance to sign him on a free in January. I'd hope since we tied him up on a year-long loan, we'd have got some sort of first refusal / option to sign permanently within it? But who knows with Everton!

So your argument is Bily? Pienaar was a master stroke that saved his career and got him a move to a team that had qualified for the Champions League.

How many people here have said Coleman isn't a defender and should be used on the wing? In fact many were giving Moyes loads for not doing it. he also isn't a midfielder so your argument is two players, you said Moyes only buys central midfielders and plays them wide.

Arteta had his best seasons out wide, but moved back inside.

Cahill plays behind the forward, not out wide.

Felliani doesn't play out wide.

Rodwell, now he is settled doesn't play out wide. That's more than your examples and that's only the team now.

Ossie is the utility player.

Peter, I think that is why Davies was dumped, he was bought to play on the wing and then decided he wanted to play in the middle and constantly drifted infield.

The less said about Shandy Andy the better

If Drenthe was all that, a Club with more money would have swept in. He wound up with a team with pockets to let.

He has the look and ability it seems. How come monied teams didn't make a move on him?

If Drenthe, a gifted talent, somehow manages to switch on the light bulb over his head while walking through his soccer life with his head up his ass, let it be with EFC.

If not, move him on. Just another shoulders-down world-class talent, neck-up dumb-ass. Happens all the time.

Drenthe wouldn't be the first player to have been ''hijacked'' by the Redshite but keep in mind it is a rat race and the wealthiest rats get what they want.

When Everton had John Moores we were the envy of the league but now many teams are wealthier and have first dibs on any good player. All comes down to good club management in the end and Everton just don't have it anymore.

Until BK and his cohorts go we will struggle to keep players and attract new ones.
