Swansea win the race for Donnelly

Swansea City look to have finally won the chase for Rory Donnelly, with an improved offer accepted by Cliftonville and personal terms agreed with the 19 year-old striking prospect.

The Blues were in pole position after lodging a higher bid than the one the Northern Irish club originally agreed with Swansea but now look to have lost out on Donnelly.

That sucks, how dire are we in that we can not secure a young talented striker in front of a small club like Swansea?

It is a bad sign when a player like that chooses to play for a Welsh club instead of Everton...

What striker in their right mind would come to Everton if they were given other options?

We have 3 other strikers to compete for 1 spot, and thats assuming Moyes doesn't put cahill or fellaini up there.

I think the lad probably made the right call, he's got far more chance of a game at Swansea than with us.

Since Swansea were first in and a deal had been announced, it occurs to me that Cliftonville used us and the Shite to get Swansea to sweeten the deal, which they apparently have.

If Donnelly was such a hot prospect, how come only Swansea were in for him to begin with? Plus (And I never heard of Swansea before this came up), I'm guessing this 19-year old will get lots more playing time at Swansea than in the EPL.

Anyway, who knows how a teenager will have developed by the time he's 23-24. I haven't read anyone in here indicating there's any special light glowing off this kid. Just another teenage prospect showing a bit of skill in a minor league. A dime a dozen. Good luck to him.

James (11), your second paragraph reads as if you don't realise that Swansea play in the Premier League, is this the case? They managed to pick Danny Graham up from Watford in the summer and he is already doing very well for them.

Nevertheless, I doubt Donnelly is the answer to our problems.
