Blues in talks over new Vellios deal

In a report suggesting that Everton "are considering reviving their interest" in AEK Athens defender, Kostas Manolas, The Mail claim that the Club is also in talks with Apostolos Vellios over a new contract.

The Greek striker hasn't played for the first team so far this year but scored a hat-trick for the Reserves this week and remains the top-scoring striker on the books with three Premier League goals.

His current deal doesn't expire for another two years but, if this report is true, David Moyes is clearly keen to lock the 19 year-old down on improved terms.

Distin is only supposed to be out for something like 6 weeks. If Moyes actually did bring Weir back to play ahead of Duffy I may need a break from this club.

I think Weir is coming back as a coach. Great news that, our manager was a defender, his assistant, Round was a defender and Stubbs, the reserve team coach was a defender.
How about Ratcliffe as Director of football, and Gough as his assistant. Even Watson and Mountfield as Technical directors and Pistone, Kroldrup . .yes I know, it's all getting a bit silly, but you'd think with all this defensive knowledge at the club, they would be able to teach Hibbert after ten years

Anyway, about Vellios, I think given a run in the side he good turn out to be a gem!
I've watched him with interest off the ball and on it and he looks a confident handfull who can put his laces through the ball in front of goal. I cannot fathom why Saha is ahead of him on his current dire form and think this possible new contract offer is a breath of fresh air in comparison to the usual doom and gloom I am beginning to accept as the norm.

That crock ain't gonna be around much longer. So if I were Vellios, I'd sign in the knowledge I could be the main striker in the coming seasons. I'm assuming there's no contract offer on Saha's table... Due to his old man knees and scoreless form this year. And with it being unlikely we'll buy a new 15 mil striker any time soon, I don't think Vellios has got much to worry about.

Of course he will sign. Moyes and his scouts plucked him from Greek Football and are turning him into a PL player so he will want to repay that. The players all love 'KIng' Louis so he will not be bothered about playing 2nd fiddle at the moment and will hope to learn from him in training. He is quite exciting as a prospect and am looking fwd to seeing more of him. Ability wise looks very good, the goal against Wigan? the header was brillaint centre forward play, plus his finish against Bolton on his weaker foot was very smart. He still has 3 years left on his current deal so EFC are repaying his good season by giving him more cash.

Feck me....yet to play this year...... all 19 days of it. Sensationalism much?

Saha will be off soon and if a manager of a Premier League club wants to extend your contract that can mean one of two things. a) You have a future with the club or b) he wants the most he can get when selling you...... hmmm, not entirely sure which one it could be.

Concerning his off the ball work. I wonder if there is a coincidence between him working with Duncan F, getting in trouble with the manager and being dropped from the subs bench then on return to the bench having others chosen before you despite repeated proof of their inability to score a goal. JUst a thought.

None of our strikers are suited to playing the lone striker role as you need mobility pace and workrate , if we bring one in he needs to be comparible to Marcus bent or aj (only better ) !
