Everton are apparently rivalling Swansea City for Rory Donnelly, the highly-rated Northern Irish striking prospect.

The Welsh club had reportedly already agreed a fee with Cliftonville for the 19-year-old and Sky Sports "understand" that the Blues have also been given permission to hold talks "in the next 24 hours".

Cliftonville are expecting more interest from other clubs in the coming days as Donnelly and his advisors consider their options.

Rory Donnelly from cliftonville ! If you watch youtube he looks great but so does bily so will reserve judgement until 1. He signs (big IF) 2. once I've seen him play in a blue shirt ! The lad is 6ft 2 but quite gangly so could do with a few pans of scouse between now and his possible blues debut. There is a story on Bluekipper and sky sports relating to this link too, stating his agent will be speaking to us and Swansea in the next 24 hrs.

From what I've seen on youtube he ain't exactly pacey! No different from what we already have / had. Will look awful totally isolated up front if we get hold of him.

Pacey, skillfull and can score (the obvious caveat being that this applies to the level Clifftonville play at)...

I think this move says more about where we are ? rather than the kid....

Seen him a few times and saw him being interviewed on BBC NI. The lad shows a lot of confidence on the pitch and in front of the cameras, something he'll need plenty of if he joins us. I have a sneaky suspicion he would do well and Moyes would bring out the best in. Here's hoping he joins us.

Stephen, he's definitely worth a punt. He's playing at a low level but he's got spark and a good attitude. I've seen him three times and each time he's looked like the one player who who could make it.

Having said that, I said the same about Niall McGinn who looked like a star to me but just hasn't done it.. I still have a lot of faith in Shane Duffy, though, I really believe that Shane is something special and, if it wasn't for that awful injury, we'd have seen it by now.
